  • Ok fellas in this upload we are going to be looking at
    How To Use A Uni-Vibe ~ PROPERLY !
This topic is pretty close to my heart, being a huge lover of the vibe and all the depth and character this pedal has to offer i feel like i can shed some light on how to SQUEEZE the most out of your current vibe before you bin it and move onto the next !
In the pursuit of " THAT " vibe tone i've tried a few , i'm currently using the
R Weaver Fx Midnight vibe but other favourites have been :-
The Sir Henry - Whats not to love about this, SUPER AUTHENTIC.
The God Vibe - God knows how he fits it in there - Pun intended.
The Delta Vibe - Amazing Pedal board friendly and again VERY Authentic.
Im sure there are others but these are the ones that really stick out for me, these units seem to capture the essence of the Swirl Perfectly and pair up with other pedals in the chain with no hassle.
** This Video is Pretty Long and almost more of an instructional but if you are looking just for tones skip through to 8:20 **
Vibe on board and ready to juice things up , i run through my personal finds over the years to REALLY get the most out of your current pedal and help transform you into a HUMAN LAVA LAMP.
Make sure to let me know if this video has helped and more importantly if YOU have any other tips you have found help juice things up , these instructional's in tone are nice to do but again it is only MY OPINION.
WE ALL HEAR THINGS DIFFERENTLY :]
Thanks for stopping by, i appreciate your time.

Hey Richie, don‘t know if you‘re into that kind of thing, but if you‘re handy with a soldering iron, get a Forum-Vibe kit and build it yourself. The build process is a ton of fun, you‘ll learn a lot about the way the effect actually works and get a 100% authentic circuit to the original Univibe minus the vintage „inconveniences“ (and the board even accommodates for some optional mods!)

  • @dadawes

Exactly. Proper tool for a proper job. Univibe sounds to me like blending vibrato with a phaser. Chorus sounds aren’t absent but the other effects are more obvious. I don’t own a Univibe pedal but RUclips sent me here since I was trying to learn more about what Univibe is and does. Nice explanation. Lab and lecture that’s how they do it in academia.

i'm a synth person primarily with almost no guitar skill level, but i love this advice. there's no rules and no such thing as "wrong" but modulation effects in general will usually sound better with chords to chew on, and feel wasted on completely monophonic lines. no one talks about this from what i've seen. the distinction between ideal typical chorus speeds vs ideal typical univibe speeds is even more unheard of to me, but a great observation. there will always be exceptions, but there are some 'best practices' for drawing on classic sounds.

Few things for this one :), Pre EVH leaving us, I would have agreed to not play fast over-with a vibe, however, going back to Eddie and his phaser tones lately (Like, every day!, miss you Eddie!), Made me wonder if instead of a phaser I use a slow vibe for solos (Fast and slow) and man! LOVE IT, yes you can't hear the "pulse" but there is definitely a creamy thing on the solo that I think is pretty cool.
There is almost no "wrongs" btw, almost!
2nd and last, I think is important to note the vibe before and after ODs. A FF before the vibe gives you JH Woodstock, vibe before and OD gives you a warmer Robin Trower tone, what I have on my board, best of both worlds! peace, great video!

Right/Wrong might not be the best way to describe it? Not being afraid to experiment is key. With that approach, you can find what works for you on a part. That said, there are effects that have been around and have Classic sounds. Learning how to coax those sounds out of a pedal can be tricky? Love the experience 🙏
Your tips are right on point! I agree that Univibe, and Fuzz have to breathe to come through. EQ, other effects, playing style, the guitar’s volume and tone, amount of Notes, ALWAYS: NOTE CHOICE AND PHRASING...match the playing to the effect, the effect to the playing.

Playing along to the univibe throb is boring to listen to. It just becomes a tremolo. Being out of time with the unit adds to its watery effect. Best sound of a univibe to my ears is guitar volume low into a silicon fuzz face for that added bite and bright, into vibe, into either a boost and clean amp, or just a plexi style. That’s just my vibe anyway 🙏🏻

He's actually a really down to earth dude. He also doesn't take himself seriously - he does this all purely for fun.

Nah. You're doing it all wrong. I won't even go into the list, but let's just say your choice of grille cloth is on it. And that cable is emblematic of your dogma as a modern musician/gear consumer. JK. There's no right and wrong in music. The rules are made to be broken. Someone out there mis about to fuc k up in the perfect way toasty will yield a new and exciting era in music. Unless someone who seemingly has authority, tells them they are doing it WRONG instead of PROPERLY, and shuts down their creative endeavor. How many times have entire trends in music, equal to the baroque period, been sidetracked and destroyed by musical bullying? I wonder. Probably a couple, at the very least.

You do realize Hendrix used the pedal in an unintended way, right? So, the creator of the pedal probably said Hendrix used it wrong.
