35+ years later and flatland is still under valued & under appreciated yet the highest technical skills in the bmx world but hey look another X games with massive jumps....
Ho. Ly. Crap. That was F-in' amazing! ...But what the hell is wrong is up with all the people in the background? Is France such an amazing place that people don't even notice this awesomeness?

Boooring. Seriously when will flatland BMX'ers realise all these non stop spinning tricks are boring to watch to most of us? Yes it's incredibly skilled BUT it's still boring. When is someone going to break the mould, step out of the square and do something cool with the sport. So much potential, so boring to watch. Old school BMX is MUCH cooler to watch. Why is that?
Matthias has changed the whole sport into something people enjoy to watch. Have you ever rode Flatland? If you did you would be able to comprehend what's enjoyable and what's not. Old school riding can't even compare to what's being done on a bike today.
Ron - yeah i get. I did say it's incredibly skilled in my original post though it's still boring to watch. The old 80's 90's bmx freestyle is a lot cooler to watch. It had style. Style counts for a lot. As i said modern bmx freestyle just looks like some dude constantly spinning around non stop on a bmx it's not real nice to watch. It is what it is.
Seriously though, who gives a fuck what you think. You cant ride flat and if you don't wanna watch then don't. But as a flat rider, if you cant do it shut the fuck up. Flat is such a personal thing, no one cares who's watching or what they think, that ain't why we ride... I'm sure Mattias knows your first name right? Fuckin clown.
SomethingTVTV Oh, also if you think it's Boooooring, probably because you have no idea what's going on. If Matt's so not progressive and it was better back in the day PLEASE! Post a vid of the best you got so people with nothing better to do can comment on your style. It's only fair
You hit the nail on the head i have no idea what's going on. To a fan of the sport like myself who does not know the names of these tricks it just looks like some guy non stop spinning around and around. Like i said yeah i'm sure it's amazing and technical as all hell but to someone who doesn't know it looks boring. One difference the old days had was they did a trick and rode off after it that way you could tell when a new trick was being performed. It looks much nicer to a an outside fan of the sport. That fact that everything is continuous and not only continuous but spinning non stop the composition of the tricks isn't cool. Anyhow take it for what it is. Check out some late 80's, early 90's Kevin Jones videos. He rides out of his tricks and then starts a new one. Sometimes the tricks link together and that's cool too but not 500000 tricks all rolled into one big spin fest.
One of the best BMX videos I've watched.
