  • (Enable closed captions) Howdy folks! It's been 8 days since my last upload, apologies for that, been under the weather, but clear of covid, so that's a plus point I guess, and I'm thankful for that. Hope everyone's doing well out there, infections are rife, so be safe y'all, maintain SOP ya, this pandemic may be going endemic, but it's far from over...
So I decided to take the Hero Jero for a wash the other day, and let me tell you, after driving just "cars" for the last few weeks, it was quite a huge difference getting into the Jero! First off, I have to climb up into the cabin, unlike just plonking my butt down into a normal sedan car, and secondly, it's a very different kind of driving experience to say the least.
I'll let the video speak for that, do turn on the closed captions! :)

i last sat in a new pajero v6 back in the late 90s. it was luxurious! very little road noise, quiet engine and pretty comfortable

Different level of 4x4 those, closer to modern day SUVs, yep glorious things they are 😊👍🏾

I remember my lady boss using pajero as her daily drive. And i once sat as a passenger before in a short journey and my first impression is this suv is built damn hard. The seat, the door, the interior. At that time i was just 18 years old and my boss must be 40 plus because her daughter is older than me. What a boss i have.. haha

Wow! I like her already, haha!! It's true tho, even now a lot of women these days are opting for SUVs instead of regular cars 😀

Agreed - manoeuvring around town and trying to park within a tight gap in a vehicle of this size can be a bit cumbersome. But once you get used to it, you will be fine. As for the comfort, yeah... You just have to live with it. What I like about trucks and SUVs of this generation is the great all-round visibility where you can actually see all 4 corners of the vehicle.

My dad has the same exact model but 2 doors with a 3 litre V6 engine power plant. I do have to agree even with a V6, the engine is just too underpowered & gosh it’s really a gaddem fuel guzzler.. It’s a very thirsty car indeed. Initially, I do have intentions of swapping the engine with a 2JZ twin turbo. But come to think of it again, I might loose the originality of the car.. Probably will just keep it original & best idea is to buy another Pajero & swap it with 2JZ engine for the sake of a project sleeper SUV…LOL🤣🤭

I daily drove a land cruiser kzj78w for close to a decade. 100% agreed, not the best vehicle to daily drive for a lot of reasons you mentioned, as well as being older and needing TLC on a lot of parts that are nearing the end of service life, these 4x4s don't like stop start traffic over short distances. Fuel economy is terrible through city commutes. They look great, and you feel safe, sitting above the rest of the traffic, however. Also many of the 4x4s from this era don't have airbags or abs. Definitely better as a 2nd vehicle paired with a car as you suggested.
Having said that, something like a new land cruiser 150 is great for city driving because they are engineered to behave like cars, have all the features, driver aids and comfort you would expect from a smaller vehicle - if only you can stomach the fuel bills, and manage to find parking :D

Very true especially if the 4x4s in question are those pre-urban SUV generation.
Personally I think the newer equivalent that might be possible as a daily are the turbo diesel variants, eg. Isuzu MU-X, Fortuner, Pajero Sport, any current 4x4 pick ups. These are more economical to run, have better power, and are just more all rounded for almost every use although they somehow still don't feel as tough as the older generation.
