I’ve had mine for over a year now and it has been awesome! Zero failures of any kind.Great gun for the $549 that I paid for it and much more accurate than I can ever hope to be!
Love mine! Fit is tighter than a mouse's ear!. Shot initially at 7 yards, I like shooting golf balls you get immediate results on accuracy. Well I bounced 7 goofball in a row and subsequently shot the others at where ever they landed; about 10 to18 yards and still hit every one I aimed at! 1911's were my T0 weapon in 2nd Tanks and I'm very impressd!
Love mine. I have a nice, leather pancake OWB holster with inside thumb snap for it. The combo makes it a great pistol for a CCW. Doesn’t print at all and, as expected, feels and shoots great.
Bought my stainless mil spec 6 years ago. Over 5000 rounds through it and I maybe had 1 stove pipe. That was because I didnt clean the extractor for probably 2500 of those rounds
That's a good group for combat accuracy. No excuses :) Everything seems authentic except for the slanted slide serrations and an opened up ejection port.
The BEST entry level 1911 for frist time handgun buyer's.for me this is my CCW filled with Winchester Ranger t series and Federal HST 230gr hollow and Underwood extreme penetrator
Love the classic look of this gun. Grouping looks pretty good to me. 👍 More than adequate as far as combat accuracy is concerned from what is essentially a service pistol. Certainly better any of the 1911s I used to shoot when I was still active duty.
How has your experience with it been? I was lucky enough to be gifted one and I pick it up in about a week. Really looking forward to getting it out on the range
@@natlovell122 really nice 1911! I wanted simply it has to closest look to a WWII M1911A1 with just enough modern features without ruining that classic Browning look. It’s been super reliable so far. Over 400 rds through it with only two FTE. One was my kid insisted on trying a .45ACP, the other was me having too much fun and limp wristed a round. I highly recommended it, especially you can get spare mags for cheap on EBay. This is all you need. For me, if you really want modern .45ACP, there are much more modern alternatives than the 1911. ** gently caresses the FN FNX-45 Tac **
It is a very, very close rendition of the ones I carried in the Army for 25 years. Mine was smithed to replicate the last issue 1911a1 that I carried to include walnut grips.
This video does not come up when searching for reviews of the Springfield Armory Mil Spec 1911 because the title does not contain any of this information. Just something to keep in mind if you want people to watch your videos.
Nice but the sights are not "mil spec", fortunately. The originals were pretty minimalistic and just flat out darn hard to see. I have an old series 70 and it was my first 1911. I took it out to shoot again after about 15 years. It shot very nice with my old handloaded target ammo also over 20 years old. It did punish me for my high grip and bit the heck out of the web of my right hand. I had forgotten that old slab sides likes a lower grip or the extended hammer will pinch your hand with the narrow grip safety. Made me appreciate the beavertail on my later models. I shot several real mil spec 1911's since they were still issue weapons when I served in the 70's. By the time the Baretta came out I was too senior to be required to qualify with it.
It helps a lot to paint the front stubby sight with a bright glow in the dark paint. Go with white down first, then put the neon glow paint over the white base.
Old school 1911 doesn't have the slide serrations angled. That is the most obvious difference. Many year ago Springfield Armory had a model called G.I. that was a 100% copy even with small sights and straight serrations.
Gosh, anything you have around handy to shoot is fine! For plinking just buy any load you can. For defense, just stay with one of the name brand defensive loads from CCI/Speer, Federal, Winchester, etc. The gun seems to run well with about anything. Roy
I got mine for $499 in January 2020, the price went up after the stupid pandemic/panic buying. Every store in my area was selling the crap out of these back then but I don't see them anymore.
The original design and WWII/WW1 era guns all came with 7-round mags as designed by Browning. It wasn’t until the late 1980s they began to experiment with 8 round mags. Roy
Not quite as close to a WW2 clone as it could be. Nice pistols tho. They basically took the GI pistol and made quite a few changes. I would have preferred if they left it alone to be a closer clone.
Yeah, but it certainly shoots better and is generally more reliable, better trigger, sights, etc. You can find a more basic gone from makers like Armscor, Girsan, etc. if that’s what is interesting. Roy
I have a springfield milspec and long beach operator and although the operator is a better built gun……. For some reason i find myself still carrying my milpsec
It might be, but does cost more and isn’t a clone/copy of a WWII era 1911, which this one is supposed to mirror. One is historical, one is “modernized” for consumer use. Roy
Absolutely the most beautiful pistol in existence… The original 1911 45acp. 🤠👍🏼🇺🇸
I’ve had mine for over a year now and it has been awesome! Zero failures of any kind.Great gun for the $549 that I paid for it and much more accurate than I can ever hope to be!

@@barrydavis968 I love shooting mouse with an air rifle or air pistol.
Been shooting this gun for awile. Super accurate 1911. A upgrade on military sights. Best bang for the buck.
Arched mainspring and short trigger is my go to set up
Love the short trigger
Looks like my first original ww2 model
I love the 1911, the slide bite, not so much!🤣
Absolutely love that you handle the gun with the chamber opened...safety first...my grandpa would be impressed!
Appreciate your kind words sir. Roy

It is amazing how even a full sized, 5" all steel 1911 can still be carried comfortably! Roy H.

Great video Mr Huntington!! Thank you Sir.
Thanks 😊 1911 for life! They are the best!
Thank, Roy! Add another Springfield to my list...

I have one. And it's the best hand gun I have. Carry it more then all others.
I have this gun and I love it. Everyone that that shoots it seem to like it as well. Most of the positive comments are to do with the trigger.
Perfect truck gun. No tears if you scratch it. No crying if it bounces around. Just pull it out and finish the business.
If I could wish upon a star 💫 make it a Mill spec 1911 😄😆

It outshoots my WWII era Colts for sure! Roy
Just bought one! $620 total, that’s with the tax INCLUDED! Heck off a deal!

I rocked two courses at Thunder Ranch using a Mil-Spec. Not one failure.
I know what you mean, Dan. Buy it, clean and lube it, shoot it … great guns. Roy
@@fmgpubs Roy, the only "upgrade" I made is the use of Wilson Combat 7 round magazines. They are superior to the included magazine.

I really like the title and I subscribe to his videos.
Would LOVE to have one.
They’re still affordable, so go for it. Roy
Damn fine shooting.
Thanks Ryan, but it’s a damn fine gun too! Roy
Awesome gun
Agreed, Meraj! Roy

I use a high grip too and still have a faint scar on the web of my hand from hammer bite from shooting around '73. I'll take the beavertail.....
So did u actually use it in combat?
It helps a lot to paint the front stubby sight with a bright glow in the dark paint. Go with white down first, then put the neon glow paint over the white base.
How does this compare to the new Springfield sa35 they just came out with..thanks
Really no comparison cause 1 is a 9mm and one is 45 one is double action vs single action.so two different leagues
Just traded a used Gen 3 Glock model 22 plus $50 for a brand new Springfield Mil-Spec 1911.
And I'm betting you're a happy fellow! Roy
I’d like mine a little more if I could get nights sights? At least the front….Not easy to do for staked sights.
Thanks for the Video. 👍
A gunsmith can easily cut a dovetail in that slide and install any front sight you want. Not expensive either. Roy
SA 1911 would look so much better if the slide seriation is at a 90° angle and not slanted.
Old school 1911 doesn't have the slide serrations angled. That is the most obvious difference. Many year ago Springfield Armory had a model called G.I. that was a 100% copy even with small sights and straight serrations.

Is auto ordinance 1911 good in comparison? They’re within the same price range.
Between us, I’d get the Springfield. Roy

Thanks Seamus! Now I need to try to live up to that! Ha! Roy H.
I've never seen one at 640 price point. 799 to 850 is as low as I saw.
Same price range here in Florida, it's fairly expensive
I just got one a couple weeks ago, found ONE in San Antonio...paid $649...lucky to get it!

I think they make it in 38 Super too, which is what i need. Too bad there is no ambi safety, but that is easy to remedy.
I would love to have one in .38 super. I have been looking for 10 years now, and i have not yet found one.
@@blueduck9409 A Gi style one? I think Armscor and Springfield make them. Kimber and SF make modern ones, and Taurus may have brought theirs back out

Me too its my CCW
This is my primary EDC. .45 ACP is God's caliber!
Any hammer bite?
Not for me Lyle, but it does depend on the shooter and how much “meat” they have on the web of their shooting hand. Roy
