Nice one! I was there, doing my first ever 70.3. You'd probably finished this video and eaten your food before I got near the finish line!! I absolutely loved it. Competed with a friend and we started and finished together. Definitely going back next year!
You’re on a roll Daniel. Brilliant. Working out the transitions would keep me up at night if I ever tried a triathlon. Well done to Liz for getting to each place to film too.
Cheers dude! Yeah it adds a nice perspective doesn’t it, just couldn’t have done it on the last lap 🤣. Roth gave me camera permission but I couldn’t bring myself to do it 😬
20-24 age bracket, get the boat. I near choked when ya said that 🤣🤣 That is a cracking performance, well done. Absolute sickener rolling over the 4.30 mark though 🙈 Nice coverage again Liz 👌
@@TriathlonDan We can all dream dude 🤣 I'm a few AGs up the way and get results like I'm further up again 🙈😁 Nice work and great to see the training paying it's dues. 💪
Well done Dan, great time. I loved the new end to the bike course with less elevation. Mark was stood near Liz for ages at the bike in (blue cap), but didn't go & say hello 🙈🤣. Great footage Liz! 👍
Well done matey that is awesome. I said hi to your better half on Saturday when I tacked my bike, she looked tired then lol. I just don't know how people do the speeds you do. I did a PB yesterday at 7 23, that run jeez, had my plan until the last lap and then went to plan B
Well done Dan I don't know how you managed to swim, I was at Holkham 4 weeks before you and there were hundreds of Geese with goslings around and the lake looked to have loads of weeds
Thanks Rog! Haha they must have chased the geese off, and there was a channel cut out from the weeds I think. There was some in the water but it was far from the worst swim I’ve been in!
Thanks Nick! I guess the answer is I don’t really know. I had an easier ride than normal just because of how it played out, so maybe that helped, I was expecting to crumble on the run but didn’t 🤷♂️ sport makes no sense sometimes
Great video and performance! I did keep my eyes open but you were well ahead of me, the run course was almost empty on my last lap. Epic day out though, I thought the run course was a beast, what was your take on it?
Thanks Mark! That last lap certainly bites, I focused on recovering on the downhill gravel section, but it’s always going to hurt. I guess I’m ‘blessed’ with hilly terrain at home so it never feels intimidating, still difficult though
Good effort there Dan. Did you take your helmet off before realising you had racked in the wrong spot? I'd be worried about being penalised for being in control of my bike with helmet off/unclipped in T2, especially at a national champs. Not a problem for me as I've tried to run out of T2 with my helmet still on many years ago!
Thanks! I don't use HR on the bike, but do sometimes use it on the run and I do like to look back at it, so I just use the wrist HR on my watch (Garmin Epix2) and use a bike computer for the bike, but upload the file from my watch. Straps annoy me :D
It was my first 70.3 the drafting was a joke 😂 how did you get to start so early? I put 30mins on entry so I was in the 3rd wave and it was so annoying trying to get past people on the swim 😅
Haha it's not always like that don't worry! I was in the first wave, I've been top 50 in the last two Outlaw Half's I've done so think that's a factor. Pot luck with the swim isn't it
12 meters or more between riders, if you get within that you have 30 seconds to pass. There's still a benefit at 12 meters, but even more at the 4/5 meters some people were riding at :D
@@TriathlonDanthat's 12m front wheel to front wheel, correct? So the gap is more like 10m, I get about a 20w saving off that distance, it's pretty significant
Awesome result and great video, as always! Just be careful with having your supporters ride next to you whilst you race - that could easily turn into a DQ for coaching. If supporters are talking to you, both feet need to be on the ground

Awesome work mate and well done to number one support crew Liz for getting some great footage 👏🏻

Good work mate. I swear I heard a turbo boost fart on 8:20 😂
Haha yeah maybe 🤣🤣
Came here for the straighteners update and didnt get it 😢😂 Great racing again dude. As always great content. 👌

Well done Dan, really impressive especially on the back of Roth just a short time ago. Did you not have any fatigue carried from this?

As a non triathlete, what are the drafting rules in a triathlon?
12 meters or more between riders, if you get within that you have 30 seconds to pass. There's still a benefit at 12 meters, but even more at the 4/5 meters some people were riding at :D

@@Richiemousethat’s just for long distance. Short distance doesn’t have drafting rules e.g. Olympic distance as the races are too fast and short

That’s what’s on it 😬 it’s the first time it’s happened to be fair, might shorten the chain a link
@TriathlonDan wow, never had a chain drop on mine. Good plan lose a link.
I’ll be honest, Outlaw’s draft busting is a joke. The motos are more bothered about crossing the line than the 20-person pelotons swerving into you!
Even if the Motos are just a visual deterrent, they’d help!
