Dj'ing is a fucking scam.
I remember when DJ's would occasionally bop, smile, nod a little.
Nothing fancy, intricate or excessive.
Genuinely enjoying the moment, feeling a mix, crowd energy etc.
No wiggly, Fraggle arms in the air, jumping, or smarmy "look at me" expressions and posture.
God bless the true DJ's, producers and artists out there.
Past and present.
Pretty boring
Learn some real skills, like when we mixed manually..
ASs a DJ ,even if I wanted to hop around, when I am spinning, there's no time for it. I am working the turntables and records so the crowd can have a nice time, If I want to please myself ,I will turn on my gear and play right here in my home studio...
💯 Thank you 🙏
Was a resident DJ for 18 years in a major nightclub in Los Angeles and cant believe how much these clowns are paid to jump around and push knobs for absolutely no reason at all...
It's infuriating that these no talent ass clowns get paid ungodly amounts of money to jump around, touch knobs on unused channels, and throw cake into the crowd. I miss my raver days from the 90s and early 2000s when real DJs spun vinyl and they actually beat matched, blended, and made smooth transitions.
I blame the general public that comes into the place and pays for the admission. The problem is is society has been dumbed down. If there is a demand for this kind of trickery and people will still line up to pay for it then it will continue. It's kind of like the way it's the simps fault that women are so entitled these days. I don't really blame the women. I blame the simps. If the women dont get away with this behavior and were to get put in check they wouldn't act like that.
Hello mister, any advice for getting a job as Dj in a nightclub?
@@danielbell7855 well said bruh
Alison Wonderland was mixing, saw that same clip recorded in LA where she actually mixed. Some djays have a habit of touching a button or knob with the intention of making an adjustment but don’t.
i can get going to turn a knob but you barely move it cause you're too busy jumping around. but to do it so many times back to back to back to look busy is a bit much. alison can mix so i don't get why she needed to go hyper to prove herself
When you really start to feel the mix or just the music in general. It’s really hard not to get in hyper mode. Some people also have nervous ticks. Before passing judgments on these djs. See what it feels like playing for over 100,000 people and experience the pressures of playing day in and day out year round. And keep everyone excited for your music. Because the real talent is also producing. Making your own beats and music. Playing and mixing them for people live is just another aspect to get your own music or remixes out there. I’m honestly ashamed of this video. It’s just for likes and shares. This guy needs to know the pressures before he casts judgments. Yes there are a lot of fake djs out there. Paris Hilton was one of them. We see them all over RUclips. But for some of these artists he wanted to expose and bash. Will put a hurting on him if he ever wanted to go up against them live. Or produce in general. This generation has turned into a bash generation. All for likes and shares. It’s honestly sad. Instead of bashing or trying to expose people. Let’s just life them up. That may actually give them the courage to keep going and perfect there dream and not bring them down to just quit.
@@bradantle7669 So your argument is that it is okay to fake your DJ set if you are playing in front of a big crowd? You are so far off the mark with this, it's not even funny. If you are fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to play at those big shows, you for SURE should be coming with your A game.
Been into the culture for a long time, was a club dj for about 15 years, and have never witnessed so much knob tweaking in my life. Agree with Ryan 100% - if the crowd is hyping you up, you’ll want to deliver.
Yeah that's right, some DJays really do have that habit, but when there is a habit, they're usually holding some knobs, in case to mess up with the filter or freqs and it's clearly seen that they're doing it on habit, but not in this case, this time she was 100% faking the job, trying to look busy... I'm not judging tho, i just don't like it...
To be fair to Paris, she probably thought she was actually djing

This is what happens when technology makes DJ’ing easier... people pretend it’s hard.
couldn't have said it better myself...but to be honest, djing is not hard at all, its about recognising matching drum patterns from different songs most of the time...

I agree, seriously if you don't first learn on vinyl get out, the art of DJing is dead! I have zero interest in watching knob twisting (wink-wink), try grabbing a record and finding a drop spot, take the time to learn your albums, such a craft, now a button.
Mixed vinyl 20+ years and to stand there cue and sync these days has taking all the art out of the game. People obsessed with 4 decks mixing etc. Learn vinyl before you call yourself a dj.

I think on big Festivals it has a good ground. The DJ´s creat the setup before at home or in the studio, because on Festivals is a very Big light and effect show they are all before programmed with the setup was the dj give to the sound and light crew. It´s most all with Timecode copelled so that the light and effects points perfect fitt´s. That what we on Festivals see with light and effect can never played live so perfectlie. So the DJ´s make the work also before Festivals starting and on Festivals it is her Job to interakt with the Crowd and make great mood. I think most it is 1 Turntable on the festival that realy runs and they mixing only a little bit with effects so how echo, flanger or turn the sound down to interact with the crowd or settings loops for the interacting with the crowd and the MC.
Most it is yes so that a Live mixing setup is never same how the setup before thats why DJ´s mixing fake i think.
I will also say, sure play they a little bit on Festivals real but most it is all time show and interacting with the crowd to creat a good mood and make the festival unfergetable for the Visitors.

3 out of 5 are fake fake dj'ing clips -.-
Only 2
Which ones?
At these huge festivals like Ultra, Tomorrowland, etc. a lot of sets are pre-mixed prior to the event. The artists are there to put on a show and to control/play around with different effects, the actual mix is already done.
@dimsuminab0x
There was nothing like that in the 90s. At the MAYDAY in Dortmund/Germany back then, the DJ put his vinyl records on the turntable and played music. When a real DJ notices that people aren't dancing. He can steer his set in a different direction at any time. Nowadays it's not about music anymore, but unfortunately about a show. The DJ is no longer the focus. Really sad.
If you are not live, that makes you a fake...no one if they knew would pay to even see that...at least I hope not...we see the videos, but why are they not called out on that by whoever planned the event...shouldn't that make them look bad and people wanting there money back or just to fucked up to care...
DJs are DJs no matter what. It’s all about playing music. When I DJed I only had a a mixer, 2 turntables, amp, and speakers. It was all about finding the right music to mix together, match the temples, and keep everyone dancing and having a good time.
Why even bother.. wheres the fun in pretending to mix..I'm no pro but this lot are just embarrassing 😂
The bag sir ......
The clip with laidback luke.. he just touch the nobs for control, lots of djs are doing it, just for checking everything is ok, i do it my self alot, it sucks to play for a crowd and forgetting to put on the bass on the drop, or forgetting to reset EQ’s. Even the best dj’s in the world getting nervous before a show, so not so strange they want to double check stuff🤗👍🏻

As a new dj im very angry to see type of crap. I proffer to embarrass myself in front of people than being fake. I love DJing I would never make myself fake
For real tho
I'm new to DJing too and I really highly suggest that you start a record collection and start spending vinyl. I don't want to support this new technology because people are abusing it and allowing for fake DJs to get paid. There's so many talented DJs out there and the fake ones are taking the money. Screw that dude. On top of that learn to produce your own music. It's hard at first when you start out, some people get it quicker than others but once you learn everything it's quite easy. Start producing music, start spinning vinyl, and don't by any equipment that automatically beat matches the song because that's absolutely cheating as well. Final all the way my friend and may your DJ journey be awesome!

Alison Wonderland clip was a little stretched she threw down a wicked set at the lab....you caught her in the middle of some wonky transitions.....she can throw it down.
agreed
I understand the reasoning behind some of it (not that I agree), but in the case of some good DJ's (big name), they have issued that because of the big production (lighting, fire, videos, etc) they have to pre-record sets for the said festival.
That being said, Paris, that's the first thing I noticed before you point it out: there are no track loaded WTF😂😂
I make some decent mixes, and prefer to be a little DJ that keep it real.
Keep it coming!
Plenty more to come, I have plans to make many more of these style videos
This year’s Oscar for best “acting” goes to Paris Hilton.
I recently saw 'We Own the Night', some festival-night on Dutch cable. I think it's there because of the corona-virus, as you can 'tune in' to the room via Zoom and leave messages with people alike.
When I tuned in on TV, there was a great DJ playing, good, proper house music, so I decided to join the Zoom-channel as I was a bit bored. I could just see the DJ in question was really doing something by looking at his face and the abundance of a lot of 'crowd-entertaining' (no crowds because of corona, but you get the point)
About 10 minutes after I joined the Zoom-channel, his set ended and an 'act' took over. Suddenly there were 2 'DJ's' behind the equipment (something I already don't understand) but more importantly: they seemed to be more busy with throwing their hands up in the air and pumping their fists than actually doing something. I also found it quite typical most people left the Zoom-channel quickly as well...
Nobody needs to pre-record a set regardless of production; Yes you need to give your lighting director your track list but after that it's just timecoded; wind the jog dial back mid set by mistake? no problem! the lighting show just went backwards too and the fire got sucked back into the cannon.
Actually I have the tendency to grab nobs and turn them inadvertently because I in mid-set get curious about how changing something in the EQ will make the sound change. I might not actually turn the knob sometimes very much. Now that I see these videos - it makes me think some may think its fake lol.
I feel you, like when your double dropping its nice to have the hand ready to kill one of the mid eqs just incase there are vocals on both tracks or even just parts of the sound you want to highlight at different times. W comment mate 👌
Did you see that in some cases they did not actually touch or turn the knob. Or that the channel wasn't even open 🤣🤣
It is fake. You should know what your eq buttons do. That's the point! If you don't know what a mixer does you don't know how to dj.
@@jessicawalton3497 it's not about knowing what it does for the majority of the crowd. And that's where the problem appears. At a rock concert you would have the same thing although i imagine it be harder to fake it. But it happens.
When I’m getting really carried away, I’ll double and even triple check knobs and faders are properly set by touching them. I’m sure I appear to be doing the same thing at times. Hands moving quickly, but not really changing anything. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Oh well. It’s a good habit to be in.
The video is lovely!
I don't follow pop icons and I just found out paris is a dj. I immediately questioned this. Lol
DrDre pushed less buttons and twisted less knobs to create the chronic
What I don't understand how these DJ's get to where they are by doing this though. I have been an enthusiast DJ at home (and I started on Technics) for over 16 years. In the summer of 2019 I got my first gig at a small bar in Spain. I have never had the opportunity to play for so many people in these videos,... and then all they do is bull shit the crowd. Makes you wonder.
To be fair, I dont think the crowd care! Unless you're a super judgemental fellow Dj, the party goers dont really care. They are there to drop pingers, listen to music that sounds consistently good, jump up and down and suffer the come down tomorrow.
Funny, and not directed at you, but every comment about having all this talent and what it means to be a Dj like there are rules to this shit and they boast decades of experience - yet where are all these amazing talents? Am I talking to tiesto in the youtube comments here? Why exactly, haven't all these amazing talents hit the world stage. The talent comes to to song selection, and production.
So many Djs out there with the most amazing talents, yet no one knows who you are. Keep playing for yourself, and let the obvious jealously sink in, you never made it. If you cant entertain an audience, you're just some person who can beat match and scratch on a deck at home; nothing wrong with that, but stop pretending like there is this Dj rulebook about what makes a great entertainer.
My opinion, if they are playing in front of 20k+ crowds, getting paid 100s and thousands they are doing something right.
16 years and never got booked ? Well you probably have bad music taste and no knowledge about anything related to clubbing… listen to better music and start going out
Most of them EDM "DJ"s.... what would you expect? 😅😅

@@frankgrimes7388 you can clearly see her dropping the bass down on deck 1
Okay so here's my take on this video...
N I think you should've paid a bit more attention to detail, as 3 out of those 5 can be totally explained and are not "FAKE" djs.
1) The Second Clip, if you watch closely, you see him change, idk if it's an effect, of sample from one to the other hence, one light coming off, and him positioning it on another, slightly reposition the bass to "12 oclock", and interfering with the trim on a specific line whilst ensuring the volume fader in a certain line is down, and driving the other up, even tho it's up already (I catch myself pushing the fader up at times even tho it's maxed, it's just a reflex)..
2) Third clip, you can CLEARLY see the individual shifting the bass, and trip buttons, watch the angles, they were before touched, and after touched, AND he positioned his headphone cue listener from channel left, to the right channel, also, there was no "mixing" done in the video, no transitions at all, so we don't have a clue if he was just fiddling with the equalizer to ensure the song has a different sound, whether it be more or less bass, a slight filter effect etc, or if he's playing, cause there CLEARLY was mixing done on 2 separate channels done at some point because those were 2 clips mashed together...
3) Fourth Clip, I do not understand what you're trying to say when it was CLEARLY a build to a drop on a mashup :-/ may not have done the mashup live, but he's still mixing and transitioning live, the camera angle makes it look as tho the CDJs are off, but that's camera angles and lighting problems, happened to ALOT of people I know and alot more i've seen online.
4) The FIRST clip, and the Paris clip tho... SPOT ON... clearly fake Dj-ing... Paris is using a pre-recorded set cause all her channels are down except the one channel she's probably getting an AUX in from because the CDJs also have nothing loaded onto them.. and the first clip, it's either a fan playing the ass, or another pre-recorded mix
best COMMENT!!!!!

The best actual djs in the world are the people you’ve never heard of playing smaller parties in your home towns. They aren’t worried about their image or being the center of attention. They are passionate about the art and the music.
I feel like the bonus clip was a “I don’t want this gig so I’m gonna get lit and hype my friends up” thing
"Talented" DJ'ing went out the window once vinyl stopped being used, but it's all subjective. I write music and I can tell you some of the more complex synths are tied to oscillators or some kind of modulation that playing live (outside a quantized environment) is not always a good idea. DJ sets of old showed the cracks in their timing compared to modern squeaky clean mixes due to modern tools, perhaps why these DJ's can easily get away with their handwavium.

@@designasaur5354 Sick burn, bro! And you even liked your own reply, how cute!
I think there's a few problems with this video.
1. Being a dj means a lot of different things, so the act of "djing" is kind of an umbrella term for a lot of different things. You could be at a wedding just playing music everyone wants to hear. You could be on a stage with a rapper, scratching and getting the crowds hyped. You could be in a radio station taking requests to play over the radio. Not every dj has to know or execute fancy transitions and effects. You don't even have to know how to beat match.
2. Just because a dj presses a button or turns a knob and there isnt immediate audible indication that something was done does not mean that a dj is just faking it. It could be that what the dj is doing only he can hear in his headphones, or it could just be periodic turns of a knob for not so noticeable changes that will eventually help lead into a transition. For example, one could periodically turn the low frequencies knob down so once you're ready to transition, the lows are out of the way for the next song, but the crowd didn't notice the difference
3. The only people in a crowd who care if the dj is actually djing are other djs.
I'm not saying you're wrong about these people faking, but i think you make a lot of assumptions based off audio feedback from visual queues, or lack thereof i should say. I think "fake djs" should be called out because it's deceitful, but this is about the equivalent of a popstar lipsyncing at their own concert.
i will agree here with your pragmatic and mature response. At the end of the day, the abbreviation DJ just stands for disc jockey, when records were still a thing it was the DJ's job to swap out vinyl. These days the big electronic djs have transformed into something new and part of what comes with it is a bit of performance. Still, I've always hated the needless twisting of knobs or at least pretending to. But thats because I know they're not actually doing anything. I'd honestly rather see the DJ throw his/her hands up and try to rile up the crowd instead of pretending to twist the mid eq or flip the fader for no reason.
a DJ is as we all know means "Disc Jockey" and in todays world most "wannabe" DJ's are nothing more than entertainers, but like to call themselves a "DJ". As this vid proves.

I don't use laptops, I purposely don't preset any cues that's what the headphones are for, I don't make any play lists. I pick my first song and then read the crowd for the rest of my playlist. I do all that to keep my creativity at a high level. I actually love the pressure of having only three minute to figure out what to do next. Thats what makes it fun for me. I couldn't imagine just pushing play and toggle. I love beat maching, I play in key 70% of my set and love knowing when it time to break that rule. Love taking the crowd on a journey.

@TRIX TRIX that's my point, just because he drives automatic doesnt mean he is less of a driver or that he is faking it. That's just what he drives, which is faster. Sure manual is more fun and I only drive manual cars, and I can agree that will be like vinyl, but I don't see automatic drivers as less of drivers, even tho most of them cant drive, there still is some very good drivers who drive automatic, no need to hate.
@@TheInsaneHardstyle Plus there's people who play traditional instruments who pretty much look down an all DJs. They're pretty much blowhards. Don't be that guy. I agree with you 100%.
I just started vinyl djing. Thanks to my 53-year-old friend who was a trance DJ in San Francisco in the 90s. Yeah he's not with that new stuff either. He never switched over to cd systems. He still spins vinyl and he just sold me his older setup, to vinyl decks an amp, a mixer and two monitors... Give me a stack of vinyls to practice and I got it down under an hour of my first day starting to spend vinyl and mix. Beat matching came naturally to me because well, I've already produced music before and I grew up being a musician. So maybe that helped me easily beat matching things. I just know where things go and how it sounds. But I'm going to pass down the torch when I get older too and continue passing down this art of eat matching and mixing spinning vinyl. That's the only way. That's true DJ sht. All this fake stuff is going to fade pretty quickly because people are catching on.
"Air djing" 😂
Imagination dj set mix 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪
I think he needs to listen to the the words on his t-shirt.😂
I been a Dj for over 20 years and watching this makes me mad. Anybody can put a playlist of songs on and act like they can Dj but it takes real skill and practice to actually Dj.The only reason Paris Hilton is up there is because of who she is. You tell her to mix a song and she might as well just walk off the stage
The subs on the bonus clip tho!
When your t shirt says GO HOME
Maybe you should (first clip )
This whole shit started in the Bronx. Many still haven't mastered it with your Serrato crutches
It clearly shows that a computer can easily replace a overpaid DJ in today's society.
Yeah FCK technology. Erase the machine!
I would like to ask you a question sir in your opinion what makes a good DJ??
Makes you think how sick “Black Coffee” is. Plays decks with one hand. And kills it.
How long did it take to learn one?
Laid back FoooooooL with no headphones 🎧 🤣🎚
Been DJing for ten yyears. Loved 2 deck mixing, Have already ymastered it. But mastering 4 deck is a whole new ball game. Its still difficult at times. Kudos to those who can do it smoothl.
How much are this machine? How long does it take to learn one these?
The first 1 was a wind up by a camera guy on set, it’s been confirmed few years back
If you're not using vinyl turntables you're not a DJ. You're just playing a video game.
They dude at the end with a Boss guitar effects unit....
LMAO THE FIRST CLIP XD
wow, that dj made a red light come on.
And number 2 the guy was trying to covor the sunlight from blinding his controller
Most videos have already been posted on RUclips many times before.
My Guy can dj with a cooking stove.. 🤣🤣🤣
If these fools are going to mess around to a pre-mixed set, they could at least have chosen a few decent tunes to mime along to 🤦♂️
paris does she’s using sarto and that doesn’t come out on cds load track thing i thought i would say
I really wish we could see the faces of these fake af DJs 😂
Social media has lots of fake DJs. I watch people change songs with knobs that would never do that.
