My 3 acai are nothing more than 3-4 months old and aren't showing good color at all, I'm frustrated but seeing this video now makes me know that I just need to be patient and trust the process that they'll color up better once they mature

I have 6 of these beautiful fish. That's a brilliant set up you have there.

Acei cichlids are always hungry. What I love about them is they are a schooling fish. And very friendly to their own kind.

Yeah i didn't realize that for a long time and only had the two larger ones. I've since added 6 more. Thanks Mike

Mine are about two inches but are a greenish color. Will they turn the purplish blue as they grow? Our do you think I just need a better strain?

It could be both. The young acai don't show very well imo. It takes a while for the fish to really fill out and show nice - like a year or so. They will move up into the top of the tank and sorta cruise around. I do see a tiny bit of green tint in some of the juvy fish in this tank. So just give it a while. That said, from what I understand these do hybridize. So you could have poor genes. Let em his adult form then judge.
