Watch Judy Davis in the movie Me and My Shadows sometime. She was brilliant portraying Judy Garland. The movie shows young Judy and then older Judy, played by Australian actress Judy Davis!
One of the strongest Best Actress wins of the Century- her performance can stand alongside Charlize Theron (Monster) and Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose)
I hope she gets an Oscar. Judy gave several worthy performances in her life....maybe there will be a bit of justice. Bless both these wonderful talents.
Renee is not only a stunning artist, but her humanitarian and humble nature is magnificent. She never does an interview twice ~ she always gives very real, personal and interesting responses peppered with graciousness and her warm sense of humor. I just love her.

I haven’t seen this yet, I’ve had some trepidation because I’m a massive Judy fan, I can tell when things are off. But this... works for me, I think. I’ll have to see it.
The depth of analysis in describing the physical details is wonderful. Movies are highly dependent on cinematography to communicate a particular mood or time or place. As important as these things are I have to think that few people pay much attention to them. That is until someone like Emmanuel Lubezki wins three consecutive Academy Awards for Best Cinematography for Gravity (2013), Birdman (2014), and The Revenant (2015).
Only thing I'd change would be Judy's recordings instead of Renee singing (even though Renee is a good singer)...For me, as a lifelong Judy admirer, would appreciate hearing Judy's voice to bring the affect full circle.
I have heard this complaint, but the movie is representative of Judy in the last year of her life, she was ill - she had abused her body for years with drugs ( sadly) so by this point the iconic Judy voice was shot
finally somebody taking a stand on this subject because I am so tired of being the only one commenting on it! yes, you are right! Renee admitted she is not a vocalist! Judy Garland NEVER had a soft voice not even when she was a child!
I can not wait to see this.....I've loved Judy since I was a small child.....even now I tears up when I watch old performances.....she was a treasure....
I enjoyed Renee s interepretation of Judy very much, her nuances were so fine, Judy is not an easy character to emulate, but Renne did a fine job of capturing her very well
I'm really excited about this and think Renee will be great but I really wished they had used Judy's voice. Renee can sing but no one can sing like Judy.
@@JordanjamesX Maybe so but that rawness in her voice at that stage of her life would fit the story better, imho, instead we just have Renee trying to recreate something that can't be recreated.
Marisa Sullivan But it wouldn’t have seemed right at all to me. I wasn’t really a fan of how they did it in Bohemian Rhapsody as it even looked fake. Whereas Rocketman, where Taron Egerton actually sang, was a lot better even though he didn’t actually sound 100% like Elton. Judy is a great film and it wouldn’t be the same film if they had Renee lip sync. That’s just my opinion on the matter.
