    My friends Mother bought a brand new 67 GTO with an Automatic trans. Grey metallic with black vinyl top. I remember riding in it a few times. I remember her oldest son driving it past us kids as we played in the ally and I took notice of that beautiful factory exhaust. Pontiac exhaust at that time were well known for a loud throaty sound off the showroom floor, even the big Bonnevilles and Catalinas.

    My Quadriplegic Brother in law (Paul) Who’s passed on. purchased a piece of crap 1967 Blue GTO and he himself fully restored engine and body, interior to show room new over 6 years other then the paint which my other brother in law owns a body shop painted. Paul did all the work himself throwing his body in different positions so he could reach certain areas. Needless to say it had handicap controls and he we all were in Awe at the work he had done. He had a very nice heated garage and heated radiant floor to work on it in. With TV Fridge, Enough room for 3 cars but this was the only one in the garage during the process here in New England. Love this model year.

      @@loucostabile Lou, I honestly don't remember. He sold it around 1970 or so. I do recall him saying that my mom had a hard time holding in the clutch, with both feet, at stop lights (LoL, my mom was about 5' 95 lbs) and I had a little sister on the way. So I guess it wasn't a very practical family car. He bought a Volvo and never looked back. But don't think for a minute he didn't put an exhaust and a few other tweaks on that car 😉. Boys will be boys, rest his soul.💙

      @@milfordcivic6755You are wrong. If there is no God then who saved my life miraculously in Afghanistan? When I died in Mexico who did I meet and who sent me back? What was the powerful force that convinced me not to pull the trigger on my 357 when it was pointed at my head? Who saved my life in Panama when I should have died? How is it possible for a man who was beat, molested, and told I was hated as a child to grow up and have a successful marriage (25 years), successful military career (retired honorably), and raised 3 healthy and successful children? Here is how, once I received Jesus he healed me over time. I used to be just like you. Now I know the truth.

    Lou Este auto es una belleza ,hace unos 40 años , se uso en Uruguay debido a la carestia de la gasolina una moda perversa ... Adaptar motres diesel a todo los autos grandes Y un amigo tenia Un GTO y le hizo adaptar un Perkins 4 203. conla misma trasmison Naturalmente la trasmision Hydramatic 300 no aguanto la vibracion del diesel Y se rompio Ahi entro Yo ... Se reparo pero como el diesel no genera vacio, la moduladora de la caja no funcionaba ,produciendo cambios erraticos ,y roturas Termine adaptando una trasmision Hydrmatic de un Cadillac de 1951 ,sin moduladora de vacio Y FUNCIONO ! maravillosamente bien Tal que perdi el rastro del GTO.Esta es UNA historia de un GTO Saluda al dueño de mi parte y lo felicito y te agradezco a ti este regalo

    When I was a senior in hs, a guy at my school had a '63 Falcon Sprint w/ 260 v8, 3-speed. A 'quick' car; I envied it! But after he graduated, he got his real 'dream car': A burgundy '66 GTO w/ 389, 4-speed, white vinyl roof. When its first 'service' came due, he took it to the dealer, left it overnight. That night, when thieves broke in, his was the only car with full tank of gas, so it was the one stolen and subsequently crashed. The dealership's insurance replaced the '66 with a '67 like the one shown here, except w/ 4-speed. (The '67 was nice, but to me, that '66 was the real beauty!)😢

    Lou as best as you know did he re-plate those chrome bumpers ? Im curious how much that cost nowadays, alone trying to find a place to do it.

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  Год назад +1

      David, I'm not sure if Terry re-plated them, but seeing this car is "over the top" I'm guessing they are re-chromed. Not sure how much it costs, and hoping a Viewer can share knowledge, Lou

      @@loucostabile Hi Lou, great video! In my town of Fresno, CA, I think that we have more Vipers than an area our size should have. About 6 or 8 of them would show up at local car shows, just to show off. They would all be parked in a line right in the middle of things.
      A local guy was the first one on the block to get a Viper roadster when they came out. A bunch of people were at an area race track showing off their cars. People were needling him to step on it, and with a few too many drinks, he took them up on it. Well, he ended up loosing control and slid into a wall. The car was a pile of rubble, but it went to a local body shop where a friend of mine worked.
      The estimated, and I remind you, estimated, was $30K. The insurance said OK. Well, it ended up taking more than double that amount and the car could have been replaced for about the repair cost. Nobody was happy. Everybody got paid.
      He ended up selling the car to a guy in Texas, who drove it all the way back there.
      He took his money and put it into a new Viper coupe, which had just come out. He had an in with the Dodge boys so he was able to jump the line.
      Oh! Tell your wife that the reason there is no mirror on the passenger sunvisor is because if she was using one to put make-up on, if you floored it, like make-up might get on her face alright, but probably where she intended to put it!

    I was 17 when I bought mine in 74 with 59,000 on the clock. I paid 800.00 bucks for it. By the time the car had 76,000 it was done. I raced it to death. I destroyed the front end bushings by rocking it to pull wheelies in the Los Alamitos mall parking lot (Orange County, CA). One of my favorite all-time cars. I was just a young, dumb, stupid kid. So surprised I did not kill myself in it.
