I found my father on this site. It only took me until I was 67 years old to even know his last name ! But just to find out he died just two years before.
I don’t know how the two of you work as hard as you do and still maintain your good humour. And you’re both so multi-talented, I am in awe. Keep it up and keep these videos coming!!
Love your sense of humor!!! Frenetic ceiling destruction along with Vivaldi’s best summer storm ever! Love your new stove, congratulations on that great find.
So, you feed AND talk to your children - how VERY progressive!*lol * Congrats on the wonderful new-to-you stove. Your husband Lincoln reminds me more of MY husband Lincoln all the time- so patient and unflappable in the midst of renovation chaos. Maybe it's in the name! 😉 Thanks for another great vlog!!❤️
I was thinking "how traditional" ... but I guess in this day & age w/all the electronic distractions it's 'progress' to feed your children & actually speak to them as well! At any rate, love her dry laconic humor! 😉
The big sink could be useful in a greenhouse or close to your garden. To wash you’re hopefully amazingly growing veggies, to water your plants or give some pots a good rinse…🌱 😊
Wow, good deal and well worth the miles to pick it up! Thanks for sharing the sound of the donkey crunching the carrot, I presume? My gosh, maybe I'm weird, but I love a good crunch!!! Happy cleaning and renewing! Thanks for the continued humour Amanda!
I opted for La Cornue's Chateau 150 and Flamberge Rotiserrie in my Northern California kitchen. My friends told me I was crazy to spend that much money, but they're heavenly tools and I don't regret the expense.
Been watching & enjoying your channel for approximately the last 9 months. I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada & was surprised to read that in 1880 your ancestor Calixa LaVallée, composed the musical score of our Canadian national anthem. The first Lyrics were written (in French) by Adolphe- Basile Routhier,a poet. Later in 1900 English lyrics were written. It wasn’t until 1980 that the Canadian parliament adopted O’Canada as our national anthem. According to “The Canadian Encyclopedia” Calixa LaValée moved to the U.S.several times, fought for the Union Army in the Civil War, then travelled to South America, studied in Paris ,and died in Boston. Even after his death at 48 yrs old in 1891 , his travels continued, when he was disinterred and his coffin moved to Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery on Mount Royal in Montreal, which is the 3rd largest cemetery in North America, modelled after Père LaChaise Cemetery in Paris. There is a lot of information available about your ancestor Calixa LaVallée. Anyway, just keep up your great RUclips channel, you and Lincoln inspire me! 👍👍
Congratulations on the gorgeous oven! So excited to see all the cottage changes! **Don't hate me but I want your videos to be longer. I just can't get enough!
Thank goodness for the farmers' protests all over Europe. The powers that be want to reduce us all to eating bugs, not real food. More support for those enraged and perspicacious farmers. We should all support them rather than grumble. Won't be much to cook on that gorgeous stove if we don't.
Good on the French, German, and New Zealand Farmers have done it too. The World needs Farmers and the Govts are outta control. Cost of everything with controls has gone mad. Have nothing and eat bugs? Xo have you noticed your chems in the french sky vlogs too?
Great stove! I love it! Glad I got to see the donkey! You guys are working hard and that is fun to watch! I am so old now all I can do is watch and remember how much fun it was when I could do all the things you are doing now. Thanks for the visit!!! And thanks for telling me about MyHeritage. I am going to check it out! Thanks!!
I have complete and utter stove envy! I will figure out how to become your best friend so I can come and stay in the renovated cottage just to use the stove. I'm not a chef but I am a good cook! If you encounter someone from Ohio wandering in the countryside, it's me. Deal of the century!!!!
I know it must be frustrating when you are travelling far and on a schedule, but we LOVED using the D roads in France when exploring on holidays. So many fabulous little places to discover and it lessens the feel of being a tourist. It's the closest thing to wandering somewhat aimlessly down all the side streets in Paris and hopefully reaching your destination. Thank you for adding those shots, it brought back many happy memories.
Beautiful sunrise shot! It's always great to see you both. I absolutely love your sense of humour...don't ever change! Congratulations on the stove, it's beautiful & what a great price, well worth the drive! Nice to see the donkeys...love hearing the crunch when they eat. Thank you for sharing, have a wonderful rest of the week. Take really good care, Kathy x Canada
The stove didn’t sell because it was destined for you, that’s all there is to it😊It’s beautiful! I to find that cat people tend to be the most trustworthy.
That stove could not have found a better family , great price, wow ! I wouldnt spend 35,000 on a car ! Of course you will be cooking up masterpieces to guests, while i eat peanut butter and jelly to avoid cooking a real meal 😂.
What a prize you found with that stove. Such a unique look about it, too. About six years ago we drove along some of the same highways in Normandy. My paternal ancestor left St. Gatien du Bois in the 1600’s and since I have kept my maiden name, it is the same as that ancestor. Lovely to see the spring flowers in January when I am buried in snow. We don’t even see daffodils in bloom until May. 😢 Loved watching you clean out the outbuilding as that always leaves one with a good feeling. Have a great week!
Wow! My husband would have stove envy if he saw your stove. We had a stove with a French top in a previous house we owned and he loved it! What a score Amanda! Enjoy!
Farmers don't work for "wages", tho they do employ people that they pay wages to. However farm workers aren't able to finance the purchase of a tractor so those clogging up the motorways would be farm owners. They're entrepreneurial businessmen in a high tech endeavor involving geology, soil analysis, plant biology, chemistry, and expertise ad infinitum. A new, large tractor can be worth 10x that range you bought. Congratsn on finding such a nice bargain. We're jealous of your lovely weather and.green landscapes. We'll be impatiently waiting until April for daffodils to pop up..
That little village you went through looked lovely! I've gotten to where I prefer taking the back roads around the U.S. rather than the interstate highways. It's a more interesting trip and doesn't seem to take all that much longer. Oh, and I also have some French ancestors, way back before they went to England with William the Conqueror! All of that is so fascinating. I think we retain memories of certain things in our DNA, and I've always had an affinity for things both French and British. Turns out, that's where most of my ancestors are from! That stove is lovely, and what a find! Sometimes, things are just meant to be.
The pink in the cottage cracks me up every time. I think the finished cottage needs something as homage to the pink. Back in the 80's, I painted a bathroom in a rental that pepto color. It was still better than the previous blue grey color. The poor people who rented after me tho.😂😂
Wow, what a work of art that stove is, OMG! I’ll tell you, it’s really something else watching Lincoln demo, dang! Yes, hearing the birds in the morning is one of life’s greatest pleasures!
What a beautiful oven and what a great bargain. It’s beautiful. So glad you guys got there and got back OK and that you were able to get it into your home without hopefully too much difficulty. Bravo.
I would drive anywhere for a La Cornue! They are so beautiful! I ask myself why a stove can have more meaning than a diamond and they cost the same, but a stove wins!
Interesting that France’s farmers are protesting, as the farmers here in Mexico City have been doing the same thing for the past year. Quite annoying as you’re trying to get home after a drive that has taken several hours; until, that is, you are informed of the what, and why for the delay. It appears that farmers the world over are not being taken of. Question. @ 08:25, do you really mean late 1980’s? Just curious. That isn’t very old.
Lincoln, I’m glad you decided to listen to your wife and put the stove in the house.😘❤️🇺🇸. $1500, sounded high until you said some are $35,000 euros. Stoves are expensive over there. Looks like the burners in the stove have hardly been used.😊
WHAT A BARGAIN! Well done you two! Years of happy cooking to come and so worth the trip. Isn't it incredible how much they cost but they're like a handmade car I guess...such amazing craftsmanship. It will look amazing once you've cleaned it up...enjoy! 🥰🤗
My wife used to work for William Sonoma and one time soled a client a la corneau stove. it was incredibly expensive. It was interesting to see that name after a number of years. Good luck on your projects. I am impressed with your motivation and ingenuity. I owned a place in Tuscany for 15 years, but it was a small apartment of 65 m² and, I had very limited equity involved. My talents in the area of DIY were very limited and fortunately when we bought the place it was a project that included complete restoration. Much luck from one of your Palo Alto fans.
Wow that was the deal of the century! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I loved the intro with Vivaldi's summer and the tearing out of the ceiling it was a fantastic choice... Well done and I am really jealous of that stove. Damn!!!!!
I can’t believe you guys found this, so great because I just saw one that was $20,000 The one I saw was made in the 60s so you guys really made out👍🏼👍🏼.
Feeding my ‘remaining at home children’ is the only time I get to see them and sometimes talk to them. Sometimes they message me to say they’re eating out. Other times they pop into my bedroom when they come home to see if I’m still alive.😂😂 They are in their late twenties though (and the youngest two. I’ve another two both in their 30’s. One of them has an all black cat called Tippy. Don’t know where he got the name from). I digress! Love the stove! What a bargain! ❤
Well done on finding that wonderful stove. There is just one thing wrong with your vlogs, they are never long enough for me.....I really get your humour Amanda and just live for the day Lincoln throws a tantrum.....such a quiet gentleman...surely he will abandon this persona and throw a big tantrum one day.
Oh Canada! Just to let you know Amanda, in tribute to your ancestor, we love our Canadian anthem 🇨🇦! ! It’s definitely one of the better ones. That stove is a real bargain! Those kind of bargains don’t come up very often. So jealous of your budding spring. Here in Toronto spring won’t deign to visit us until April 😢.
OMG! The 120 Chateu La Cornue is currently running 75 grand to get one in the US. This is the color combination i want. The tiny double ovens cause me pause
That stove is Fantastic! I have no doubts that Lincoln will get it in excellent order before too long. You got the bargain of the century there! Beautiful to just drive thru France and all the little towns. I love how Dominic now runs right up to the camera 🥰. So sweet. You did good on the garage. My husband never wants to throw the boxes out🤯. See you again soon. 🥰🥰🥰
Awesome deal on the stove. I feel an early spring here, too. I love to hear the birds, too. The time-lapse proves you have a lot done. Love the scenery.
Kind of hoping you cut the ticking off those mattresses before going to the dump? Could make great cushion covers for outdoor chairs. That cooker - wow, what a find!
Congrats on your beautiful new stove and your long drive was certainly worth it!!! Chefs kiss on your score!!!😉😉 Love your videos and you fun sense of humor!!!🥰😊🥰

Spectacular stove!!!🎉❤. And your travels thru France reminded me of some of our Ca views …the trip from So Cal to Nor Cal. Oh and start the go fund me for the big stove!
Oooh la la 💗👩🍳🥘 that stove - stylish and of course a very practical item, will also certainly warm the cottage too - love your content you make me smile 😊
I love your stove, well worth the trip, my husband and I have taken many trips to find treasures too. I always enjoy your videos, God bless you both and your family, and all your animals.
Your chateau is so beautiful! I just love your donkeys, all the outbuildings, and your entranceway is super! On your Q & A session, I think you said you were an artist. Maybe you can share your artwork with us or do a simple art tutorial? That would be fun. Anyhow, congrats on your nice new stove! It looks like your gamble paid off.
I believe you made a very good purchase. The stove is beautiful and will be a focal point in the cottage kitchen. It’s only the end of January and you already have snowdrops and daffodils popping out of the ground. We have winter for the next couple of months. I’m jealous. Enjoy!! xx
I am in Germantown NY & so far away from you and feel the same way about it feeling so close to Spring and the birds!! They have been so plentiful & have even seen Bluebirds!! Love your stove, may you have many a fine meal from its glory!
Thank you very much for showing your chateau and your everyday life there! Lincoln is such a gentle person of a few words and he is so productive and diligent in his work - not that you are not, you are too!. Lincoln and you need to wear a waste support belt as you both are lifting heavy stuffs days in and days out... so not to be sorry later. While I much admire your work and dedication, I do really think you need a full time helper as it is really too much for you two.
The French farmers keep the class system in check. Be glad they hold the line against excesses by the wealthy oligarchs. American farmers and labor were once the heros of our shortlived egalitarian ethos against greed. There is a reason you went to France and why I wish I were in your shoes. ❤

I was thinking the same thing.

Lincoln looked like a superhero taking that ceiling down 😜😜😜
Sweet find with the La Cornue stove. You scored! Enjoy-
Thanks 👍

Go Farmers go!
Congrats on the stove. It’s beautiful!
I know the love for a stove. I drove 8 hours total to get a stove from 1945 that was ummm.... in pieces. My husband was less excited than I was 😂
I support the farmers and the truckers.
Stick it to the current politicians trying to take
them backwards " you will own nothing & be ok with it"

Even if the stove didn’t work, it’s gorgeous and worth the money!

My husband never wants to throw the boxes out🤯. See you again soon. 🥰🥰🥰
So happy for you with your cooking stove, lucky it, to have been purchased by someone who appreciates and knows how to cook on it.😊
LOVE that you used Vivaldi's Winter for the soundtrack 🤗💗🦊
Bravo on the stove find🎉
Awesome deal on the stove. I feel an early spring here, too. I love to hear the birds, too. The time-lapse proves you have a lot done. Love the scenery.
Wow that’s so much tender Lincoln is making for the fires. Should be good for a few years.
Lovely stove, worth the drive I’d think.
Beautiful stove. If it's any indication as to the look you are going for in the cottage, it is going to be heart warmingly beautiful.
Kind of hoping you cut the ticking off those mattresses before going to the dump? Could make great cushion covers for outdoor chairs. That cooker - wow, what a find!
And that beautiful copper pot you put on the stove! You probably have many more, they are the best.
Congrats on your beautiful new stove and your long drive was certainly worth it!!! Chefs kiss on your score!!!😉😉 Love your videos and you fun sense of humor!!!🥰😊🥰
Wow…you found a super fantastic deal on the stove. Way to go!!! Interesting about the farmers strike. Thank your lucky stars for GPS to keep you out of the traffic

It is an incredible price for LaCornue!

You had quite a bargain with your stove. It's definitely an upper market item.
How Cool! Oh Canada!!
🤗Awe! I just want to hug those donkeys!! 💖💖
👍Great find on the stove!
Love hearing/learning about your new stove, what a buy! and love hearing your donkeys munch carrots!
I love the size of your chateau. It's perfect and not cavernous.
OMG - you SO scored with that find! Well done and it went to the right chef.
The French farmers keep the class system in check. Be glad they hold the line against excesses by the wealthy oligarchs. American farmers and labor were once the heros of our shortlived egalitarian ethos against greed. There is a reason you went to France and why I wish I were in your shoes. ❤
