It's difficult to decide which modeler I like the best and I think that it depends on the application. That said, I almost sold my QC and after I got it all boxed up and put an ad on Sweetwater's used gear page and realized I was making a huge mistake so I took it off and I'm really glad I did. As soon as I removed the ad and unboxed the QC, Neural announced the 3.0 upgrade.
I’m glad you’re gigging the QC! I have a QC and FM9 and a hx stomp and I go back and forth which I like best but I’ve been digging most the QC lately. Captures are where it’s at. Love your preset
Thanks for taking the time to post these videos, they are very helpful and informative. Your volume idea seems to make a big difference, do you use the output control to boost volume or how do you even them out between presets?
Regarding your main reason for not using scene mode: If you have a strymon favourite switch (or something similar) you can plug it into one of the expression pedal inputs then set it to trigger a gain boost on a block ( ie amp, gain, eq etc.). I do this so I can solo boost any scene at any time. 👍
Sounds great, as always Steve! That Knaggs with the '56 Quiet Coil Mojotones are awesome - envious! I have a set of the Mojos and really like them! I also agree with your "don't amplify the signal" approach to presets. When I build a preset I have a Scene with everything off and A/B every time I add a block to ensure nothing is adding level. To my ears it also sounds best that way - then I run the overall QC volume (big knob on the left) at 100%. You mentioned it would be nice if the QC had parameter control. I assume you mean in Stomp mode?
Curious to see that you run it at 100% QC Master Volume. Do you play out with it like that? I feel like having some head room left to play with can always be helpful. I run mine at 70%.
Steve, I have noticed when you keep everything straight up and then crank the Quilter amp more you get the best natural tone and feel.. I like Cranking my clean amp though.. Love my Fender Capture of tone master..
Steve, I watched a video from you last week where you expressed some doubts about the QC and the plugin business model. I agree with the plugin business model comment but I do like the unit a lot. What's your view now, given this video?
His view changes depending on what he can say to get the most clickbait. It all cycles round through "Why I'm selling my QC", "Why the QC is the best", "I had to stop using the QC and here's why", "Check out the latest QC update". Same for all these youtube guitarists.
You are correct that the sounds are different at different volumes. Just like an amp. I’ve found the louder my presets the better they sound, again just like an amp.
hello, could I use this processor to insert signals (inputs) from keyboards (korg pa4) for example guitar and bass guitar? would I have better signals (sounds)?
I know this is a quad cortex video but I have an HX stomp question for live gigs. I traditionally gig on a silent stage with my hx stomp and a tone x, no issue, no drama, happy with everything but monitoring is decent. Now I have a gig coming up that might have questionable monitoring situation. I know Rabea with his quad cortex has a DI setup that he sends to front of house and splits the signal before cab simulation and sends that to an out of the quad cortex and plugs that in to the fx loop of his kraken amps. Is there a way to split the signal in the hx stomp in a way that I can send a DI signal with a cab sim to FOH and send a signal without cab sim to an amp’s fx loop? Cheers!
Yes, you can use an "fx send" block right before the cab. Honestly, I have just sent my full blown signal into backline amps and then use the amp eq to get me by. It's not perfect, but it works
I’ve been tempted lately with the quad cortex just because that possibility, and having all in one I feel always makes everything easier, but on the other hand I hate the power supply on the quad cortex and the power alternatives seem sketchy.
Have you thought about making a preset in the helix floor that sounds similar to quad cortex , fractal or kemper , I have tried the fractal and quad cortex and it really sounds like a real amplifier, but the helix has something in the tone that no matter which preset I buy, it sounds digital to me, It's like it lacks the punch that the fractal or the kemper has. No matter how much gain you put on the tone or eq , you still hear it weak, however in the fractal , quad cortex and the kemper that doesn't happen. I don't know why Helix is like that, I feel like I invested $1,600 in the Helix Floor thinking that by having the same price as the Fractal or Kemper Floor and quad cortex I would get a real amp tone. My question is, can the Helix Floor be heard with the same punch as the Fractal or Kemper even quad cortex? Will there be a preset like that?
I know what you mean. Helix is a bit weak in the midrange. Try to boost 500hz - 2000hz in the global eq. It sounds more like“in the face“ to me. But do not forget…. In the mix it‘s always different. Sometimes really „bad“ sounds works perfect in the context of a song. Best regards from germany
You can get the preset here stevesterlacci.com/product/1019792
Copy the FX settings for free 😉

Love the shirt! Uncle Larry must love it as well!
I’ve been giging with my QC for a few months now. I like your idea with the volume, I’m gonna try that. Sounds great man..🤘🏻
The preset sound great! Your guitar reminds me of a 60's Gibson Melody Maker. I have a friend that bought one new and he still has it.
I’m ready for your next QC complaint video. I definitely have a list of needed improvements.
Soon!

I totally bypass my volume knob going to FOH
Sounds good Steve
Amazing tones. Thank you.

I tend to dial in the same tones regardless of which modeler I am on. Clean, Trem, Ambient, Swell, Rhy and Lead.
Looks like we are pretty much the same!

Amazing guitar and playing

Funny, I feel the opposite 😅 but that's what makes it fun!
The Fletcher-Munson effect. Our ears perceive frequencies differently at different volumes.
I have to agree with Steve, to my ears, at last in this example, it get a bit too gritty for my taste when the volume in higher.

@@AlexAlexAlexMartin It's a good idea, I'll try it
Dope!!! Love my QC…
Good stuff
Schweeet tones!
It is amazing how in every QC video, there is a buzzing noise. That alone is putting me off.
I didn't notice any off putting buzz. Nothing you wouldn't get with any set up. I even have the noise gate on.
Bought it but haven’t got in in my cloud , added my username
I sent it earlier today, and just re sent it again in case it didn't go through earlier. Check back and confirm if you got it please.
@@SteveSterlacci sweet just come through!
@liamfellows3905 great! Enjoy and thank you!
@@SteveSterlacci got a gig tonight so I’m excited to see how I get on :) I’ll let you know
