One of my favorite little details about the trilogy that I realized ties back to the Godot not being able to see red on a white background. This is actually a localisation-exclusive detail. The pun and name for Redd White is completely different in Japanese, so the symbolism was something added to the English release, likely because of how all three games had already been released at that point, allowing them to retroactively add details like that.
Am I the only one who feels Justice for All and Trials & Tribulations should have their names swapped? JFA just feels like a name to close such a perfect trilogy; bringing justice to all of the main parties of the three games.
I think JFA is a more fitting name for the second game, as there is a LOT of moral conflict. CASE TWO: Maya believes herself to be guilty even if Phoenix does not believe this. CASE THREE: Maximilian Galactica is innocent, but he’s a MAJOR asshole to others CASE FOUR: Your defendant is ACTUALLY GUILTY EDIT - JFA fits so well because of the finale case. It’s not defending every defendant in every case, it’s making sure that everybody gets the verdict they deserve.
I think its bc JFA is more fitting for, well, JFA. In that game, everyone gets what they deserve, a fair trial. Your defendant is guilty in the last case, and he gets justice. He gets what he deserves. JFA is named that way because justice in general is a big theme of the game.
I just finished playing the trilogy for the first time, and ending of Bridge to the Turnabout blew my mind. I was expecting Godot to be a red herring and the real culprit to somehow be Morgan Fey, so i was kinda shocked when it was revealed that it was him. So glad i managed to dodge that spoiler, despite being so late to play the game, really says a lot about the fanbase. Really loved the trilogy, although the second game felt a bit weaker than the other 2
I really like how Phoenix get Luke Atmey to indict himself as well, similar to Tigre but slightly difference because he messed up due to his own ego and slip of the tongue and not directly due to Phoenix's bluff.
T&T is definitely the best among the first five in the main series, but I like SoJ better with it being my 3rd best, and TGAA2/AAI2 at top 2 (can't differentiate). Though like the other comment says, TGAA2 builds so heavily on TGAA1 so it gets a lot of hype from that game as well. I'm not sure if T&T would be my 5th or 4th because TGAA1 had really good cases and I really like the new mechanics added.
I'm not gonna argue against Bridge to the Turnabout because that case is fantastic and an amazing ending to the original trilogy but to be honest I kinda prefer Turnabout Goodbyes and The Grand Turnabout. Also every kind of bannana is amazing.
Nah My 3rd favorite game in the series My list 3. Trials And Tribulations 2. The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve 1. Ace Attorney Investigations 2 Trials and Tribulations is amazing it's just that the third case can be good and funny but it's super annoying sometimes. Great Ace Attorney 2 has no cases I dislike and it's amazing. AAI2 is close to perfection in my opinion.
Trials And Tribulations has the best set of villains compared to all the games. Dahlia Hawthorne is a great example of a two-faced antagonist. A nihilistic and cynical demon disguised as an innocent and meek angel who will cut you down without you noticing. Arguably the most scary villain in the franchise because of how realistic she feels as a character. Luke Atmey is an enjoyably smug and arrogant egoist but leaves an impression as one of the more intelligent antagonists in the series. Maybe not on the same level as Damon Gant but he is as smart as how he claims to be. Even Furio Tigre is fun to watch as absurd as his inclusion in the plot is. He is the weakest antagonist compared to the others in the game but not bad all around. And no, I did not include Godot. He is a great character but I never considered him a villain and I think neither do others.

Having almost finished The Great Ace Attorney 2, I think T&T is now the second best game in the series. That being said, TGAA2 borrows heavily from TGAA1 (to the point I'd say you can't play TGAA2 without playing the first one) so I think T&T is still the best standalone AA game.

Sure, JFA’s 2nd case is amazing (in my opinion), but TAT is probably the best, since I didn’t know the music, gameplay, or any plot elements. The satisfaction of those perfectly timed music switches between objection and pursuit. While I’m not the most “emotionally involved” when it comes to this game, bridge to the turnabout was a rollercoaster between laughing at the child, to getting pissed off by godot, and actually feeling a bit bad for Armando, when I get to expose the truth to some amazing music, and returning spirits where they belong, all with a powerful OBJECTION! wait nvm just realized that edgeworth gets away with pretending to be a defense attorney to buy time for Phoenix’s insane recovery, seriously man is walking instantly out the hospital, no broken bones even after falling into the eagle river and after probably getting scorched by the flames on the bridge, 0/10 so unrealistic smh Phoenix Wright is known for it’s realistic gameplay and also spirit channeling WHAT

Tbh T&T was my favourite, until TGAA and TGAAR came out in the west. Those two games do belong in a single slot, as they are so intrinsically webbed together, but I have found myself, more times than any in the series, thrown through a loop, whilst also keeping the feeling that I've figured it all out from the start. I've been blown away by the amount of well written twists, real and enjoyable characters, and how the mystery of it all collapses into the final two part case, how every single case Ryunosuke has worked on has significance in the end. The takes on both historical and fictional characters in relation to both the Sherlock Holmes and Japanese history was incredible. (Natsume Soseki was a real person, who wrote several books, including one titled I am a Cat hilariously enough, and his residence in great Britain was faithfully reconstructed, though it was modeled on his residence in Clapham, not on baker street. But that's just nitpicking. His attitude and misfortune was also well represented, as the Real Natsume Soseki was quoted as "The two years I spent in London were the most unpleasant years in my life. Among English gentlemen I lived in misery, like a poor dog that had strayed among a pack of wolves." Love the attention to detail) The music is fantastic, a wonderful mix of Traditional japaneese and imposing british orchestra, and the difficulty feels just right throughout the whole thing. I would wish the prosecutors were a little more aggressive (In terms of that nothing beats Manfred Von Karma's ability to shut you down for every word, and how he completely controls the court) and I do wish the deduction sections of investigation could be sped up a small bit, to be more like the final deduction in fact, but I still enjoyed those aspects, and I loved the games wholeheartedly. TGAA and TGAAR are absolute masterpieces, and what little I have to complain is simply either pure opinion, or minor enough to be mostly ignorable.
AA3 in my opinion kinda represented the natural "end-point" for AA on a conceptual level, namely in the Godot and Iris twists. The franchise essentially choose to "break" itself by actively subverting the idea of "murder is a sin" (Fun Fact: The kanji for "crime" also means "sin") and the idea of some black/white moral conceit regarding the truth, ideas which in effect utterly destroy the central entertainment of the games from a conceptual level. It forces the player to face extremely difficult emotional ideas in a way which doesn't at all show restraint, and yet the ending at the end still makes you feel hopeful; Phoenix succeeded Mia truly, Maya was able to fully gain closure regarding her mother, Godot found spiritual peace, and Iris and Phoenix reconnected and it's inferred in the credits she'll eventually be released. There are...many problems with the post-trilogy games, but in the end the biggest one is that AA3 was the end point. What imagination is there now in solving random murder mysteries with hammy culprits, when that illusion is now broken? The franchise in effect killed itself in order to give the characters its ending, and now all we've been watching is its shambling corpse.
for some reason i still think the first game is the one with the most solid cases overrall, every other game has at least one bad case imo, T&T has 3-3 unfortunately, but it was fun 1-1 sets up everything nicely, even though it may not have aged well in a second playthrough 1-2 introduces extremely important characters, also giving basis to basically everyone's development by then (Phoenix, Maya, Edgeworth and even Gumshoe), and some information from this case will set up the next two games, especially for Maya's development 1-3 develops them further, despite being a rather weak case, it also introduces the ladder/stepladder joke ok that's awesome 1-4 begins Edgeworth's character "arc", unless you consider 1-2 to be the beginning 1-5 is an awesome case, it also introduces Ema, and as you have mentioned, Phoenix does feel "out of character" here because he feels more experienced, like end of trilogy Phoenix, which makes sense because the DS port was in 2005, and the first three games were released already
BANNANA GOOD (See i watched the whole thing) I'm pretty hard to please, but AA3 oh god AA3 is CRIMINALLY good and that final case oh, it was perfection.
Well while I agree that its a very very good and strong ace attorney game but I wouldnt say its the best form my point of view but I would definitely put it on 2nd or 3rd place if ranked
Ehhhhh, it's the best game to many since the story/characters are great and it's a great finale to the series too. But as a GAME, it doesn't really do anything that the 2nd game already did. Unlike every other AA in the series. But I don't care which one is the best, they're all great imo.
JFA is the best Ace Attorney game actually. Best tutorial case, best second case, best filler case (and the best case in the series, which is Big Top) and the best ending case, with the best pursuit theme, best characters, best plots, best lines, best art and best OST period. It’s a perfect game all around.

I’ve been wondering for awhile, have you played every Aa game? I noticed your videos are almost exclusively on the trilogy. And if you have why do you focus only on the trilogy?
I've seen 5 and 6 on youtube and played 1-4 myself. Not having a 3DS definitely hurt me, so I decided I wouldn't talk about those games until I could play them myself.
Agreed. T&T is the peak of the franchise. It's also proof why the no spoiler rule is conceptually stupid and destructive for the franchise. You can't create a game as perfect as this one if you're not allowed to build off of previous games
After having played The Great Ace Attorney 2, I will say now that T&T just barely isn't included into my top 3 AA games. As much as I absolutely love everything that T&T brings, the GAAC takes the cake for me imo My Top 3 AA games: 1. DGS2 2. AAI2 3. DGS Honorable mention: T&T, just barely edging it into the top 3
I'm not sure if you've said whether you were going to do or not on another video, but will you be looking the games beyond the original trilogy at some point?
It's definitely up there but it has a ton of flaws to me. While she's a top tier villain, Dahlia being the main villain for THREE of the 5 cases is a bit much and I'm not that fond of 3-2 and 3-3 as cases despite liking the villains. This also has the unfortunate side effect of T&T having all its villains be obvious besides the final killer. Godot also has a great role in 3-4 and 3-5 but he's kind of meh as a prosecutor imo. I honestly like SoJ as a standalone better than T&T.
@@D14MBK Nothing. She's a great villain. It's just that having a character be the main antagonist of 3 out of 5 cases is a bit much. I like a bit more variety.
Investigations 2 and The Great ace attorney 2 are just so much better im sorry while this game is outstanding it just dosent hold a candle to those games where every case is so connected and well thought out
The way you said Furio tigre threw me off since spanish is my first language and his name is just spanish words which is how ive always pronounced the name. lol
Turnabout Memories is the best intro case in the Ace Attorney trilogy but it's also a pretty noticeable retcon. Phoenix not mentioning Mia as one of the reasons why he became a lawyer even though she saved him is ridiculous. How is that less important than Miles and Larry defending him in grade school. I think Farewell, My Turnabout is the best case the series.
I have to say that T&T used to be my favorite game before I played TGAAC and Investigations. In my opinion, TGAAC2 is the best one now with AAI2 as the close second. But as far as the villains go, Dahlia still terrifies me the most. Everything about her is just so sinister, so when you hear her theme you just know everything's about to go to shit. Other than that, T&T falls flat compared to Investigations 2 and TGAAC. Case 3 especially pisses me off.
I don't think anyone needs to know why this is the best unless they never played and if you never played then get out of here if you don't want your life or bemissble
I'm really just here for people to lay on praise for T&T. Up until I played the Great Ace Attorney, I was feeling pretty bummed out that this was the series' peak since... y'know, DD and SOJ kinda sucked. Anyways the Great Ace Attorney literally made investigation sequences 100x better so I'm hoping to see a new game that takes advantage of it, and maybe fixes the trainwreck that is Athena and especially Apollo's characterization. or whatever fuck it maybe give Apollo a fifth dumb backstory lmfao
While I find Trials and tribulations to actually be my least favorite of the og trilogy, its still a VERY good game, and on my AA game tier list its an easy A tier
Idk I found it kinda boring compared to the 1st and 2nd games, with an extremely transphobic portrayal (or rather, that they were used as a punchline for their gender non-conformity) that soured the rest of it, with kind of a sub-par soundtrack fwir Like I'd definitely rather play the whole game than sit through Turnabout Big Top again, but I really don't understand what so many people see in it Playing as Mia was cool though, wish we got more of that Idk, maybe it's just that case 3-3 was so bad with the chef and Dual Destinies had a chance to fix it but didn't that made me dislike TT in hindsight? Edit: I take back what I said about the OST, it's alright but still not as good as the first imo

What imagination is there now in solving random murder mysteries with hammy culprits, when that illusion is now broken? The franchise in effect killed itself in order to give the characters its ending, and now all we've been watching is its shambling corpse.
for some reason i still think the first game is the one with the most solid cases overrall, every other game has at least one bad case imo, T&T has 3-3 unfortunately, but it was fun
1-1 sets up everything nicely, even though it may not have aged well in a second playthrough
1-2 introduces extremely important characters, also giving basis to basically everyone's development by then (Phoenix, Maya, Edgeworth and even Gumshoe), and some information from this case will set up the next two games, especially for Maya's development
1-3 develops them further, despite being a rather weak case, it also introduces the ladder/stepladder joke ok that's awesome
1-4 begins Edgeworth's character "arc", unless you consider 1-2 to be the beginning
1-5 is an awesome case, it also introduces Ema, and as you have mentioned, Phoenix does feel "out of character" here because he feels more experienced, like end of trilogy Phoenix, which makes sense because the DS port was in 2005, and the first three games were released already
3-3 is entertaining asf tf you mean?
I like large bananas, also amazing video! Really been enjoying your content!
Glad you like them!
1st time playing at somebody other than Phoenix? Why does nobody remember the brief period that you play as maya and farewell my turn about
Have you played the great ace attorney games yet?
Check my channel. Currently playing them though it might get a bit sparse since I'm starting school.
@@tbone415 are you in high school? Damn. I’m almost 20. It’s pretty weird now knowing I’m in a time where my peers are becoming the next youtubers.

This is really the best game in the series. Could you make a video about spirit of justice?
Definitely going to talk more about the post trilogy releases in the future
@@tbone415 greattt, looking forward to it
BANNANA GOOD (See i watched the whole thing)
I'm pretty hard to please, but AA3 oh god AA3 is CRIMINALLY good and that final case oh, it was perfection.
Troll?
I am sending my laugh to you. It will arrive in 3 to 5 business days.

@@tbone415 oh i see. You may honestly be better off just waiting a few years to see if they get a console port then,
@@donnie1774 It's sad that they don't. I haven't been able to find a good emulator to run the games either, which is disappointing.
Yo bro make a video about aai2
Agreed. T&T is the peak of the franchise. It's also proof why the no spoiler rule is conceptually stupid and destructive for the franchise. You can't create a game as perfect as this one if you're not allowed to build off of previous games
That’s literally what TGAA2 does. In fact it’s literally the biggest ‘fuck you’ to the no spoiler rule in the whole franchise lol
The peak of the franchise is JFA.
After having played The Great Ace Attorney 2, I will say now that T&T just barely isn't included into my top 3 AA games. As much as I absolutely love everything that T&T brings, the GAAC takes the cake for me imo
My Top 3 AA games:
1. DGS2
2. AAI2
3. DGS
Honorable mention: T&T, just barely edging it into the top 3

Large bananas baby
Trials and Tribulations is good however it doesn't have Enoch Drebber so it quite simply cannot be the best.
OBJECTION!
I'm not sure if you've said whether you were going to do or not on another video, but will you be looking the games beyond the original trilogy at some point?
Watch my Apollo Justice video if you haven't already.

I like large bananas
@@Tearnalte Bananas are pretty awesome!
What's wrong with Dahlia as a villain??? You're reaching
@@D14MBK Nothing. She's a great villain. It's just that having a character be the main antagonist of 3 out of 5 cases is a bit much. I like a bit more variety.
Investigations 2 and The Great ace attorney 2 are just so much better im sorry while this game is outstanding it just dosent hold a candle to those games where every case is so connected and well thought out
I have a question should turnabout begginings be the first case or not or was it better the way it was
The way you said Furio tigre threw me off since spanish is my first language and his name is just spanish words which is how ive always pronounced the name. lol
ngl, i like large bananas
Turnabout Memories is the best intro case in the Ace Attorney trilogy but it's also a pretty noticeable retcon. Phoenix not mentioning Mia as one of the reasons why he became a lawyer even though she saved him is ridiculous. How is that less important than Miles and Larry defending him in grade school.
I think Farewell, My Turnabout is the best case the series.
“best intro case” Umm, Lost Turnabout?
“Farewell, My Turnabout is the best case” Big Top would like to have a word with you.
2007? This isn't Apollo Justice
The DS version of Cornered 2004 wasn't actually the original! Weird for us Westerners to think of these as GBA games.
I like large bananas
Trials and Tribulations is the best game cause the beautiful sight of Mia’s balloons 😏
You like large banana
how do people think 3-3 is not better than 3-2 is my question. 3-3 is so much more interesting

I love Trials and Tribulations, but for me the best Ace Attorney game is Spirit of Justice
Oof, very unpopular opinion indeed.
@@mayko5989 it's fine
The best is definitely Justice for All because of the large bananas. I like them
I have to say that T&T used to be my favorite game before I played TGAAC and Investigations.
I dislike small bananas.
I don't think anyone needs to know why this is the best unless they never played and if you never played then get out of here if you don't want your life or bemissble
I prefer dgs2 and aai2 over it but it's my third favourite definitely the best in the trilogy

i liked apollo justice better tbh
I'm really just here for people to lay on praise for T&T. Up until I played the Great Ace Attorney, I was feeling pretty bummed out that this was the series' peak since... y'know, DD and SOJ kinda sucked. Anyways the Great Ace Attorney literally made investigation sequences 100x better so I'm hoping to see a new game that takes advantage of it, and maybe fixes the trainwreck that is Athena and especially Apollo's characterization. or whatever fuck it maybe give Apollo a fifth dumb backstory lmfao
nah bro its AAI2
TGAAC
While I find Trials and tribulations to actually be my least favorite of the og trilogy, its still a VERY good game, and on my AA game tier list its an easy A tier
Idk I found it kinda boring compared to the 1st and 2nd games, with an extremely transphobic portrayal (or rather, that they were used as a punchline for their gender non-conformity) that soured the rest of it, with kind of a sub-par soundtrack fwir
Like I'd definitely rather play the whole game than sit through Turnabout Big Top again, but I really don't understand what so many people see in it
Playing as Mia was cool though, wish we got more of that
Idk, maybe it's just that case 3-3 was so bad with the chef and Dual Destinies had a chance to fix it but didn't that made me dislike TT in hindsight?
Edit: I take back what I said about the OST, it's alright but still not as good as the first imo
i prefer the 1st one
Good arguments, unfortunately, The Great Ace Attorney.
