How Judge Salas has the fortitude to stand strong and speak on behalf of her son despite her obvious pain is so courageous it made me cry. I parent should never have to bury their child. One psycho did all this. What for huh! Such a damn shame.
I've worked on getting laws passed, and unfortunately you're mostly competing against lobbyists of major corporations. Data collection makes a lot of money, so a law that protects everyone's personal information would never get passed unless you had millions of people on standby to protest. You have to start small, this law covers public officials like politicians, judges, police officers, and their immediate family members. Over time with enough backlash from the average citizens (numbers v.s. money) the law will most likely be revised. If the judge fought for everyone at the start the bill would've died in committee, and we'd never be able to make progress. It sucks, but that's how our system works.
Just thinking that Judge Salas and her husband lost four babies before they had their miracle baby, Daniel, and this evil man took him away, this absolutely breaks my heart. 😢
It's heartbreaking to lose these two beautiful men who were giving so much love to their community and everyone in their lives. I can only imagine the unbearable pain of Daniel's parents and, of course, Mark's loved ones too. My heart goes out to them.

I briefly grappled with this exact sentiment, out of fear of hateful comments or appearing selfish in some way (not saying you are, by any means). I only recently discovered just how easy it was to get such personal information. And, while I haven't personally wronged anyone in any way, I have come across toxic men in my past that I don't want to have any access to my present. Consider me terrified that this is allowed.
Well said, just what I commented too. Every individual is at stake when their personal information is publicly available on the internet. They can misuse such information on so many levels and crimes. I always warn my daughters not to post any personal information about themselves on any social media platforms. There are all kinds of predators online.

Bigotry comes in many forms. Labeling people is one of them. Can we just admit this piece of work was disturbed and had mental issues without inserting some bs "this group is bad" prejudice, devoid of any nuance? Yes, I'm a mother and my heart ached💔 literally, and I had a baby brother named Daniel that was killed by Covid. I didn't expect this...😢😢 I'm Latina, and I've traveled through certain places in the United States while in the military, and received death threats, just because of my ethnicity. I wonder if that had anything to do with the attack on Judge Salas' family.
Such a tragedy. Daniel and Mark, two of the good guys, whose lives were ripped short by a completely self absorbed man. The pain Daniel's parents went through and continue to go through is unimaginable.
This is one of the most heart wrenching episodes I watched in a long time. My heart aches for their loved ones. Kudos to Daniel’s parents for pushing through this choosing to making a positive change. Some angels come to earth and leave early but leave their imprints forever. May you know that life is about purpose and service; you have not lost Daniel. He gave you purpose and he inspired the world. And, what a great friend you have !
My son’s name is also Daniel. He is a kind soul and loving soul as well. This breaks my heart for these parents. I cannot fathom the loss. The thought makes my entire body ache.
My information is only available for the government and authorities and places I've given them (dentist etc) You can't find my address by googling my name. The age of phonebooks was wild, it had your name, address, telephone number, spouse and profession.. stalkers paradise.
I'm only a couple minutes in. But you do not target someone's children regardless the reason. Someone should not pay the price for someone else's doing. Period
Idk, the other found names indicate to me that he was not really done. I think the judge's child wasn't his actual target, he wanted HER. But she wasn't on the door and he had to pull through anyway. Which is probably what led to his 'early' suicide instead of going on with his absolutely sick rampage. It's just a detail in this gruesome case and doesn't change anything, but that's how I figured this went down.
Just for judges not common people because we don't matter I'm guessing. The internet should be stopped from giving any persons personal info not just judges
Capitalism should be controlled and regulated. I am completely serious. The internet, the mail, FedEx, its all about making money with no controls other than what the most wealthy want for their own profits.
This episode did a very respectable job of humanizing the victims. Although I will never know the depths of despair they felt I could sense the loss of Daniel's parents in particular. He really seemed to be all the things his family and friends said and more. What a loss!
This series is trash. They focus far too much on the "personal", weepy crap and not enough on the investigation and facts of the case. And there's the typical woke identity politics on top of that.
This story is horrible. I feel so badly for those that lost their lives. With that being said, everyone's information should be protected. Anyone can stalk anyone because their information is out there. Let's work on protecting everyone.
I feel so emotional watching Daniel’s mother speech and devoting this new law in honor of her son to make the difference and to give the meaning to his death. She is very intelligent and strong person
I remember seeing Judge Salas's heartbreaking video about her son sometime after it happened, but I don't think I realized Daniel's death was the cause of a deranged and hateful individual. The world lost someone special from Daniel's death because he was clearly on his way to doing amazing things with his life.
This monster had unresolved "mommy issues," he wanted all women to pay for his mother's shortcomings. My observation is mothers get held to a higher standard of conduct than fathers.
what strength of a character! talking about the incident with strength and resilience when your only child is yet to be laid to rest.. unimaginable.. kudos lady!
Mark sounds like a wonderful person fighting for a just and honorable cause, and it’s tragic that he was killed by a self centered loser with a nonsensical grudge.
Blinded by rage and hate will corrupt your moral obligations and will lead you down a path of destruction. It's a pity he couldn't recognize the strength and the individuals he needed in his life to overcome what ever he was battling. He died alone and Daniel died with love in his mother's embrace listening to her voice. They really were complete polar opposites. Marc and Daniel will be missed.
So true. As much as I despise Richard Nixon, his speech before White House staff after his resignation, is one of the most moving speeches I've ever seen. He acknowledges that in the process of hating your enemies, you end up actually destroying yourself. Unfortunately, this guy took two souls with him. Tragic.
In that moment when Daniel yelled no, he tried to step infront of his father and sadly lost his life. As horrible as that is, I think his death not only saved his parents but that of many more on the hit list. I believe the killer couldn't live with the fact of killing an innocent young life. I couldn't even imagine losing any of my children in any way, much less at the hands of someone else.

Calling a cr!minal a ‘monster’ would only flatter the cr!minal, so it is ineffective at dissuading any overly emotional male that read your comment. Of course you’re free to keep describing things with the type of wording you used in your comment, but, I guessed you might appreciate a different approach. (And yes, there is a difference between 1) having emotions, 2) being emotional and 2) being overly emotional to the point of comm!tting cr!mes).
Too many companies that profit from data collection have a fit if that law applied to everyone. Their teams of lobbyists would all but ensure it would have died in committee.
how many of us would react the way daniel did, when he saw a gunman, and instinctively shield your parent? i want to believe i would do the same thing, but i just don't know. they raised a brave, remarkable, young man. i believe, if he had lived, he would have done great things.
It’s crushing when anyone is murdered… but when it’s people who were capable of making such great change for others in this world? It’s even more disheartening. Both of these men had such kindness, passion, and motivation to improve the world the best they could but it was taken from them. It was taken from everyone.
That’s right. Some women & men have stalkers, bitter X’s we should all be protected. Anyone can find you on the internet. It’s funny how we the people don’t count. Still sad this good kid got killed though. Sounds like a great person❤
There are many things about this story that don't add up. The perpetrator hates women, yet he shoots and kills three men?? Additionally, they said that in the first shooting, he specifically asked for the victim to come to the door to sign for the delivery...yet at judge Salas's house he could have shot and killed her if he had asked her to come to the door to sign for the package. Instead, he shoots and kills the two innocent men. ? By the way - judge Salas (the week that this happened) was put in charge of a Jeffrey Epstein case. This whole thing stinks to high heaven.
I have a new punishment for murderers. On a 24/7 screen in their cell they have to watch videos of their victims lives and tributes to the value of their lives by people left behind. Constant reminder of the value of the life they took.

Yeah, this is a thing in the European Union. There is no way you can just find someone's address online. I am surprised it wasn't a thing in the USA. GDPR won't even allow employers to search your name on social media if you apply for a job but to just allow your address to be somewhere in the wild.

They should make a Law not to make any person's address Public.Remember A lawyer Was murdered as well.
I pray for these families. Can we upgrade Daniels Law to apply to everybody's privacy in the U.S.? Personal adresses and phone numbers of anyone should not be available online.
trazanna; I fully agree with what you write here… The issue, as well as anyone’s “ private” information being readily available online, is the fact there are “skip tracer” companies that can find ANYONE for a price…So, I’m really not sure what would need to be enacted to combat that issue? And still live in a land of freedom?
I remember when this happened. While having judges’ personal information private, that law should apply to everyone.
Absolutely!!
While I feel both empathy ad sympathy for these families, this law should be applicable to all not just judges.
How Judge Salas has the fortitude to stand strong and speak on behalf of her son despite her obvious pain is so courageous it made me cry. I parent should never have to bury their child. One psycho did all this. What for huh! Such a damn shame.
Why is Daniel’s law only protective to judges? In today’s society no information should be available to potential predators.
To demonstrate to us schleps that security is only for the elite.
Agree
I've worked on getting laws passed, and unfortunately you're mostly competing against lobbyists of major corporations. Data collection makes a lot of money, so a law that protects everyone's personal information would never get passed unless you had millions of people on standby to protest. You have to start small, this law covers public officials like politicians, judges, police officers, and their immediate family members. Over time with enough backlash from the average citizens (numbers v.s. money) the law will most likely be revised. If the judge fought for everyone at the start the bill would've died in committee, and we'd never be able to make progress. It sucks, but that's how our system works.
