@@Rise_babyXD in the end of book 10 it shows that he doesnt know and winter got zapped to the ice kingdom with all the other icewings so thats why he wasnt there
My theory is that the deadline Scholastic had set was creeping up on Tui and she couldn't figure out how to have Winter there without him frostbreathing Peacemaker immediately, and she was also having trouble trying to resolve the love triangle, and that's why his decision to join the Icewings and subsequent zapping off to the Ice Kingdom feels so out of nowhere.
The reason Turtle and Anemone weren’t in the showdown is because Qibli just had them in his party during the *“Stop The War Over Jade Mountain”* quest objective and he needed to switch them out before the *”Defeat Darkstalker Once And For All”* quest objective so they could recover from low health because Darkstalker hurled a giant boulder at them in that quest. Luckily they survive because Turtle’s scales were buffed with magic. Oh yeah also THIS IS SPECTACULAR OH MY GOOOOOSH!!! The art quality skyrocketed astonishingly it’s beautiful!
It’s a shame that Qibli didn’t have Winter in his party during the Darkstalker encounter as it is needed for the quest “The Loyal Prince” to permanently unlock Winter as a party member for the Plantala DLC. While Lynx is a strong pick as a support against the controlled hive, able to negate spore confusion, Winter is preferred for at least the early DLC as his ranged ice elemental attacks allow the party to deal effective damage out of spore AOE range.
Winter was really on the other side of the continent during the final showdown with Darkstalker. He probably would’ve had a lot of things to say to him.
Yeah. Winter's character was one of many victims of poor planning on Tui's part. When she decided to transform Darkstalker into Peacemaker as the method of how he's defeated, she had no choice but to contrive a way to get Winter out of the story so he wouldn't immediately frostbreath Peacemaker and ruin his friendship with the rest of the Jade Winglet. So we get artificial interpersonal drama stemming from *no one talking to each other,* culminating in a fight and Icewing reunion tailor made to coax Winter into fighting with his tribe instead of his Winglet. But I could think of a few ways to go about it without butchering his arc and shoving the rest of his development off-screen. Such a shame Tui couldn't have worked something else out (probably because of contractual due dates). Sorry, I don't mean to rant, I just find Winter a very interesting character and a tragedy how badly his potential was wasted in arc 2. Anyways, Hi Talon!👋 I'm a big admirer of your WoF analyses, and even if I don't completely agree with all of them I still think they're very well done. How's your day been going? Hopefully better than mine has.
@@wolfrosefrost5475yeah I think the Peacemaker idea was a bad way to end it all around, being so anti-climatic to the story’s lesson. Although I don’t know if Winter would’ve had much sympathy for that happening to Darkstalker of all dragons. I think he would’ve disapproved it because it didn’t mean killing Darkstalker.
@@reptile1687 he was supposed to have more development like being able to tolerate nightwings and deal with his own insecurities regarding his family. But I guess that got swept under the rug.
@@reptile1687that was the main plot of his book, but his arc was more about realizing that it's ok to put your faith in others, even if they're part of a different tribe, as well as themes of found family vs blood relatives and how you should be with the ones who actually show that they care for you. So when put in that context, yeah book 10 really shortchanged his arc.
idk why Tui thought having only two of the POV characters there for the main villain’s defeat was a good idea tbh 😭
Fr, Like all of them should have been there. The character reactions, the potential conversations and drama, like wtf Tui? You missed out 😭
We don't even get confirmation whether or not Winter knows about Peacemaker being Darkstalker! Why couldn't he have been there?! WTH!

@@Rise_babyXD Fr, he deserved to be there after finding out his whole tribe and family could have been killed.

This is hilarious, I say this with those two seawings being some of my favourite character. Wish turtle was in this video

There’s also the fact that after what happened with Hailstorm and Pyrite. Winter would very much be against Darkstalker being turned into Peacemaker.
@@wolfrosefrost5475yeahh... Especially considering Winter turned into Pyrite himself at one point.

Oh geez, I hadn’t even thought about the Pyrite thing. You’re so right. He’d hate the Peacemaker idea. Poor guy.

Absolutely iconic animation :D
Took the words out of my mouth
So will this go for meme
When Winter was saying “his brother killed everyone in the village” I was thinking of Sasuke Uchiha’s backstory from Naruto
WAIT HOLD UP
I JUST REALISED ITACHI( sasuke’s brother who killed their entire clan) SAID THE SAME THING AS DARKSTALKER
RIP Winter's Character Arcs
wasnt his character arc finding his brother?

If you ask me, Talons of Power should have been the last book.
