Fiennes performance is original and i am amazed how he captured Lawrence and not contaminate himself with O'tooles performance...refreshing!
Ralph Fiennes does the awkwardness and the quirkieness of the character very well. Great actor!
A good portrayal. Fiennes is most certainly one of Britains finest actors. Good supporting cast too.
Best
Tragic though that they butchered it, by cutting off the start and the end, including both sets of credits!
This has been WRECKED by cutting off the start and end, as well as all the credits! How can they be so brutal ? !
Oh nooo really??
Since I was a child i was fascinated by Lawrence of Arabia. My father youst to mention him a great deal. I saw the movie with O´Toole many many times, and read The Seven Pillars of Wisdom also several times in english and spanish, also The desert queen, but haven´t seen the movie, and some bographies of T.S. Lawrence, and any article , scrap, photo, any information...this movie is great not only for the acting skills, history, but also deep psychological scarsin Lawrence on account of all his tormented life and in what for me has and will be a very great and beloved man...in so many ways. I think I was in love as a child with this man and this remains in what I guess are and will be the days I have left to live.
Most impressive beginnings for Ralph Fiennes.
For one who has an appreciation of the history of this matter, this movie was truly educational and entertaining. Fine acting by all. British film before the American style starting to taken a hold.
American here and I totally agree with you!! Hate to admit that the Brits are the masters of the stage! Ralph Fiennes is an epic actor!!
This is how great people makes the movies.. Movies that registered the history in the making❤
What a superb story. The world is not for the romantics nor the idealists. It is for the pragmatic and the wily. What a tragedy that the duplicity of the politician will always end up winning, while common decency withers and shrivels. The Sykes-Picot Agreement. All of the Middle East is still paying the price.
Only watched a great documentary on Lawrence and his life and it's an unreal story about this guy and his endeavors just imagining it in real life without the romantics, still is incredible enough.
I'll watch the movie although I've watched it as a kid ( this one, not the one with Peter O'Toole ) probably didn't watch too seriously as the documentary later on but I remember the story. Worth the time to watch it today
‘I arrived too late to see my father alive, and left too early to see him buried.’ A great deal of the script to this film would blend seamlessly with ‘Seven Pillars of Wisdom’, especially spoken by the actors playing their roles so powefully. A wonderful film. T. E. Lawrence. A great man indeed.
Bullshit
He betrayed his Arab friends
@@rainrain9378 history is not that simple mate...and I'm not saying the contrary, but he was most certainly a complex man in a complex time....
“NO ONE IS ALL GOOD OR ALL BAD” ??!! INTERESTING… SOMEONE SAID THAT 🤔💔
@@rainrain9378 They were certainly betrayed but my understanding is that he made promises backed by the British government who then reneged on their offers.
@@rainrain9378 Lawrence had a fascination with the desert and a strong link with the Arabs. At the same time, he was duty bound to England, and torn between two worlds. He tried
to get the British to back up his promises to Faisal, but they had their own agenda all along.
Such a great actor
This is very good the nuances in the telling of this story were superb, thank you for making this available to watch and enjoy.
TE Lawrence has always fascinated me ever since I saw Lawrence of Arabia in 1961,I was 8 years old then read 7 Pillars of Wisdom at 15 still have the book don't think this generation could understand it !
Lawrence of Arabia is 62 not 61
@Cat Magic well he did get the date wrong
If they can't understand it they can be assigned understandings of it
By the way, 7 pillars of wisdom is in the public domain in australia (project gutenberg). So it costs nothing to read it, except time. ^^
@@Jesus_isLord_andGod Remember Genesis 2:2&3 is the foundation of the the fourth commandment of Exodus 20:8-11 and Exodus 31:12-18. God never changes. Jesus is our example. Research where sun day observance tradition comes from. It’s eye opening.
Again somebody takes the time and effort to upload this fantastic drama for others to enjoy! Thank you so much for taking the time and effort all the best!😊👍
Ralph Fiennes did his best to look deep and complex, but meaningful dialogue was in short supply. The best lines were all in the David Lean masterpiece - ambiguity was never better served than by Dryden's '...a man who tells lies merely hides the truth, but a man who tells half lies has forgotten where he put it'.
On the contrary. David Lean's film is a masterpiece of the visual, but this film is a masterpiece of the power of the intellect over the limitations of the senses. Many people are, evidently, blind to this depth of humanity. More's the pity.
Thank you for sharing this film. What an incredible film, beautifully acted and performed and such touching moments portrayed.
One wonders if history might have been changed for the better had Lawrence succeeded in Arab independence? Many lives spared, lives lived better, longer and so perhaps a degree of peace for the Middle East? History has a way of turning on itself. Great movie, wonderful performances by all, a joy and an enlightened view of that era,
All the problems in that area are the direct result of world war ones outcome and the carving up of the area in the aftermath.
In response o your reply. I think had the Middle East conflict (s) been resolved the world in general would be better off politically, economically and certainly religiously ! I am an agnostic and who could blame me given the state of our world and ongoing conflicts.
.. Agreed..... It's because of post ww1 that the powers that be at that time drew a line in the sand (literally) and separated peoples (just look at the present day map of the middle east) .... Don't get me wrong, it's far more complicated than that and with following global war and consequences, its become far more complicated again... We humans are a disgusting species (the rulers of the earth) yet we fuck up everytime... We haven't learnt a damn thing from years of history.... We all are doing the same crap over and over again... 🌍🌍🖕
His job was to bring down Ottoman Empire since they controlled all of Middle East. It was to create more conflicts and wars and Not peace. Israel could not have been created by imported Europeans and Americans. He did his job well. Divided it into different regions and countries by provoking local clans against Ottomans. Current Saudi Clan were Sea Robbers based in Kuwait. Now they are so called Royals (will end soon) and ensure Global Money agenda is acted upon.
All Arab countries have had independence since the last century. Many of those countries are run by religious fanatics or tyrants & dictators. The first thing they did and continue to do is war, repression of human rights for women, beheadings, stoning, bombings. Pay attention!
These guys never stood a chance...the game had already been decided.
Probably the best presentation of Tee Hee's character and personality ever dramatised. Terrific television.
I have no idea how historically accurate this film is but it is one good movie.
Have you ever seen the original Lawrence of Arabia movie with Peter O'Toole ?
@@gardensofthegods Yes, I enjoyed that movie too. Peter O' Toole is one of my very favorite actors.
@@raywest7570 yes that's a great movie .
Have you ever seen the interviews where he's talking about his boozing days ? Some pretty funny stories
The scope and grandeur of Lawrence of Arabia places it amongst some of the most memorable films of our age. I would however submit that the events depicted in this film have had more significance in the 20th century than the capture of either Aqaba or Damascus, immortal achievements though they may be, they pale in comparison to the effects of carving up Arabia into predominantly French and English spheres of influence. Not to mention the Saudi's
not very accurate
"Happy are those who dream dreams and are willing to pay the price to make them come true". (Anon)
Saw this many years ago on television. Great drama: Fiennes and Siddig are superb.
Siddig was also in deep space nine
Thank you..
A very well done movie on this great man....
After his overthrow in Syria, Faisal was installed (with help from Lawrence and Churchill) as King of Iraq, where he reigned until his death in 1933. Lawrence receded from public view and served without distinction in the British Army and the Royal Air Force before he died in a motorcycle accident less than two years after Faisal's death.
he did more than just recede and serve without distinction, he changed his name to ESCAPE!
Actually, it was Gertrude Bell who installed Faisal, not Lawrence.
It is claimed that Lawrence was assassinated by MI5. A black car ran him off the road a short distance from his cottage Cloud Hill. The two boys that it was claimed that he tried to avoid were not allowed to attend the inquest. A soldier from Bovington Camp gave testimony that he saw the black car. He conveniently committed suicide a few days after the inquest.
Churchill was after Iraqi oil too; gave order to murder these stupid tribal menace or whatever horrid name he had called them in a handwritten letter! It was also Churchill who had planned to use mustard gas on them as he could win in a conventional way!
Shame on you Britain!
the 49minute 23sec video ''Between Iraq and a Hard Place,'' a 'comedic' look at Iraq's history, uploaded by Salzella222 / and the 45.44 ''Robert Newman's History of Oil,'' by Yambi [ or 'just' the 7.32 clip ''World War 1, An Invasion of Iraq,'' by BrutusCass ]
I have always believed this is true although maybe not entirely factual. He fought so hard, sacrificed so much. He threw everything he had at everything they had. But everything they had was just….bigger. It may not have broken him…but it broke his heart.
The British betrayed him 😡
@@hablin1 French had a part to play too,, much further into the background capital , probably, played a much larger role.
@@seb416 The British have now started an investigation into his death apparently they have found evidence that he was killed by the secret service maybe a combined effort from British and French ?
@@hablin1 the country didn’t. The politicians did. No politician can be trusted. They are motivated by power and money. If you took that away they would go steal somewhere else to keep from going to get a real job.
He had the adventure of his life and got to meet love of his life, handsome Arab boy Dahoum . Nothing else matters
I loved this film .Thank you
Great film. Fiennes oozes class. A great pleasure to see him work.
An excellent film, Thank you for posting
My favourite actor
Astonishingly good. The acting, the script, everything. Superb.
Superb drama, superbly directed, written and acted--not an epic like "Lawrence of Arabia" but the tragedy of the idealist pitted against monolithic political prejudice--and Fiennes is magnificent. So is Siddig as Faisal. The symbolism of the brass rubbing as a reference to knight-errantry and the unachievable quest is genius. These goddamned commercials every two minutes should be permanently banned!
Just fast forward to the end and restart it and that should do away with the ads
It was a made for TV movie, not intended as an epic, the subject matter lends itself to the small screen.

Wow. This is excellent. I hadn't seen it before just now and I am very impressed.
Absolutely brilliant

Good quality movie and educational....thanks.
Thank you yet again for another fine movie
Absolutely Awesome movie 🤗
Excellent film thank you
Ah yes, the duplicitous nature of politicians and beaurocrats very well displayed in this fine film.
Sooooo true
This super film came into my feed by accident….I own first editions of all the relevant books and am blindly in love with Lawrence 😂.…..Fiennes is staggeringly good looking…the perfect choice. Lawrence’s robes are on show permanently at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
Lawrence is played by Robert Pattinson in "The queen desert" a movie telling the true life of Gertrude Bell, his female version. Nicole Kidman play Gertrude
Amazing story.
ohhh i love this great actor ralph f😊 n his bro . Joseph f. In forever mine 😊 both superb ACTORS , ✅✅✅✅🥰❤️💖💞
Great movie by the way , ☺️❤️ dangerous man ☺️ looking forward to wtch them both again ralf n joseph F. Thank you 👍👍👍🥰🤣
A truly wonderful drama
Captivating insight into some aspects of this important man's life. Well-acted and told on a limited budget. Alas, no memorable score here !!
It was a made for TV movie, not a feature film.
Excellent considerring that fact! Lots of research went into it.
Just found this channel.. what a Playlist when one has difficulty sleeping.. thank you for the lineup.. have you a channel to suggest for some of the old t.v. mini series?? "Lost"? .. Sopranos "? "holocaust "?.. "six feet under"? "Dogwood"?
Bloody brilliant!!! He played Laurence
Enjoyed the movie , thank you
I had not seen this movie before. It was quite refreshing to see the acting; his portrayal of Lawrence seemed more humble and genuine than O’Toole’s pompous portrayal of Lawrence.
Such a good movie.
Fantastic acting beyond acting
Excelent. Is the ending missing where he joins the RAF? A bit of T E Lawrence trivia...The seven pillars of wisdom was required compulsory reading for all US officers training to go to Iran and Iraq maybe British officers too.
The paper pushers always taking down the heroes. He should have said "yes, Iam a bastard, do you speak and read 7 languages also?"
Superb!
Sad but true!
Jesus wept, thank you.
Outstanding film.
Cet acteurétait le meilleur choix possible.
Faisal became king of Mesopotamia after ibn Said conquered the Hejaz. As TE Chapman, Lawrence was legitimized, and went to Afghanistan, until the French demanded his recall. Lawrence joined the Royal Air Corps, and helped establish the ability for the UK to rescue downed aircraft pilots from the Channel and North Sea. In appreciation for his friendship with George Bernard Shaw, he again changed his name to T.E. Shaw.
If the walls of The Victoria Hotel, Damascus could talk!
Ralph Fiennes so hot in this Film. ♥️
So would you be if you'd just been to the desert.
Excellent Film.
Great actors 👏
……saw actor Denis Quilley in a stage play at Warringah Mall, in 1964. In the audience was Gordon Chater, to whom I spoke. Series’ on tv ‘Contrabandits’, starred Quilley.
Now that was a good film.
Interessantissimo film.
2021: Thank you RUclips. Outstanding ensemble in film. The Writer T.Lawrence was a genius for desert military Strategy for the Bedouin tribes.
it was always wars over oil ...Petroleum, & trade routes.
Next, wars over carbon credits.
Ironically I've just started reading the 'Seven Pillars of Wisdom' a few days ago then this popped up on YT
What a Romance 😅
Very interesting and decent story ❤
He's a Fienne actor. 🐸
A powerful film
thanx
1917....mad year....nations were forming Empires were crumbling to bits...
I have been wanting to see this movie for years which is why I'm so disappointed in whoever did the CLOSE CAPTIONING. There is only about 1/3 of the dialogue captioned and there is no description of events so I can't follow this. Also, it appears that this film was edited quite randomly without continuity between scenes. Hopefully, I will find a better version.
Great movie.
Fantastic movie! Loved every second, I actually know Jewish body guards of King Faisal
Jewish bodyguards of King Faisel ? oh please do tell because its just wierd enough to possibly be true, though it sounds like a joke.
@@jameslong9921 well, Israel is highly competent in whatever they attempt.
@@wisconsinfarmer4742 True I guess it's not so hard to be competent when your one of the chosen ones. I mean they are certainly competent at repression, propaganda and Arms manufacturing, almost as precise as the Germans.
Deceptions and subjective propositions, posturing and intrigues, truth to demi truth, lies to obscured reality. Play of cards with loaded games all resonating through how this very minute now passed to history. How the actions of these men over over 100 years ago are still being reacted to now.
He's no Peter O'Tool, but he's pretty damn close!
Indeed he is not Peter O'Toole. I fell in love with the desert when I saw the movie in the big screen in Africa and I was 13 years old, fell a little bit in love with his face too. Then I saw his doppelganger in S.Francisco California, in the 90's at Francis Drake Hotel, he look at me and I at him and I though I was seeing a ghost. He came after me trying to make conversation or pick a date. I kept walking and only smiled, I have lost my voice with the emotion and was 13 again. I was married and had two cousins with me, he stopped walking, we stopped a taxi, I looked back too see him a last time, my face was red like a tomato and in a last gesture he blew me a kiss, I catched and blew it back. RIP my beautiful Peter O'Toole, God's gift to woman. Latter I brought his book "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom" which have his true face, and a ton of bricks fell on me. A uncle of mine, my mother's brother, was his doppelganger and about the same age, blue eyes and long chin, everything the same face. Go figure!
Compromise is more than ideal. Because ideal is emotional..!!
Reality is that neither side were angels. The Arab side had and still has deadly conflicts that rise every now and again. The British were doing what they always did, trying to divide and conquer. Albeit this time it was against a background of fast crumbling empire and eroding power as a world power. Neither side had a moral position. Lawrence was a dreamer who became a martyr after falling in love with his adopted cause
Now watch Queen of the Desert, and learn about Gertrude Bell's role in drawing borders and reshaping the Middle East at Versailles.
Creativity of man woven into the fabric of history…
@23:27 🔪 "Right. 3:30 it is then". 😂
This is before "Schindler's List" then!
That man is from the series of downton abbey’s MR. Carson ( Jim Carter ) ... he looks so young , love his tone and acting 🎭
Must watch Ralph fiennes ENGLISH PATIENTS 🛩🏜
Plz upload Lawrence of Arabia 🏜🎠🏹
Frabjous 🕊️💝
Lawrence was a very small cog in a very big wheel. Peace in the Middle East has been in short supply, since Adam was a lad. Having worked in the Emeritus since 1970 there was always an under current of discontent amongst the Sheik’s.
As much as I like Ralph Fiennes, Peter Otoole did the definitive portrayal of Lawrence.
Different time of Lawrence's life.
Another British film good cast
as he’s being told to disappear and is reminded of his illegitimacy, I couldn’t help but think that we’re watching another film about Lawrence, not Curzon or his minions.
