I love how Carlo teaches on the ddj 400! That way emerging djs can do Martin garrix skills too! It shows that a good dj can dj on any type of equipment cheap or expensive👍
Absolutely agree! The guy is a legend and there is a lot more to cover than just one transition for example the way he uses acapella with tech-house is insane.

I was always curious what Martin Garrix did with his set and I also could follow this even thought I don't know anything at all about ''DJ'ing'' , so thank you for this! (I only didn't really understand the last bit)
Martin is amazing, personally I don't like it when music producers fake djing just as a way to play they're music but Martin is a insane and inspirational DJ
I've never seen anybody explain what a DJ does while they are back there twisting knobs. I know everybody is going to have their own individual style which is what should make a DJ unique from others out there. I have zero experience as a DJ but have always wanted to know some of the basics of how it is done. So for me your explanations in a sense laid a basic foundation that I hope will enable me to build from. Thanks for the info, I do appreciate it.
Originally it was blending two records together at the same time, while controlling speed, eq levels, and other details to make seamless transitions from one record to the next. Eventually it became a skill contest as tricks were developed to make it more entertaining. Cutting, scratching, juggling and mixing are techniques used for vinyl djing.
@@austinrobertson6160 that is just absolutely not true in any shape or form. Ben UFO is phenomenal at mixing and is found seamlessly going from track to track with only perhaps a couple of minutes of the full track exposed. His recent 2019 Dekmantel Boiler Room is a clear example of that. Of course he plays the right track at the right time but there’s just way more to the complexity and art of his mixing
This is very useful to me as a beginner. Thank you. I'd love to see some techno or deep house DJs like Carl Cox, Nicole Moudaber, or the Claude VonStroke :)
Hey Carlo! I am a long time follower on Facebook, didn’t know you have RUclips!! You just popped in my recommendations, automatically subscribed! Stay safe always!!
Love these insights. Like these types of reviews. Brings to light how different DJs do their thing and how we can emulate them while making it our own. Great work as always. Love how you make this so transparent. Carl Cox should be next!
Watch his In My Mind videos on his channel. He basically talks you through exactly what he does as he's mixing. Highly recommended it to anyone looking to learn how to DJ. (after I've recommended Atenditos, obviously 😉)
I Mix psytrance & this is not possible for that style! I don’t really mess up with the tracks! It’s not possible with psytrance because the tracks are too long & all of them has a story to tell & psytrance dancers don’t like to be disturbed by jumping from this track to that track! I normally have a good track selection & I cut the resting time & give the dance floor a rest time when I feel they need it! Beside the guy that was mentoring me mentioned that music producers stay in the studio & make these tracks why Mix it with something else if it’s good already! We don’t have to touch the nubs all the time & add Fx & this & that to show the crowd yeah look at me I’m the dj! I’m the one! It’s less about the dj & more about the dance floor
Carlo, I love these artist breakdowns/analyses. I’ve got a challenge for you… do a drum & bass DJ! Consider: Andy C, Dimension, and/or Delta Heavy (they all have different styles - pick whoeverS you like!). 🙏🏼

Bro, I love these kind of videos! You should definitely study other techniques from other DJs! Perhaps Calvin Harris, Kygo, Diplo, heck maybe The Chainsmokers!
I did check a bunch of them out before, but most of them used techniques I already broke down from other artists. Diplo is the one I havent gotten around to yet

What Rumen said!
His transitions are honestly fool proof. I guess less is indeed more.
Woot! I definitely agree!
I was gonna say, this is all stuff I taught myself by just experimenting lol
And it's great to see he keeps a simple line of FX: Echo, Reverb. Very effective in club and EDM setup.

Well Idk, there's s picture of him with a dj console and he was a kid
Everyone shifts the low end. It establishes what song has dominance over the others
This whole video is DJing basics that any DJ would know and do. Not just Garrix
Yeah I just commented exactly that! But latelly people been using more the filter to make the swaps instead of using only the bass!

Can you do Ben UFO? He's world renowned for his DJ skills, and ability to mix any genre. Might be nice to do a DJ that isn't EDM
Ben ufo isn’t a crazy mixer, usually let’s songs play out. More of a “right song right time” type of dj.
