Thank you for watching, and for taking the time to write. I just want to be clear that while this may be seen as a broad-stroke overview of the Moya M1 and its experience. I'm not sure that it qualifies as a complete review...
We can all hope (for a scaled down affordable design version)!!! Congrats to the passionately and talented designer! His dream has never been more Vivid!
@@_944audiophile you mean $105,550 in standard finish and $110,550 in bespoke color. It has never been $93k for as long as we have been entrusted with the brand.
Easy elegance.... The ability to make a demanding task appear simple... The mind boggles at how a scaled down version of the design may perform (in relative terms) ... But perhaps the point here IS that this scale of reproduction simply requires loudspeakers of such dimensions. The physics are undeniable. Staggering indeed. Thanks for presenting them in this content. 👍🏻
Bill, I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity to learn more about these amazing transducers from "Dic." You know, I told you when I was there, I still have my original 1986 "B&W Matrix 1" monitors - special editions with internal van den Hul wiring - one of the first innovations he brought to market!
I had Pioneer speakers for a while in the 1980's that had front and rear 8" bass drivers connected by a steel rod for the same reason. Forgot about those until you bought it up in the video.
WOW the start of track 2 was sublime even over U Tube i have never heard a speaker with the body, tonal colours, and accuracy. New Benchmark isn't overhype. When i first heard them on the audio show video and people were commenting that they sounded like farts, i was surprised they couldn't hear they were reproducing the instrument with great accuracy and other speakers would of fallen flat on their face and waffled and distorted. Probably not the best music for a public demo but i understand why it was chosen because of its ability to reproduce the piece accurately where most others couldn't.
Another super informative great video from you Greg. I had the pleasure of attending a very convincing master class on speaker design by Lawrence Dickie when he introduced Gaya speakers at an event in an high end audio store in The Hague, The Netherlands. As you said a humble and greatly passionate and friendly, easily approachable genius. I have never heard these speakers nor will even own them, but I will take your word for it that they might be the best what is out there right now. But you do need the space to let them breathe the music as you described. Thanks for your effort. 👍

LOL... What would you expect it would take to connect all this flagship gear in such an exceptionally transparent and articulate system in GTT’s 20′ by 35′ by 11′ primary listening room? There are some long runs, and the system is biamplified, so... ☺

Big fan of Lawrence Dickie and this speaker and the Gayas and their daddy the Nautilus, but did i hear right when you said, do what ever you can to hear these speakers, IT WON'T BE CHEAP . Surely you don't have to pay to hear them, the more people who hear them and wax lyrical about their performance the better, free advertising
So, what I was suggesting was, as Bill stated, given their size and complexity, it must be seen as unrealistic they will be set up at shows, even at larger regional or national events. As such, appointments to see them in New Jersey will likely be necessary, and given the cost of doing business today, expecting to just show up at GTT and "walk in" to an open listening session is just as unrealistic.
@@theaudioanalystunderstood, I was assuming they would be permanently set up in a listening room and it would be used as a reference when down selling . I understand it's a huge investment in money and time to set them up
Nice review, thanks. FYI, the mid - woofers are more like 8" and the woofers closer to 11" as I've owned both the G2S2s and the Spirits and have measured both of their bass drivers.
Hello. I'm not sure where you've gotten this mistaken information, but the Moya's use mid-woofers that are 175 mm drivers, which are 6.889" or just under 7", NOT 8" as you mistakenly suggest. The same is true with the woofers, which are 225 mm drivers, or 8.858", much closer to 9", and nowhere NEAR the 11" dimension you mistakenly imply. I'm sorry, but you seem completely misinformed on the Maya M1 driver complement.
@@theaudioanalyst First, look up GTT audio video of the Spirits and you'll see how he explains that Lawrence only includes the cone not the surround as other manufactures do WRT driver diameter. It's also mentioned in half the Giya reviews. Second, I literally owned the G2 S2s and own the Spirits so, you, my friend are completely ill - informed. Do a little research next time. Third - the model is Moya not Maya. Lastly, a little advice - do away with the all caps, it's unbecoming unless you're 12 and under.
@@sbonamo First, I clearly mistyped Maya (corrected), as there can be no question that I'm well aware of the what the speaker's name is. Further, I don't need to go back to "look" at anything to understand Dic's choices, as I've known him for over fifteen years. And to that end, the published dimensions are exactly what I shared. The driver's piston area - without the addition of the surrounds or included basket frames, are as measured. If you knew him, you'd understand why he distances himself from such "exaggerated" measurement practices. As to the Giya G1 Spirits, I have had them in my room. I did the first US review of them back in Issue TAS 283, May-June 2018 - www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/vivid-audio-giya-g1-spirit-loudspeaker/ Finally, as to my use of capitalization, or anything else related to how I choose to express myself, I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
@@theaudioanalyst Here's another tip - get off your, "I'm old and have reviewed a lot of speakers and know the designer so I can do no wrong", it's unbecoming and pompous. Second, I've conversed with Lawrence more than once and I didn't just hear some Vivids a few times, I 've owned his products for years. (Then there's your first review, then your second review which contradicts the first review). Thirdly, I never stated your driver diameter specs were incorrect, I said, "The mid - woofers are more like 8" and the woofers closer to 11" as I've owned both the G2S2s and the Spirits and have measured both of their bass drivers." And finally, the caps make you look like a child, there's no agreeing or not. Take it for what it's worth. Have a good one!

When we stop to be open to growing and increasing our knowledge, we may as well just check out. Here is a tip for you - if you start a conversation by suggesting that the designer of the product under examination is somehow misinforming the public about his products - in particular, by how he chooses to accurately portray the piston area of the drivers he is using, even if it falls outside the parameters used by other manufacturers, perhaps you may see how THAT choice may be viewed as "unbecoming and pompous." And your misunderstanding as to the use of capitalization, italicization, quotation marks, and special punctuation in online communications, to emphasize or to somehow be more expressive, then again, you are the one completely misinformed.
