This song came up on YT as 'Recommended for you', and am glad it did. The song brings back happy memories of the 'simpler' days of Eurovision, when A Song For Europe was so popular that the songs were even discussed about in the street. I've been watching Eurovision since 1959, started audio recording it in 1963 and then to videotape in 1979, when ASFE was not broadcast due to a technicians' strike, and the winner was only announced on radio. Up to the 1980s. I thought I knew everything about the Contest - but I realise nowadays that it's impossible to keep up with all the changes, which is why these timeless videos are so precious.
Thank you so very much for these amazing videos Julie. I'm reliving my misspent youth again, watching these on a Friday night and Terry calling the regional votes in! You are a star x (Any More?)
Thanks for posting, Julie Ann. I always loved this one - along with Nina Shaw's Look At Me Now, also from 1984. West End theatre guru David Ian here, with legs of rubber that didn't seem to want to move with the music, and also Tim Clark, the nearly-man of Eurovision, who always seemed to fall at the final hurdle.
It finished 2nd, Mick, and in my humble opinion, would've done better than Belle and the Devotions - although we still would've been booed at Eurovision given all that was going on that year regarding England fans etc.
This song ticks all the Eurovision boxes. It's the perfect example of europop. Definitely should have won.

SFE used to be the talking point at work the day after but it went downhill after 1991 though 07 was good !! Treasure your recordings Bill
Great post. Good to hear you’ve been interested in the contest long-term.
