I use olive oil and mix it together. It protects my hair. And what ever i have left i just freeze it i put in a paper and plastic bag so it wont get freezer burns. Gotta make my money stretch. Its hard times out here.😊❤
I've been a licensed hair pro for 25 years. There's no such thing as a relaxer that doesn't damage your hair lol. It LITERALLY breaks the bonds of your hair down. It's the only way it could go from kinky to straight. Relaxers are linked to fibroid tumors & uterine cancer as well. Just get a silk press
@@missalmond Right... not sure how that can be possible... it is a chemical... my hair is fragile... me and relaxers don't mix... too much heat either!
I was natural all my life I’m 24 now and I just got my first relaxer a few months ago. I go to a professional stylist who uses high-quality products and updates me on the condition of my hair. so far it is very healthy ie no split ends or heat damage.I won’t disregard the cancer claims but people also need to take into account that genetics plays a huge role in cancer development as well as diet/exercise and none of those were mentioned in the studies that I read. And personally for me, I was diagnosed with PCOS with ovarian cyst before I even started relaxing my hair🤷🏾♀️ again not to discredit these studies but I feel like there’s a lot of critical information that’s missing.
Wrong, ask how many know what birth control does to the body and the cancers related to it? Ask how many have had genetic testing to see what disorders, illnesses, cancers, etc they are susceptible to based on their genetic make up alone. How many stopped practicing oral sex or practice it differently after finding out it's linked to throat, esophageal, etc cancers? Yall aren't educating anyone. You're pushing propaganda not knowledge. You're waiting on the next infomercial.
I've been natural for 9 years and am considering going back to relaxed. Through this whole 9 year journey I've ended up worse off with far more breakage just trying to care for my natural hair than i have ever had with relaxers.
Already did it, very happy with my results. Silk presses were always a waste of time they never lasted the minute i hit the texas humidity it was back to curls.
There is a such thing. Everybody don’t have to wear there hair natural. Most of you don’t even know how to care for your own natural hair, walking around with a dry brittle mess. If applied correctly, it won’t burn. Only if your scalp has irritation does it burn or either it’s over processed
When people apply relaxers every 2 weeks, what do we expect? Relaxers are meant to be applied every 8 weeks or more. My mum applied relaxers on her hair every 4 months, and she's 75 without any form of cancer. Let's normalise following simple manufacturers' instructions.
As a licensed professional if we are going to perform chemical services we then need to understand proper application and the usage and understanding of its purpose along with its realities. Disulfide bonds are broken down during a chemical process, therefore we MUST apply properly to limit the inevitable (Damage) as much as possible. 1. Always have a timer to have proper processing time 2. Do a strand test to ensure you will be applying the proper strength due to texture/density ( this will help with understanding how long the chemical should be on the hair. The timer starts from the moment the chemical is applied) 3. Always use 4 section partings and NEVER put sections together, AND rinse the first section you start thoroughly before moving to another section. NEVER RINSE the front first because it should be started last therefore rinse last. Also, apply the chemical to the perimeter just before the rinsing process due to it being the most fragile. Lastly, stabilize the hair before shampoo with a reconstructor or stabilizing solution too fill the broken bonds, sealing the raised cuticle back to a closed cuticle. AND NEVER USE RATAIL COMBS OR ANY COMBS TO SMOOTH THE HAIR. Let the chemical do its work not YOU. You should not be trying to straighten the hair you are only relaxing the texture for manageability keeping body and flow to the hair. Your tools (I.e flattening iron can do that ❤)
Where do u work I love the tips I went from..process to nature can't manage the hair and want to go back to processing but just scared of the chemicals
Everyone hair works differently, I’ve been getting perms since 5 or 6 and that’s the longest length my hair ever been. I started going natural at 10 around 2013/14 that’s when going natural started to become a trend my biggest regret. I finally decided to get a perm last year my hair has never grown always been short being natural even with a silk press. Being natural might work for some people but everyone hair textures are different . I never wore my hair out because I was ashamed since it was too short so what’s the point of being natural. A struggle dealing with 4c hair!Getting a perm last year was my best decision and my hair grew so fast in three months. I’m tired of people talking about everyone that gets relaxers going to have ovaries cancer or fibrosis etc that’s not true ! My grandmothers been getting their perms over three decades healthy as ever! If that was the case it’ll be so many black women with those illnesses including myself. P.S. getting a perm or natural whichever works for your hair. Don’t be shaming someone that gets relaxers. We know what works for our hair! I’m tired of people acting like they always been pro natural where was this before natural even became popular some of y’all was still getting relaxers !😅
@@lacheinc idt she said the perm was growing her hair. She just said her hair was at its longest when it was permed. Probably because she was able to manage & take better care of it. I love natural hair but it isn’t for everybody finding the right products, styles etc for natural hair can be costly & time consuming.
This is beyond a lie any collectivist community will have criticism for others in said group it has nothing to do with race , but the reason ppl especially blk women get relaxers has everything to do with race , mostly anti blackness feed to us since our ancestors boarded the slave boats to South America , the USA , and neighboring Caribbean islands . I don’t think other blk women who understand not only the danger of these chemicals especially being linked to carcinogens and to self hatred of “nappy” 4c hair kinky curly hair as the total opposite of what Western European beauty standards we’ve been brain washed to accept this hating ourselves for our own natural features , is a bad thing I don’t agree with shaming women who get these done nore women or men for that matter who bleach their skin I feel empathy for them being victims of societal pressures of anti blackness to conform to beauty standard’s purposefully made to exclude African people .
So we just gone pretend there's not a lawsuit out against relaxers for having cancer-causing chemicals in it? If it can give you cancer, then what do you think it's doing to your hair?
All relaxers "damage"by breaking down the hair strand ...it's permanent....But you can over process and that cause "damage ' in the form of breakage and hair loss.
I was a healthy hair stylist for 29 yrs. All relaxer’s are damaging to the hair. It doesn’t matter how careful you are with the application of it. After a relaxer the hair is weaker and easily damaged further by heat, daily styling and other chemicals. So even if it looks healthy it has still sustained some damage if relaxed.
The same should be said to naturals who constantly silk press/wear braids with extensions/wear wigs. The amount of damage those women do is ridiculous but natural hair stylists will continue to push those styles because of how much can be made off black women. People can charge much more for knotless braids, silk presses and wig installations over a relaxer every 6-8 weeks.
@jollyrancherchick good point didn't look at it like that. It's so true because it's a lot of work prepping natural hair, then silk pressing, which doesn't last long as well. There is nothing wrong with relaxing. I just have to take care of your hair, whatever style you choose.
As a Licensed Natural/Haircare Hairstylist, the integrity of my clients' hair is most important. My clients are aware of heat appliances. If used too often and (more one pass), it will damage their strands. Educating my clientele is very important.
Absolutely correct!! I’m a hair stylist too. Nutrition has to be restored Period! U have to do intense treatments at each salon visit after the hair has been chemically treated 👌🏽Olaplex has products that I’d bet a bag on!!
Do what you want to do with your hair. You don’t have to be natural just because your black. Do what works for you and know the risk. I’m natural but it’s a Personal Choice and not because I’m black. Everybody’s hair is different and can handle products differently. And as for cancer…. What doesn’t give you cancer??? The air we breathe can cause cancer for some people.
Agreed.. I’m only natural to get a fuller volume of hair back, but my natural growth from perm is really taking a lil longer. Perm honestly grows my hair but I would say I used to over process my hair so it was really thin. I’ve been natural 3 years strong and it’s nice and healthy 🎉

When I saw this comment I exclaimed So on point I just said this to someone today 😂 It’s becoming a thing of pressure and no longer what makes you happy Just do everything in moderation ❤
Lol. Please, when you know that black women around the globe suffer from hormonal diseases at a much greater rate, this is no coincidence ... the relaxer we get for style and "easy maintenance" can impact our health AND our the health babies we will carry. Yes many things give cancer. But if you know better and respect yourself and your loved ones enough, you should also do better with the things you can control...
All RELAXERS are curl pattern altering which could potentially cause damage; it’s a CHEMICAL to break down the curl pattern. Regardless of application and care and or if it actually causes damages it’s still a chemical applied to the hair/closely to the scalp. Thank you though for the post.
Ain't the 1st time I see professional blantly lie. But they do have clients too. 🤷 And I don't think those people are so naïve. As long as everyone is happy... As for others whom are looking for real informations on the net : R.I.P
I’ve been getting a relaxer for years! I am 52 & have never had a fibroid, any form of cancer etc. I followed the basic instructions on the box, do a relaxer 3 times for the year & I am fine.
I'm right behind you, 47. However, we are exposed to many things that can cause cancer. The media wants to single black women out and try to make us look bad. They don't talk about other chemicals in other products. Research Essiac Tea for cancer. It may help someone you know. I don't sell it but it helps boost your immunity, along with a good diet.
So we are just going to ignore that mild chunk of hair that came out the moment she got to the sink and the hair in the sink throughout? Aht aht I don’t want to hear anything about shedding lol
It looked like dead hair. Upon can see her hair was Already dry, untrimmed, and brittle looking ends, as if she hadn't cared for it in a while & possibly she came fresh outta braids/ cornrows or extensions

Yes relaxers technically do damage your natural hair but so does permanent hair coloring, perming and any other product that alters your natural hair state. You can combat the damage with good maintenance and care that's why it is always suggested to go to a professional to have chemical treatments done. I went "Natural" for about 3 years, I was spending so much money on products it was ridiculous. Each one of those bottles of products cost on average $14 and we are using at least 4-5 different products not to mention the hunt for the right product for your hair. How many products have you bought and they didn't work and are just sitting in your closet what a waste of money and then when you find the right product they change the formula and you are on the hunt again... Black people are not making our hair care products, Asians are and their main objective is to make as much money as possible, they can care less how our looks or what conditions it's in. A prime example is Lace Front Wigs, we all know what it takes for the perfect Lace Front but yet they refuse to put all the elements together in 1 wig it's all a trick to keep you looking for the perfect Lace Front. I went back to relaxing my hair and I will continue to relax my hair for the rest of my life. I was blessed with a good head of hair but since the pandemic I don't wash it as often and my hair is about 2 inches below my bra strap. I'm not spending all my money on a million products and going outside with a wet head in the dead of winter and I don't do braids. As far as relaxers causing cancer women have been relaxing their hair for almost 100 years and they are just now finding that out ?¿? Like someone else here said everything causes cancer, the powers that be threw that out there to scare everyone into going natural. Do what pleases you and don't knock or shame anyone else for doing them.
It’s sad some black woman are lazy and spend there money on everything but not their hair. Waste money on fashion clothing that does nothing to their body care, shoes/ jewelry etc even going out on a expensive restaurant or travel but can’t spend some $14 on some damn good health products. If some people wanna have sickness from those dangerous chemicals. I say let them go ahead and suffer. And let wonderful black woman who are opening their eyes to loving ourselves to not please society. You know damn well any black woman who do perm is doing that to please someone. Some black woman will have the right hair products but can’t style their hair so they be scared to sit outside without using some curls cream to look like some mix person. I have my natural hair out short, I barely spend money on hair stuff. Just buy any black woman shampoo and conditioner and some few oils that’s it. Anyways I hope people who keep doing person stay being lazy and insured. Like be for real it’s 2023. There’s no excuse. Chinese make everything even the phone you using. Which are expensive, cars, tv, furniture and everything so you might as well stop buying stuff that aren’t mad in USA America. No other group is thinking about pleasing black people. Everyone on earth goals is to make money as much as they can.
Exactly! People be so pressed. I relaxed my for 25 years and the only relaxer that damaged my hair are the ones that contain no lye. I have reduced considerably the amount of time that I relax my hair but I do. It makes my hair manageable and I just mix it with conditioner to reduce the strength but even with the locs I have I still texlax (not leaving the relaxer long enough for it to be straight). These days even milk causes cancer... So do you
With cancer growing up everyone wore relaxers and the cancer rates was low. They are storytelling our drinking water is FULL of chemicals. Using non stick pans which most of us use causes cancer. The coating disappears overtime and goes into our foods.
Thank so much, about to relax my hair from natural but was scared when I saw people’s comments, but thanks for taking the fear away. I have been on natural for 8yr and I want to relax now. Still wondering the type of relaxer to use 😢
@@loombigoor9847 Do a lot of research, Start with a mild relaxer. It's important to treat your hair regularly with an oil such as castor, tea tree or rosemary so they can maintain moisture and strength. I relax my hair every 4 months. It's good to take biotin or nettle leaf supplement.
She definitely did.... Everyone is going nuts on here. Especially the non relaxer people. I believe it's really a personal choice don't judge anyone for making a choice for themselves just because you have a difference of opinion.

Probably because she didn’t BASE the girl’s temple, her scalp, ears, nor the nape of her neck BEFORE applying the relaxer!! 😒😒 A stylist that doesn’t know what they’re doing will cause your hair to fall out!
As a women with 32 inches of natural hair . Perms arnt the reason people are bald . It’s just like when people say they leave their edges out for “protection “. But be flat ironing them to non existence… heat and bleach are just as bad especially if you do them often
Just get a silk press that burns your scalp, ears and neck from the 450 degrees flat iron’s heat. When it burns you, your stylist will tell you not to jump. As if you can control that natural reaction. Then you’ll be graced with the natural scent of burnt chemicals in your hair until you wash it. That’s if your silk press lasts for longer than 3 days.
As a professional relaxers are damaging to hair but if you choose to use relaxers then it SHOULD NOT be applied to the scalp..manufacturers say 1/5 an inch away from scalp I recommend an inch to 2 inches away from scalp leaving on the hair for less than 5 minutes…apply a neutralizing conditioner prior to scalp (olaplex or affirm) wash hair 3-4x then plastic cap conditioner w/ or w/out heat. Dry & Style follow up with Vida Hair growth products
Comments did not disappoint. You literally have to damage your hair in order to “relax.” We should stop calling them relaxers but STRESSORS instead. Hair in its natural state is when it’s the most relaxed….
I agree 👍💯... Hair is already natural but when you go and grab something like a relaxer it cuz damage ... When your hair is natural you want to keep it up using chemicals will tear it down and get worsen Ladies finding something that work for you is the key stay away from mess & don't be stressed!
Go girl!!! Don't let anyone tell YOU want to do with YOUR hair!! I was natural for 11yrs and went back to my relaxer and LOVE IT!! Had non-growing fibroids WHILE natural and no issues since being relaxed again. There are multiple reasons for cancer development. Stay healthy overall and do what makes YOU happy!
Not taking care of your hair damages your hair. Wigs and braids, damage hair too. If you don't take care of unpermed hair, it gets damaged too. It sheds as well. Get a professional that has a "growing hand" and real knowledge of hair to do your hair. You will get better results.
You're absolutely right, but the title is misleading. A relaxer always damages your hair, because it changes your hairstructure permanently. There is no such thing a damage free relaxer. And even if your hair grows, it's not healthy.
@user-ok4bq2hm7y I had a perm. My beautician took care of my hair. It was so healthy, that people thoughts it was weave. Overprocessed hair comes from those that don't know what they are doing by putting perm all over the hair instead of roots or people doing it themselves. I'm natural now but I feel my hair is not as healthy as it was.
@@fredahunter3654 there’s no possible way you’re hair is less healthy being natural than it was permed. That’s physically and chemically impossible. Learn how to care for your natural hair and you’ll see how much healthier it is when you flat iron natural hair then straightened permed hair. There’s a drastic difference. Permed hair has low shine and looks flat and thin while silk pressed natural hair is shiny bouncy and appears much thicker. Look at permed videos versus silk presses natural hair.
Look up perm damaged hair versus POTENTIAL damage from braids or wigs. You can see the broken hair in the sink as she washing the perm out. Perm damages 100% of the time even when done professionally and properly because it has to break your hair down to get it straight. wig or braids will only cause damage if you leave the style in too long or too tight or do something wrong. So you can’t compare the two because one will cause damage no matter what while the other only cause damage if you do it too tight or neglect your hair.
@xbabybriox respectfully, you can't tell me about my hair and my experience. The new school beautician are more so into weaves and not the care of hair. It is more about money for some. My beautician would have consultations on weaves, color and so on. no matter how long we had been her customer. She would tell us what is not good for your hair. She loved hair. I would give her 50 to 100 tips because she had may hair thick, shiny and flowing. People would ask to touch my hair, that just how pretty and thick it was. You may have had a bad experience, but I didn't. It is ok if you disagree.
I say everybody is different, because I wore a perm for decades and my hair was long healthier and full. Called myself going natural and my hair still grows but it’s so thin now
@@niyah_jordan3147 Same. That was the only way my hair wouldn't sweat like crazy, especially in the summer. Now I only do natural or a silk press every non and then
My Aunt never a relaxer a day in her life, and she had 2 fibroids on her ovaries! They were the size of grapefruits! Same with my Grandmother! I believe the cancer is coming from the chemicals that are in the foods that we eat! Example is the steroids in the chickens that we ( Black folks) love to eat! Also don’t forget about the contaminated water that’s flowing into our communities!! Those are alongside with the cigarettes 🚬!
I have been a Professional Stylist for 30 yrs and have ran 4 large salons and served as a platform Artist for 10 yrs and I can honestly say…. Ain’t no such thing. Relaxers are “THE” WORST THING ANYBODY CAN PUT ON THEIR HAIR! Period!

I think we should go back to normalizing the village where we are our sister’s keeper. It’s not about hair or money but our safety, well-being and ultimately our survival. Historically we are always being targeted by companies who sell us products that they know cause severe health issues and even death. I just think awareness is important. Because while some women use these products knowing the risks, there are women and girls who just don’t know.
@@Ebony_daughterofjudah I do agree, but if we’re completely honest most ppl don’t care about another person. Not every woman had / has a issue with being natural. But I don’t like how women shame other women because they don’t want to be natural. It’s sick.
Years ago after canceling relaxers, I first missed the easy detangling and maintenance process of having relaxed hair, but it's definitely not worth using it and taking a risk on my health!
The key is not to over relax the hair by making it bone straight. That leaves the weaker and requires more maintenance then the average person knows or is willing to do. If you leave some curl pattern in the hair, relaxers can help achieve the goal of why some people get them. Hair is a choice and your free to make those choices.
Let me guess...this comment section has those sisters who went natural and discovered their true self? Some of the products we put on natural hair also causes damage to some. 😐
You’re right, it is true that some of those products are also damaging, but there are other options. For example, some people make DIY shampoos, tea rinses, and conditioners and leave-ins. I would like to ask, is there anything wrong with a woman discovering her true self? Based off what I see in our community - it seems like our women are running away from themselves.
Relaxers can be safe if they aren’t left on the hair until they are burning … we have been told that if it’s not burning it’s not working.. that’s where your breakage comes in .
@@Ebony_daughterofjudah yes that and everything around us in this world … what are you gonna do tho… people will do what they want with their hair and what works for them
I said the Same thing!!! That's not a thing here in Chicago. So far yours is the only comment about this. These comments are mostly Judging the fact that she got a relaxer 🙄
All relaxers damage your hair. It is what it is. You can’t try your best by not using them as often - but chemical is a chemical and natural will always be safer and better. Each their own. As someone that has been natural and relaxed, natural is always better even though it is more work. 🤷🏽♀️😊👍🏽
Seeing the person washing out the relaxer with her hands, I remember the few times I used to do that, it felt as if my finger tips were burnt smooth and my fingernails looked stained yellow, while the edges were curled stiff and brown. You can just imagine the damage to the hair and scalp over time(that's another self abuse story to tell). These are some reasons why I went and stayed natural. Those chemicals are bad, just bad. It's a bad risk.
If you are going to relax your hair be sure to use one it’s lye. The no lye relaxers or calcium hydroxide or guanidine relaxers prevent your hair from receiving moisture and eventually breaks.
@@Maames my hair was long and healthy with affirm lye relaxer back in the day. Then I had a stylist tell me to switch to that phytospecific no lye. My hair turned for the worst. Broke all off.

Just my opinion but, I don’t believe in relaxers you use hydrating shampoo and conditioner. And silk press your hair and it looks just or even better than a relaxer.
My 4c silk press last 1 day b/c I sweat in my head & it's lots if heat & pressure. To wear a silk press I would have to press my hair 2-3x a week until it was 'heat trained' aka 'heat damaged' when your curls don't revert back. Also, my fro shrinks throughout day no matter what products. Guess I'm just rocking the 60's afro look or just braids
It does damage hair, but the only way to stop it from damaging your hair is too give your hair protein treatment after relaxing, adding moisture and oiling your hair.
I prefer to having a relaxer. My hair is very thick and hard to manage. I take very good care of my hair and can workout or get caught in the rain without caring about a silkpress.
I encourage you to research videos of women with Afro/Wooly textured hair that’s waist length or longer. If they are able to care for their hair, I don’t think it is fair to say our hair is really hard to manage. For me personally, I think technique, patience, and protective styling (no extensions) can make things a lot easier. This is coming from a woman with thick Afro/Wooly hair. There are a lot of fun ways you can style your true hair, as well as style it in protective ways. If you would like to see, I have a playlist I can share.

Amen on all the comments! I've got to add my opinion: I just use collagen treatments. They are great and soften the hair for any hairdo including blowouts. Yes, hair loss, lack of maintenance, cancer and tumors are sometimes hereditary.
I had a perm for years my hair stayed long & looked healthy. Depends on how you care for it and proper application BUT the cancer aspect is the issue. Everything causes cancer these days though 🤷🏽♀️ silk presses, blow dryers and regular flat iron isn't good for your hair either so 🤷🏽♀️
I’m not a licensed hairdresser however I am a Behavioral Science major and doing your own research key. Meaning understanding how to process results and conclusions. Understanding what dependent and independent variables are and how data is collected and how participants are selected for the research. There are so many moving parts to it. Blogs and news reports are not accurate sources. There are scientific studies, articles, and journals out there and none of them have definitive linked or provided real scientific evidence that supports the hypothesis that relaxers causes cancers or tumors. There are so many other factors. I hope this helps.
It was never about damaging the hair. It's about removing the natural curl pattern, however, it appears heat (silk presses) also remove the natural curl pattern. Go with what works for YOU.
@@DMoni2992 sometimes it doesn't revert back you'll have straight strands along with your natural curl pattern but that's for the people that over do it.
We all will have or had some type of ailment that will harm the body. Every day there's a new lawsuit out for something. There's a foundry here that caused cancer, lung issues and more but we're eating process food and there's always a recall on something. As a retired master cosmetologist and physician assistant from my stand point there's going to be something you encounter that can causes harm to the body there's no way to avoid it. Smoking causes copd, lung cancer you're inhaling danger, even those that think smoking marijuana is natural and good, it's no better it's being mixed with other chemicals to stretch it. I just watched a documentary on it, your smoking weed and any animal especially rats, BM is grind n mixed it again there's an ailment for the body. As to the hair that came out when she began rinsing the hair that's old hair. Most of the ppl fail to realize that happens with every first relaxer on natural virgin hair. Stylist may not have used a relaxer in the store because we have access to products the stores can't get. At the end of the day you pray for your health regardless because there's something in the atmosphere that we're inhaling that no physician nor scientist can pinpoint. Again prayer n your preference is what's up to you. Song of these naturals need more than a chemical.
Beg your pardon, ma'am, but how is the natural curl pattern removed? chemical, yet heat is used to silk press. Both are still harmful, just in different ways or processes. Unfortunately, this debate will last day and night until the word "cancer" enters into it. So, I think I will continue with my God-given, natural blessed curly hair. Yes, that works for ME.
you are right, what if I tell you some relaxers don't have a long term effect of removing the/my curl pattern, well at least that's my story. heat is what damages my hair, not relaxers. I use relaxers to manage my hair better and in 2 to 3 weeks it reverts back like I never touched it.
🫵🏽💋THIS TITLE IS TRUE!!!! There are hair relaxers out there that do not damage the hair or degrade the hairs strand integrity. Rusk has a great hair relaxer. Optimum is a great one. So is cysteine hair relaxers and Thio relaxers! Thio, when Done right, actually relinks the disulfide bonds. No lie relaxers create lanthion bonds that, as far as I know, arent the best.

All relaxer damages hair! It is a lye based chemical, even the no-lye relaxer. Did you use a neutralizing shampoo to stop the relaxer? If not she gonna be bald.
I used a permanent dye on my natural hair & was disappointed that it changed the texter of it. Henna from now on! That's a natural dye that slowly fades after washing.
they don't but they can cause internal damage, please keep that in mind. Reducing how often you get them reduces your risk. Silk presses can last just as long as getting your hair relaxed if done properly. You can also use Texturizers to reduce your risks because you only use them 4 times a year to loosen your natural curl pattern this works well when paired with a silk press.

When people apply relaxers every 2 weeks, what do we expect? Relaxers are meant to be applied every 8 weeks or more. My mum applied relaxers on her hair every 4 months, and she's 75 without any form of cancer. Let's normalise following simple manufacturers' instructions.
Thank you!
People put relaxer in their hair twice a month!!!!! 😰😱😱😱😱😱 that’s so dangerous omg 😥

Every two weeks? No wonder people have issues. I use to be a 6-8week person but now I'm 10-12.
Your tools (I.e flattening iron can do that ❤)
Nice and professional tips. I’m glad you take the time to do this correctly for your clients 😊

All relaxers "damage"by breaking down the hair strand ...it's permanent....But you can over process and that cause "damage ' in the form of breakage and hair loss.
Yes, just as dyes do also ..
Big FACTZ

All RELAXERS are curl pattern altering which could potentially cause damage; it’s a CHEMICAL to break down the curl pattern. Regardless of application and care and or if it actually causes damages it’s still a chemical applied to the hair/closely to the scalp. Thank you though for the post.

I'm not spending all my money on a million products and going outside with a wet head in the dead of winter and I don't do braids. Had non-growing fibroids WHILE natural and no issues since being relaxed again. There are multiple reasons for cancer development. Stay healthy overall and do what makes YOU happy!
Black women hair is absolutely beautiful ❤
There’s nothing like that feeling of rinsing a relaxer out! Water just dancing on the scalp 😂

Everyone is so worried about breakage ( as they should) but no one gets that relaxers causes HEALTH ISSUES! Smh
Many of us didn't know that. I truly wish we knew about this many years ago.

No such thing as a relaxer that doesn't damage your hair. The issue with relaxer are the chemicals that are being absorbed into your brain!?

Yeaaa there’s no way I’m going back to relaxers. Give yourself 2 years to get used to your natural hair and you won’t go back. I love seeing my curl pattern when I wash my hair
That’s a long time 😂
I went back to relaxers last year after being natural for 10 years. Afro is so high maintenance, I was over it.
Wow I love how you said you love seeing your curl pattern me to.
I'm not going back either. I transitioned by doing two-strand twists and discovered that my hair is so much more versatile now. However, it only took a few months for me to appreciate my curl pattern.
I’m going back in 2 weeks. I’m over being natural
I had literal scabs on my scalp from relaxers.
Me too almost every time at that
Me too I'm glad I went natural almost 10 years ago
Me too I've been natural 13 years now and I suffer from fibroids also.
Okay? Clearly ur scalp is sensitive
That means it was left on to long

@@Kat_Beezy I personally never had an issue with a relaxer like ever. Doesn’t mean others haven’t but I’m not gonna make another woman feel less then for having one or not.!!.
Ppl are so big on shaming other ppl now based on their choices or how they want to do things. You are correct on lack of education. But not every woman has had an issue with a relaxer. I just relaxed my hair first time by my self no burning issues or nothing and no hair loss. I love it
Lie
Fr
Oh that full natural hair is beautiful.
Relaxers can be safe if they aren’t left on the hair until they are burning … we have been told that if it’s not burning it’s not working.. that’s where your breakage comes in .

All relaxers damage your hair. Don't trust a stylist who tells you anything different.
If you are going to relax your hair be sure to use one it’s lye. The no lye relaxers or calcium hydroxide or guanidine relaxers prevent your hair from receiving moisture and eventually breaks.

Anyone who tells you that a perm doesn't damage your hair is a liar. They just want your money. No perm is worth your health. Silk press it and keep going.
I think they posted this because they knew they’d get a lot of views. We all know that relaxers are harsh on our hair and skin and no telling what else.

And my question is why are relaxers only made for black peoples hair 🤔 seems mighty fishy to me
It was never about damaging the hair. It's about removing the natural curl pattern, however, it appears heat (silk presses) also remove the natural curl pattern.
Go with what works for YOU.
After a silk press your hair can revert back. And if done correctly and not too often you can still have healthy hair
No lie relaxers create lanthion bonds that, as far as I know, arent the best.

they don't but they can cause internal damage, please keep that in mind. Reducing how often you get them reduces your risk. Silk presses can last just as long as getting your hair relaxed if done properly. You can also use Texturizers to reduce your risks because you only use them 4 times a year to loosen your natural curl pattern this works well when paired with a silk press.
