    Charlie Kunz brings back memories of the past when we only had the radio to listen to and a pleasure to sit back with eyes shut listening to his piano melodies played by ear.

    Hi all. Charlie was my grandfather. Sadly I never met him but feel I know his professional life from fans like yourselves. He sure had a sound if his own.

      Hi Jem, I was born in 1943, and there was never a time that your grandfather wasn't in the house. He was a great favourite of my father's and mine too. A love of Charlie Kunz was about the only thing we had in common. :-) I'm amazed that there is so much of his music available to listen to on the internet today. He still gives me great pleasure.

      Peter Clark I’m so pleased Peter. He certainly gave a lot of joy to a lot of people and is still easy listening. I was a DJ for a while joining tunes together. I like to think I carried on his legacy just a little 😀

      @@jem4054 Hello again Jem.
      The other day I was listening to some Chopin and the thought crossed my mind, "I wonder if Charlie Kunz ever played or recorded any light classics. ? Strauss immediately came to mind. Can you imagine "Blue Danube " played with your grandfather's trademark lilt. ? I think it would sound wonderful. There would be many other pieces of course that would be hugely enjoyable given the Charlie Kunz treatment.
      Kind Regards
      Peter C

    Charlie Kunz had a magical unique style of his own. He was a great artiste but he was lucky that in his day there were lots of great Songwriters with great songs for him to play. Wonderful melodies which we have allowed to drift into oblivion and replaced with primitive sounds masqueraded as music. Were it not for the wonder of RUclips and Uploaders we would have no music at all as the Radio Airwaves have been void of music for decades. Shameful.

    Nice foot-tapping session from Charlie Mills (oops sorry, Kunz...:-)
    This particular medley is so Glad-esque, it's uncanny in places.

    His style reminds me so much of the man, whose name I forget played at The Peacock Alley Lounge at The Waldorf Astoria in NY YORK circa 1982. Does anyone know his name?

    • @wordsmith52
      @wordsmith52  7 лет назад

      Thank you for your comments - I think many players emulated some or all of his style in later years. Waldorf Astoria is a nice place to be! maybe someone will recall the pianist's name

      Hi, Vicki--There was a talented pianist who often filled in at Peacock Alley back then by the name of Ronnie Whyte. He was virtually un-stumpable when it came to the American Songbook. Might it have been him?
