Seeing Grinch ditch his m4 and pull out akimbo pistols then dropping down to one pistol is great representation of their slow descent to a sure but valiant and heroic death.
This has always made me wonder if the world ever found out about what Shepard did. Sure, TF141 got their names cleared and reinstated but I don't think it was ever said if Shepard's crimes were ever brought to light.
I'm sure that if Shepherd's crimes were brought to light, the following scenarios would most likely happen: TF-141 name is cleared. Shepherd's body will be removed from Arlington and reburied somewhere less memorable (perhaps even cremated and the ashes dumped into the ocean). Shepherd's name would be synonymous with that of Benedict Arnold and Vidkun Quisling. Future generations would revile him - in America as a despicable traitor with no sense of honor or loyalty and in both Russia and the rest of the world as one of two monsters who unleashed WW3 (the other being Makarov). Shepherd will go down in official history, not as the war hero he wanted to be, but as a war criminal.
funny is in MW III version of Rust, there is skull with throwing knive stick through left eye hole, right at position of where Price and Shepherd brawling. So it either easter egg or lead to another route : the sand storm back then buried Shepherd corpse, rescue team never found his corpse. I more believe this is just easter egg unrelated to main story since location of OG rust is next to river and very tall waterfall (where Price and Soap dropped down from) and no crashed heli around.
@@counterman-namreview516 It is. 1st, the OG mission took place in a place next to a river. There is no river or waterfall in Rust. 2nd, the map where Shepherd and Price faught really looks like Rust but it's not. Look carefully, noclip if you can. It's a totally different place. 3rd, OG MW and reboot MW are not connected.
Thank you,@@asswhip. Though, there are some considerable differences between Shepherd and The Boss. In fact, Joseph Allen would be much similar to The Boss than Shepherd, as Allen was used and discarded by Shepherd to further his ambitions much like how The Boss was used and discarded by the U.S. government.
Sandman and the Delta Team are the true heroes. Think about it. They held their ground, just the three of them only, to buy some time to the Helli pilot, Yuri, Price, and Russian president to escape. Their not afraid to die, to risk their lives for their fellow soldiers, and fought bravely until the very end.
In case some of you didn't know where did Frost go in this mission, there was a spec-ops mission "Black Ice" that you play as one of the TFT141-Delta Teams. The objective was to blast your way through the control room of the mine that Sandman and Price guys were in. When you reach the control panel, Overlord radioed you in a callsign of "Metal 0-4" in which is the callsign of Frost. He was ordered to blow up the controls and not knowing that it would cause the whole mine to collapse, in which successfully have the Russian president rescued while Sandman, Grinch, and Truck died (Also McCoy, who died in the lift). It still doesn't make any sense why Overlord ordered him to do that while the VIP and Delta Team were still in there.
@@Vedic-hs2es Initially, yes, but it wasn't just the control room that Frost managed to destroy. He literally activated self-destruct sequence which means it could gradually explode the mine. I think this could also explain why there's explosion everywhere in the mine while TF141/Delta were rescuing the president, even though we didn't cause any destructive action (except to doors and concrete floor) to the mine itself.
I try to pay attention to the plot in games and I thought about this too. My personal theory was that Price had such an amazing record that, while officially he was on everyone's shit-list, unofficially he still had some friends around the world at best and people were skeptical and cautious at worst, but nobody really wanted to track and kill Captain Price himself. Also proving he was still on the US/NATO's side throughout the story with the missions he and the 141 undertake, it wouldn't be difficult for Sandman to know something wasn't right with the Shepherd situation. And to be fair, it's world war 3, even if Sandman and Overlord were skeptical of Price, they would require all the help they could get and Price provided them with a lot during the game, like for example the Berlin tip or Volk's connection to Makarov
Wasn’t Sandman and Metal Team at Operation Kingfish? And Price sacrificed himself to save the rest of the team. They’ve worked together in the past and have a lot of trust in each other.
@@iareanoob2277 It's cannon because that was the mission that led to Price being captured by the russians and thrown into the gulag until they broke him out in MW2(2009), and yea its true COD themselves had the film made.
if you know your cod history, Price and metal zeroes did a mission before the events of cod mw2. This was not in any game as it is sort of a mini movie. This mission is where price get's captured hence he became prisoner 627. Metal Zeroes knew Capt price and they believe the guy as innocent
Honestly this was the mission that made me love Modern Warfare 3. I remember playing this game nearly a decade ago, getting to this mission and it really stuck with me, that in the game there is no way to save them. This was the game that changed people's perspectives on war, the previous COD games portrayed war as this exhilarating moment to prove loyalty to your country and made it seem like a one-man team was fully possible, but when you reach this mission you realize that it's the opposite. War is hell, not everyone get's to live. You will watch your friends die, you will see carnage, and you have no hopes in changing that outcome. It makes you step back and think about how just fucked up war really is.
Another interesting fact Price informed sandman about Volk being Makarov bomb maker and that his location is in Paris so he basically confirm the intelligence for that major operation. And after that operation took place Sandman informed Price about the meeting with Makarov in Prague saying we have tier 1 teams assigned to handle this but they're not going to make it in time but you're close. Price simple responded with very and I'll contact you when it's done. And one final thing Price had a cade to call Sandman, That being access code Black Viking which guaranteed him secure line to asset Metal 0-1 = Sandman
So...why would delta sacrifice themselves? As a tier 1 special missions unit, which is also based on the SAS...who price was with as well as ghost and soap... Delta knows that the mission always comes first and the objective is priority 1. That means doing whatever it takes to complete the mission even if it means ensuring others make it. Hence...the sacrifice of sandman, Grinch, truck helping tf141 save the Russian President and ending ww3.
It’s war; the rules go out the window. During World War II, the War Department worked closely with the Italian mafia to prepare for the invasion of Sicily (and then Italy proper) while also getting them to help secure American shipyards against German spies. It was truly all hands on deck, and a lot of plea deals were made and criminals let off in the name of shortening the war.
This is shoot and run game like typical FPS, but until now I didn't realize it had its own plot and lore. It connects the dots on what's going on the game story wise
Also have to remember that there are small oversights like this with this game in general. MW3s production was held up due to the legal issues going on with IW and sledgehammer at the time which means they had to release the game as polished as they could. They did a fantastic job with everything either way no doubt
A little bit of trivia on the briefing cutscene for Down The Rabbit Hole: because Task Force 141 was disavowed until after the Russian president's rescue, one of the imaging screens show the SAS emblem next to the Delta one instead. It may or may not be intentional but i'm guessing that it was done by someone up top to prevent people from getting the wrong idea.
