Those are the most beautiful car seats I have ever seen. I owned a 1976 Olds 98 that had velour puffy pillow seats. They should put seats like those in todays luxury cars instead of the hard flat ones they have now.
Hi, Lou! Man, this ain't no ordinary Fleetwood, this is a Fleetwood MAC!!! LOL!!! If my mom had seen this car when it was new, she would probably would have said it's a sin to spend such an extravagant sum on a 19 1/2-foot-long land yacht with a 133-inch wheelbase that can only take four passengers in the year of the OPEC oil embargo! Still, as I was watching I recalled the words of a hit song that came out in 1974: Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac Gangsta whitewalls, TV antennas in the back You may not have a car at all, But remember, brothers and sisters, you can still stand tall! Just be thankful for what you got, though you may not drive a great big Cadillac. Many thanks to you and Steve for showing off this bruised banana and letting us sink deep in the seats as we're diggin' the scene with the Gangsta Lean!
Hi, iswc27! Happy to share this "Fleetwood MAC!!!" (Well said) with you :-) Clearly Steve likes to ride and share his "great big Cadillac". You're welcome, Lou
And there it is: My all time favorite Cadillac interior. Leave it to Lou and Mr. Plunkett to make Christmas come a little early this year for me! It's always a rare treat to see one of these. It's the ultimate in '70s opulence and decadence. Thanks, Lou!
This was a one year only car. Even for the seventies the idea of a boat like this that only seated four was too much. The next year, the back seats were replaced by a velour bench that could seat three. This car will remain iconic for its sheer excess. Your friend is a great collector!
Indeed, a Top Banana of Fleetwoods. A very rare Caddy which ooozes ‘70’s decor. One could hang a disco ball in there and boogey all night down the road!
My father had a 74 Coupe de Ville. White with red leather. It was always on his bucket list to purchase a brand new Caddy. We took many road trips with it. What a highway cruiser. I am pretty sure it had the 505 engine in it. You could watch the gas gauge go down when you drove it around town. It was bullet proof. That was right around an oil embargo. My father didn’t care. I used to wash and wax the car for him. I wish they would paint cars nowadays like they did back then. This video brings back a lot of great memories. Thanks for posting it!

Lou - You do you and nobody does it like you. AMAZING!!! I was 14 years old when this car came out and I loved drawing and I would draw the front ent which was mostly square and rectangular except for the last year round headlights. This is what America/Canada did best and nobody did it like GM. I remember when the Cimmaron came out and nobody bought it because it was too small for a Cadillac and now modern Cadillacs are that size with all black interiors. So sad that we’ll NEVER see cars like these again. Makes you wonder if we never had 73 oil embargo, what would American cars look like today? Oh and they should have named this car the Cadillac Isolation Chamber. Keep up the good work Lou.$❤$

The Cadillac dealer in my grandmother's small city had a Talisman in their showroom, which seems odd now, but it made a huge impression on me at 13. I looked at one for sale in '81, but the black back seat had faded in the sun. Ended up buying a well-used regular '74 Fleetwood. Warmed up, I sometimes thought the engine had died at a stoplight it was so smooth and quiet, but a cold start shook the engine so hard it broke two exhaust manifold bolts. Merging into traffic was easy--people got out of the way. After several failures in a month, I gave it to the Salvation Army. Wish someone made a car that drove like it now.

Another fantastic video! He didn't much care for the yellow. Now I'll tell you a little story, my parents bought a 75 Plymouth Valiant, much brighter yellow than that with a black top. I hated That color combination. thinking back, it was a great car. It ran fine all the time. Then. my dad bought us a 1979 Buick Lesabre. It was kind of a copper/ copper metallic, if you will, with a black vinyl top. and it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen. I loved it. I thank you for this wonderful video. Those cars are immense, and I love the size and all the luxury and posh comfort that goes into them. What a beautiful Cadillac!
Hi from Sydney, Australia. When I was 26years old 42 years ago I bought a Black 74 Fleetwood Brougham Talisman with "gold" (mustard color) interior, I'm now 68 years old and am still driving it. When I'd owned it 10 years I thought what if something happened to it what would make me happy, answer another Fleetwood, so I also own a white '72 Fleetwood Brougham with what was called "ice green" interior (very pale green). These two started me collecting some other US cars, however they are all Aussie built CKD Kit cars as they were sent as parts and panels as to be registered for road use they needed to be right hand drive, additionally our engines are the export versions with ZERO anti pollution gear, so no lost power. and let me tell you a 472 with no pollution equipment is a 400+ hp car, serious get up and go. In 42 years I have added 608,000 kilometres to it, so it now has 710,000 k's in total, it still looks and drives like new, I'm a doctor and I knew I'd never see another RHD '74 Talisman in decent color, as GM Holden's Australia, ordered in just 3 Talisman kits amongst the Fleetwood kits. In the early'70's the ONLY other US GM car kit that could be ordered was the Buick Riviera, and only to 1973, then mid year 1974 no more Cadillacs.

Lou love that car .that's the cleanest caddy I've seen thank u so much for sharing❤❤ Lou when you open the hood it said GM 501 CID LOOK . The next option was 472 . Meaning the family cub sizes it's a 501. If it was a 472 it's at the top and 501 at the bottom. My dad had a 73 it was 472 top and 501 bottom. 74 last year for 501 Fleetwood and eldorado option for 501. IAM the caddy man
Those were tough days for Cadillac. Their traditional customers demanded luxury and comfort. These were the darkest of the “smog days” and those huge engines were choked to death and performance really suffered. Still even darker days were yet to come as Cadillac built engines that cost them their reputation! This one is a VERY prime example of when a Cadillac was a Cadillac. I love it and would be willing to put up with the lack of power and 7 MPH!

I agree with Steve, it looks like a big banana. Not a color I would choose, especially for a Cadillac, but a typical 70s color. Beautiful car! Thanks for sharing, Lou!
Nice Caddy! I used to be a GM only guy (I'm in my 60s) but no longer solid GM guy. These cars were GREAT. Only external problems with these (and other brands) was the plastics rotted prematurely ; especially the bumpers...even in the south (no salt) they did this and there are many articles on the net about deliberate (from the manufacturers) for this to sell aftermarket stuff. After decades of GM loyalty I've left that mentality. I do remember the yesteryears of all these cars.

Only the USA knows how to merge plushness with luxury. What a beautiful Caddy! I agree with a better color. Even though they were pricey, one did/does not need to pay the excessively inflated prices of the foreign models. Thank you Lou!
Also had a 1974 in the dark metallic blue color, with the super thick, Talisman velour upholstery, a previously one-owner car that I purchased in 1980 in Naples, FL. I believe they discontinued the writing desk in the front after the first year, and they were not offered on the ‘75 or ‘76 models. Beautiful running, riding car, and a HUGE vehicle!

My Father had an 83' Coupe de Ville. It was white with black interior and outside rear roof landow.. it had a 4.3 V8 and it would get 20 miles to the gallon on the highway! Sometimes more.. It was a big BOAT. Body by Fisher and the comfort was second to none..
Jay Leno had a great line about Chicagoland Cadillac dealers selling these cars, saying "Ya got ya regular Fleetwood Brougham and ya got ya Fleetwood Brougham de Ele-GEEEANNNNNCE." This one is even a step above that. That Apollo Yellow color was definitely an artifact of the 1970s. I had a friend with a Chevelle Malibu Classic painted yellow with a white vinyl top. Slightly better than the bruised banana.

Hi Lou! These interiors while appearing plush-a-plenty try getting in and out of the car if you have a raincoat on or women wearing skirts/dresses (or men wearing kilts). The clothing would stick to the upholstery. And the carpeting you called shag, is not shag: it is DEEP PILE--there is a difference. One thing that you missed which is so cool about some GM models during this time period: the LED fiber-optic monitoring lights whereby tbe driver could see if headlights/rearlights were out. The two small "objects" on each front fender was for the headlights/turn signals, but the rear light fiberoptic connection could only be seen by the driver while looking in the rear view mirror. The lights themselves were centered above the rear window almost in the headliner. The front monitors also served as a reminder if one of the turn signals was still going (just in case it wasn't seen/heard clicking from under the dashboard.)
LOU, get the vernacular correct. Handle bars are for bikes & cucles, cars have door pull straps. Map pockets, not receivers. Seats, not chairs, chairs are movable. You closed a door, not a trunk. Plush or cut pile carpeting, not shag carpeting, that is for the home. The Cadillac horn is called a Trumpet Horn.
@loucostabile THANK . Yes I have had some great cars and some great ones thatwerekind of rare. There are a lot of people who have had more great cars than I have had but I have had over 100 cars.
I had an immaculate 76. Know them well. 74 was the only year the console was in the rear seat making it most valuable of the 4 years of production. Tough color though. Produced about 1000 per year. No denoting the option on the vin either. The horn was a option. Called a trumpet horn.

The 74 Fleetwoon is the most beautiful Caddie ever made, Th color and top color are both odd but probably rare as most would have matching color vinyl top. I prefer my caddies triple black or at least black on black with a darker interior but in any color the 74 Caddies (Fleetwood, SDV and CDV) still look beautiful. To me the 59 has nothing on this car. Thank you for posting
Nice big bruised banana, Lou. Talisman? Wow. Looks like it would be the limousine for a top tier executive. With a 472 engine. Wonder what the hp and tx ratings for that is.

My grandfather's friend would get a new Fleetwood Brougham every other year. He had a beautiful 1972 in gold with either a brown or darker gold top that, to me, was beautiful. In 1974 he brought one home in this color combo and I was shocked. Ugliest car I'd seen recently. His wasn't the Talisman. I agree with the owner, too bad it isn't in a classier color.

This was an offering by Cadillac where they attempted to recreate the luxury aspects reflected in some of the great Cadillac interior features of the 1930's. Regrettably in their selection of appointments they confused gaudy for tasteful quality.
@@loucostabile Actually this is a marvelously maintained and a very impressive appearing automobile, Among the last of the truly full sized Fleetwood Cadillac's. Regrettably the design of the interior apparently was turned over to a group of former Bordello designers. This same group evidently later found employment at Ford to work on the Mark III interiors.

Why does it say 501 GM and also 472? I know at one point Cadillac started putting the 500 cu in Eldorado engine in the rest of the Cadillac line somewhere in the mid 1970’s.

“Come Mr. Talisman, tally me, banana” 😊thanks for sharing Mr. Plunkett’s eclectic caddy collection. I think thats the last 472 powered Caddy.

I was 14 years old in 1974. This is a nice 74 Caddillac; it looks like a cream color.

Amazing Cadillac opulence! I’ve seen a lot of Cadillacs, but never a Talisman! Great review!
Hi Cmdr Darwin, I don't recall seeing a "Talisman" either, so happy to share this one with you. Lou
IAM the caddy man
Elliott happy to read "love that car" :-) My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome.

@ Lou, for the one hundredth time, I became a subscriber YEARS ago! Why you think I’m a non subscriber is beyond me!
The 75-76 Buick Electra had the Park Avenue package that also had big pillow seats & console. (in 75 only)
Thank you for sharing.

I agree with Steve, it looks like a big banana. Not a color I would choose, especially for a Cadillac, but a typical 70s color. Beautiful car! Thanks for sharing, Lou!
Hi Brian, Happy to share the "Big Banana" with you :-) You're welcome, Lou

Hi Steven, Happy to read "What a beautiful Caddy!" :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
Якщо машини із колекції Стіва, то вони не можуть бути не цікавими! Дуже класне і рідкісне авто! Дякую Луї !
Hi Сергій, Happy to share this "Very cool and rare car!" with you :-) You're welcome, Lou

Hi John, Happy to read "Love your channel and what a great car." :-) My pleasure sharing with you. Stay tuned, Steve has more cars and looking forward to sharing them with you, Lou
My Father had an 83' Coupe de Ville. It was white with black interior and outside rear roof landow.. it had a 4.3 V8 and it would get 20 miles to the gallon on the highway! Sometimes more.. It was a big BOAT. Body by Fisher and the comfort was second to none..
Hi John, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Fathers car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hi Jonathan NC, Thanks for viewing and sharing. Lou

Always liked round headlights look over square ones
Thank you for sharing what you prefer.
Hi Keith, Thank you for viewing and adding your knowledge to the story. Lou
It so BIG and HUGE than other Cadillac models of the 70s
You're right, it's a Whopper!
Modern cars will never compare to these Cadillacs !
....and the modern ones can fit in the trunk of this one too :-)
@@loucostabile brilliant 😂
Talisman brings good luck they say. I say with good luck you get to own a Talisman.
Thank you for sharing.
Engine bay is rough. South or West side of Chicago would die for this gem.
Thank you for viewing and sharing.
"That's no moon...it's a space station."
"It's too big to be a space station!"
NICE!
I know what the Talisman is!!! Very limited edition of Fleetwood the interior is really amazing
"I know what the Talisman is!!!" NICE!
133" Wheel base; over 5' tread! I was just looking up definition of "land yacht". 😂
...ALL ABOARD!
Gery nice caddy love thee color interior looks comfortable
Happy to read you enjoy the comfy interior of this car :-) Me too.
MELLIEbevhills, Is this that whole Potato Patato thing? :-) Stay well, stay tuned, have fun, Lou
I remember working on those the fan shroud is all metal and heavy, just like the rest of the car
Hi Michael, Happy to read this car brings back memories of you working on cars like this :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I have had 3 Cadillacs and wish I had kept 2 of them, especially my 57 series 62 4 door hardtop 45k mile survivor.
Hi Todd, Sounds like you had some great cars :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou

Beautiful American land yatch ❤
ALL ABOARD!
I like the yellow with brown top. The round headlights too. I think I prefer them to the square, rectangular ones
Happy to read the details you appreciate on this car :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing.
3 tons of American iron. Thanks Lou.
"3 tons of American iron." ...just the way we like it :-) You're welcome Larry.
Rare Caddie for sure....Nice survivor.
Happy to share this rare Caddie with you :-)
I think they used exactly the same exterior color for the Cadillac Sollei Concept. It's really nice.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Back in the day when Cadillacs WERE Cadillacs
You're right :-)
Never knew about this model of Cadillac, seen many Fleetwoods and l owned a 95 Fleetwood but l never seen a Talisman trim package.
Hi Gary, I did not know about the "Talisman" option either. Happy to be able to share this one with you, Lou
Hi rscamarolover, High praise for this Caddie! My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome, Lou
Another rare one
...with quite the interior too.
Nice 😊
Hi Michael, Happy to read you enjoy this "Nice" car :-) Lou
I really wanted to hear the four note horn!📯📯📯📯
That would have sounded good :-)
These engines last. My 74 had over 300,000 miles and ran strong and no smoke
Thank you for sharing. NICE!
Next door neighbor had a brand new 73' or 74' Coupe DeVille back then.
Hi Nicky, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your next door neighbors car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Nice big bruised banana, Lou. Talisman? Wow. Looks like it would be the limousine for a top tier executive. With a 472 engine. Wonder what the hp and tx ratings for that is.
HP 220
@loucostabile , seriously detuned because of emission standards, no doubt.
Interior color is Terra Cotta.

:-)
74 was also the only year that was a four seater
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Needs a bumper stick that says "Mafia Staff Car"
....not sure this color would go with that sticker?
You have to be careful not to fall asleep in these seats…;-)
You're right, they are comfy.

The Tailisman make all the other '74 Cadillac models smaller
I can see why you'd say that.
back then Cadillac offered a limousine made in house based on the Fleetwood, but today limos are made by coach company;s
Hi Peter, Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Lou
This was an offering by Cadillac where they attempted to recreate the luxury aspects reflected in some of the great Cadillac interior features of the 1930's. Regrettably in their selection of appointments they confused gaudy for tasteful quality.
Hi Stude289, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
@@loucostabile Actually this is a marvelously maintained and a very impressive appearing automobile, Among the last of the truly full sized Fleetwood Cadillac's. Regrettably the design of the interior apparently was turned over to a group of former Bordello designers. This same group evidently later found employment at Ford to work on the Mark III interiors.
Wretched excess, but tastefully done if that contradiction makes any sense.

Why does it say 501 GM and also 472?
I know at one point Cadillac started putting the 500 cu in Eldorado engine in the rest of the Cadillac line somewhere in the mid 1970’s.
Hmmm, not sure. Maybe a Viewer with knowledge can share.
The same length as Chevy Suburban but bigger is just so ridiculous utterly ridiculous even the interior is bloody massive
Lots of room to get comfy inside.
Car had about a $11,000 plus price tag back then
Thank you for sharing.
I would have thought that the body would be by FLEETWOOD rather than Fisher.

NICE!
About 20 years ago, these were big favorites of poor old blacks.

Bluesmobile🙂
:-)
back when they really cared what they sold us
Agreed.
That isnt a 472 CI, but is a 500 CI engine. The last year the 472 was used is 1973. All if the full size cadillacs from 74-76 are 500 CI.
