I played him a Red Vox song a year or so ago on a road trip, just to see if he’d give it a pass, and we ended up listening to the entirety of two albums together (Realign and Visions.) He was impressed by the sound, he was rocking his head in time while tapping a beat out on the steering wheel, and he was praising the breadth of influences that can be felt from you guys. All that to say, you got the gold seal of approval from a real Rock Oldie ❤ I’ll be sending this one his way

I like to interpret this song as being about wanting to go back to a better time in your life, but knowing that no matter what, you’re always gonna be stuck in the “now.” The chorus “Even if if you try - I’ll know the reason why” is like your own mind telling you that no matter how much you want and try to “go back,” you’ll still know it’s because you’re not happy now, and that you’re still not happy. Despite all this, however, the narrator still wants it to work out. They says that “The future’s up for grabs” and ask us to remember “all the other times you took back control of your life”, they know it will get better, but they also know that there’s no going back to the past.
