    Why isn't the ice already in liquid form? Why does it need to freeze to then be broken

    • @ajd8848

      There is no ice in them. It's just water and a chemical separated by a barrier when you squeeze it you break the barrier which causes the two to mix and lowers the water temperature.

      @@OfoeNelson Because then it would be cold as soon as it was made. The cooling effect comes from the chemical and the water mixing. They only work for a short period of time. Breaking the seal just allows it to mix.

      @@OfoeNelson Nope, no freezing required. They're quite useful for that reason. You tend to find them in first-aid kits. The important thing is to not put them on bare skin as this video shows because it can cause an ice burn.

    Kindly, what is the procedure if it accidentally breaks and gets on skin ?

    • @Steroplast
      @Steroplast  Год назад +6

      Here's what you should do if an instant ice pack accidentally breaks and its content gets on your skin:
      1. Remove any clothing that may have the substance on it: This will prevent further contact with your skin. Be careful not to spread the chemical to other parts of your body as you remove the clothing.
      2. Rinse the affected area immediately: Use plenty of cool running water to rinse off the chemicals. Try to do this as quickly as possible to minimise the skin exposure time. Do not use warm or hot water as it may intensify the chemical reaction.
      3. Use soap: After rinsing with water, wash the area gently with mild soap. Rinse again thoroughly.
      4. Dry the area and apply a moisturiser: After cleaning the area, gently pat it dry and apply a fragrance-free moisturiser. This can help soothe any irritation and prevent dryness or cracking.
      5. Seek medical help if necessary: If you're experiencing severe pain, blisters, burns, or discomfort even after washing, seek medical attention immediately. If the substance got into your eyes or mouth, or you accidentally ingested it, seek immediate medical attention as well.
