Just before the chorus hits, the lyrics to the song is literally "If I could have my wish, I want to go home
Let's go back home, where we lived together". Made me cry listening to the lyrics

I understand it, the feels are very strong with this ED. It almost feels like this is after Mikasa dies and Eren was waiting in the next life.

In my opinion it is, and it shows them while they were kids because it shows that they were pure and innocent and not like their older selves

@@K1nr0when mikasa wakes up and finds eren's hand, it's definitely in the afterlife. It's the contiunation of the last ep where mikasa is dying lied on the grass. She finally finds eren again, being home, but in the afterlife. You will understand more after knowing the sub. Mikasa wants home and it's eren. The see each other again.
I'm pretty sure the ending is showing us Mikasa passing on to the afterlife right after she died from the old age. In the beginning we saw her jump into the water and then floating in it surrounded by white cherry blossoms which are often used in funerals in Japan and represent the transience of life, rebirth and a new beginning. We see her floating in the water surrounded by them in the exact same position she was buried in, which signals her passing away and her journey into the afterlife.
We then see Mikasa experience a dream state where she sees birds on a fence and right under it we are shown 4 red roses which symbolize "Nothing Will Come Between Us", one of the birds is holding 1 red rose signifying "you're the one and only love". Then we see her and Eren running around being happy and at peace together, leaning into each other and being there for each other. She then holds 2 yellow chrysanthemums shining bright which symbolizes the long life she lived with both sorrow and neglected love in her heart and her closing her hands putting out its light showing that its the moment of her death.
The final lyric of the song is "I know I'll see you again, lets say goodnight" as Mikasa opens her eyes in the exact same position as she was buried. Her eyes full of tears thinking its just another dream again but no, she has a surprised expression because she sees Eren is right there with her, holding her hand with a yellow butterfly on his hand which represents rebirth, they're finally reunited in the afterlife free from war and cruelty of this world, together for eternity 😭

i didn't cry during the show, but this ending.. hits hard. Especially the lyrics
This song is when it finally hit me that AoT was over. It's just so peaceful and innocent. Apart from all the violence, cruely, and suffering in this series lies the feelings of a girl whose only wish was to be with the person she loves but who was denied that over and over until the very end T_T
At least we know that they're finally together in the afterlife, forever free from war and cruelty of the world 😭😭😭

If I'm not mistaken, this for the tv version ending theme, which divide the last part into 3 episodes. If you watch from streaming service, the 1,5 hours version, the ending theme is [To You 2,000 or 20,000 Years From Now].
It's actually for the last 5 episodes, 2 from final season special 1 and 3 from final season special 2. The opening for these 5 episodes is Saigo No Kyojin.
I think "I know I will see you again" is after Mikasa die, she will "meet" Eren on the heaven

Somehow this ending song hit harder than the actual ending of aot .
I've been following SnK manga since I was 14 years old, and I really didn't want to watch it again because of its ending, but then the last season of the anime came out, I watched it and listened to this ending theme, man, i am a grown ass adult 27 years old but I crying like I just lost a loved one, that's why I gave up selfishness about EreMika couple, I want Mikasa to have a happy family because her life is still very long ahead, just like Eren's wish for her
Don't worry they remeet afterlife. And actually she never married as lily signifies purity and Virginity. She was dedicated to him for her whole life.
It was fucking SAD, Mikasa and Eren even though they love each other, but they could not share time together like that, walking along the field, enjoy the life, and live side by side together like in the ending, they could not do that, end when Eren died, Mikasa would never do those things with him anymore. REALLY REALLY TRAGIC LOVE.

If only Mikasa didn’t tell Eren thinks of him only as family would it had made a difference in the outcome

He already knew the one where she did but it still ended up the same.
That outcome would've been happy for them but just trash overall, they abandon everyone else including armin who either dies or becomes a mass murderer just for Eren to die 4 years later and Mikasa is alone again
you also don't even get it, mikasa wanted to be with eren so if they did run off and spend the last 4 years of eren life together she would of taken it, cause she only wanted to be with eren, and the ending which shows mikasa a kid and some guy is nothing cause it was never confirmed that she married and moved on, plus mikasa only loves eren, so i would find it kind of stupid ending, and it is heavily implied about adoption (which makes more sense for the ending) you don't need to be married and have a biological child to have a happy life @@mruptownK

This is my usual typical response when ppl try to argue the "putting on an act is bad writing", "Character assassination" and Eren crying scene.
---He did all for the sake of his own selfish desires in the pursuit of his version of "Freedom"; It all started when Armin showed him that book of the outside world as a child.
He was so "drunk" (refer to Kenny's quote) on this ideal tht he wuld kill the world and push everyone close to him away.
He refused to give up the thing he was "drunk" on bc it was the only thing he lived for anymore.
So yes it was an "act" tht he put up FOR HIMSELF.
Even stated tht he thought he was doing it for his friends, but he was actually doing it all for himself.
He was always a selfish and impulsive child who refused to accept reality.
He wuld rather lose everything than give up "Freedom".
He was always a slave to his own ideals.
Eren has been like this the entire series.
So when death finally came knocking; It all fell away.
"Freedom" tht he strived for was gone and all we had left was a broken man full of regrets and fear.
The REAL Eren.
So I heavily disagree tht it was a "character assassination".
The Eren being an incel or whatever stuff is ludicrous, they loved each other but, had a hard time expressing themselves directly and Eren had goals he put ahead of everything including love to protect Paradis.

It instead says:
