We need people like you here in New Zealand, of course some builders are great but we need support as consumers from people like you. I will be very careful with any future actions I take, I will be getting copies f of your standards too - keep up the great work
Your reporting just highlights that a serious lack of knowledgeable ,skilled workmen, supervision and inspections, probably coupled with corruption etc. I am now 80 and was in construction and maintenance all my working life in UK, when i started 5yr apprenticeships were the norm, that stopped, then training colleges with certification by private means, L.A. outsourcing building regs/inspections were the worst, that opened the door to corruption instantly, then with car plants employing huge labour force at big wages the mass exodus of construction workers began. Very few workmen have PRIDE in their work, just interested in the money, im not surprised you find these faults, these properties will deteriate faster, then the sequence starts again.
Well done mate, you're doing good work exposing people not doing their jobs. As it is Australia has decided we'll have extensive rules, maybe too many, but we need our guys at least doing the main stuff properly
Totally understand your frustration man. Hundreds of videos and yet no action has been taken by the VBA until today. This is why there are so many shemozzles in Victoria.
The fact that you are not charging for this inspection, shows how much you care about the home owners! Thank you for sharing this and good to know that the right people are noticing! Let’s hope Victoria follows suit with NSW 👍🏼
Agencies worldwide: "We can't use cameras to keep our staff accountable, it's impossible!!!" Meanwhile, youtubers: "Hey guys, I'm gonna go ahead and record every step I take during this job and upload it to a site where it can be judged by the general public as well as by the people I'm working for"
Excellent work Sir and it's gathered the momentum needed (in NSW at least it seems) for the government bodies responsible to start getting out from the comfort of being behind emails and to actually pull their fingers out to do their bloody jobs! Ensure the standards are being applied and applied correctly, those responsible are held accountable when that doesn't happen. The VBA are absolutely derelict in their duty to the Victorian public and honestly, they all need to be sacked OR show cause why they should be maintained as an authority! Shame these lazy bureaucrats by exposing the ongoing failures in the industry they are responsible for regulating!
A handover defects inspection is something I do on a semi regular basis and we don't see the same issues in the country - from the majority of builders/trades as most - but not all are local and word spreads quickly here. I have just had a 'discussion' with a supervisor from a steel frame house builder in Vic which is about 60% as bad as that house - owner has 3 other dwellings on his 'farm' and was building his 'retirement' house, spent close to $900k on the build only, no paths land etc....wanted a handover final done, I guestimated about $130k in repairs needed to bring the house up to par but not to make it perfect, just to make it habitable...VBA needs a sorting out....
Excelent work for raising the red flags and finally getting attention from the government ,You are bringing hope back into the resident building industry ,Good on you mate for doing gr8 work ,The house must be near the beach looking at the soil i have noticed !!
cheers mate we need guys like you, helping and protecting home buyers from these absolute cowboys in the industry, no pride in their work no fks given just looking for the bag $$
While that may be true, being over run with work is no excuse for cutting corners and taking shortcuts with a "she'll be right " attitude The inspectors should be delaying inspections and forcing the government to employ more of them. Its not like work is going to drop off any time soon. Especially when the largest financial investment people will ever make is involved, we are talking close to a million if not more for most houses now days. The government also should step in and make these certifiers maintain their qualifications and have some sort of competency assurance program. I work for an agency in NSW with the government that has hundreds of thousands of people's lives in my hands every day and I have to pass competency testing every 2 years. these guys potentially ruin lives with shonky practices. That said the sh*t flows downhill to the builder who if they did their damn job properly the certifier would not have such a hard time and not try to cut corners.
Mate you are a bloody LEGEND, the amount of families getting screwed over by shonky builders, thank god theres blokes like yourself that hold these buggers to account.
Ask yourself this question, "If everyone in the world was like me, would the world be a better place"? In this case, of the King of Site Inspection, the answer is YES! :) Thanks mate, as always, your work is so valuable and appreciated to help expose these rotten people in the world!
Canadian professor Jordan Peterson was once asked what the ordinary guy should strive for in life. "Simply deliver a quality product," he said. "The positives in all directions are immense if you do just simply that."
Considering the BILLIONS of dollars received by state governments from property related taxes, why isn’t there a ACTIVE regulatory department with resources to avoid this happening to poor families 🤷♂️
You no doubt need thick skin doing what you're doing. As I expect you get some agro from these builders but what you're doing is so great. These owners are spending a fortune and will be in debt most of their life for these places and to get this terrible work is heart braking. Keep it up mate.... Please!

Good to see that the Dept of fair trading is pro active.
Mate, I don't know you but I think that you deserve a medal.
He simply shows a few examples of whats going on in home construction.
You're making such a huge difference bro!
I'll be sure to use you when i next build a propert, been following your inspections for a year now. Love them.
The fact that you are not charging for this inspection, shows how much you care about the home owners! Thank you for sharing this and good to know that the right people are noticing! Let’s hope Victoria follows suit with NSW 👍🏼
Our pleasure!
You know how terrible a lot of people, also home owners, are. A good deed is remembered for a day. A bad deed is remembered for a lifetime.
Agencies worldwide: "We can't use cameras to keep our staff accountable, it's impossible!!!"
Meanwhile, youtubers: "Hey guys, I'm gonna go ahead and record every step I take during this job and upload it to a site where it can be judged by the general public as well as by the people I'm working for"
Excellent work Sir and it's gathered the momentum needed (in NSW at least it seems) for the government bodies responsible to start getting out from the comfort of being behind emails and to actually pull their fingers out to do their bloody jobs!
All i want to say is THANK YOU for all those videos!
Thank you for cleaning up this mess
Good on you mate, your doing a wonderful job for these people. You got my thumb up for the video.
Bloody fantastic work - getting action and hopefully results for the owners. Hat's off to you. Love your work.
To be fair there are over 1000s new builds that need your inspection services
Yep wife and I went through the same thing attorney’s fees so far to date $120,000.00 and no end in site. We are in the USA.
Finally a certifier has been suspended. So many need to follow.
I hope NSW dept does an audit on both guys previous buildings ... Especially where the 2 have teamed up
Odds will be all non compliant.
Thanks mate, as always, your work is so valuable and appreciated to help expose these rotten people in the world!
Agreed.
Canadian professor Jordan Peterson was once asked what the ordinary guy should strive for in life. "Simply deliver a quality product," he said. "The positives in all directions are immense if you do just simply that."
Thanks for sharing this... seriously feel sorry for the owners...
Good man , your doing great investigating of bogus builders 😊, you are the man of the moment ,
Good work mate. Needs to be more of this type of thing to stop this type of dodgy stuff from happening. People need to be held accountable.
fantastic result, making people accountable.
Awesome guy. update inspection on this schmozzle is on the house
All kudos to NSW fair trading
Great work, one less grub working in the certification field. Let's see if NSW fair trading clamp down on all the other NSW inspections you do.
Considering the BILLIONS of dollars received by state governments from property related taxes, why isn’t there a ACTIVE regulatory department with resources to avoid this happening to poor families 🤷♂️
Good On you brother 👍 stick it to em . If they didn't under quote and done the job properly they wouldn't have a problem 😢
glad your helping the owners out , your a good man 👍
I like you and what you are doing.
Congrats.
I had to like and subscribe.
Didn't want to be non compliant.
Thank you ☺️❤️
Great result, hopefully the homeowner can get compensation and move into their house
I love this! As a carpenter, I have seen so many homes be passed with so many stupid lazy defects!
A good job keep it up builders need to be accountable
You no doubt need thick skin doing what you're doing. As I expect you get some agro from these builders but what you're doing is so great. These owners are spending a fortune and will be in debt most of their life for these places and to get this terrible work is heart braking. Keep it up mate.... Please!
WOW - this is terrible...!
I feel so bad for the home owners... Price is what you pay, Value is what you get... With construction costs skyrocketing and home owners trying to get the best deal for themselves are they shortcutting their research? Always Always Always check the last 10 sites your builder has completed prior to engaging them.
So crazy to see . Would love to show you a video of my house in holland wich is maybe 50 years old the buildingquality is amazing comparing to what i see in your videos. ❤❤ But you do great job these homeowners should also still be happy aftjer 50 years
Great work as always. Good to see builders being accountable. Hell they charge enough so they should deliver.
Schmozzle
Best word ever for all these incidents.
Bring back family builders.
Less government oversight more reputation.
Thank you for highlighting issues in the building industry. Just proves self regulation does not work. Cheers
I'd be stressed out too. Wtf. Good work uncovering these dirty builders. 👍
learning alot from your videos, thanks for sharing a lot of this information that i think is crucial for anyone wanting to build their home in australia
