These helped me get comfortable learning everything about my gun without going to the gun range and blowing through my ammo. It prepared me to shoot at the range with confidence, and to have it near me at home making it as comfortable as I feel having my phone near me.
Another reason to use them that you do not mention is if you have a tendency to anticipate recoil and"push" the gun, when the dummy round comes up you will see how much you are doing it. And putting several in your mag will force you to think about not doing that. Thanks for the video.
These helped break in the feed mechanism on my new Deagle without having to run a hundreds of rounds through it. When I took it to the range the gun cycled like butter, no failures.
I use mine for fry fire and tap rack purposes and also fixing failure to fires and failure to feeds... Great for dry firing and working on your draw and magazine exchange. Great video
@@andrewboos-hartig6206 Dummy rounds are weird! I made a dummy round out of a Federal .308 round that had a wiggling, sliding bullet in the case...so I took it apart, filled it with salt (lol, superglued the inside and sealed the bullet in. I don't know if I overfilled it, but the round will occasionally jam my PTR91's bolt forward, and I'll need to use two hands to pull the cocking handle back. This doesn't happen at all with live ammo, and I have no idea why it happens with the dummy I made. I can't imagine the manufactured dummy rounds would be any better than a "dead" real cartridge.
I appreciate this ability to simulate a failure. That's very useful. What about the possibility of an actual failure to fire? The whole keeping the pistol down range for a period of time would contradict this. i know rare with a good pistol, but still makes me wonder on gun safety unless you 'know' where the round is, which would mean it might break the simulation of being surprised by it. Thoughts?
If there is a hot round that fails to fire, you’d clear it the same as you would with the dummy rounds. Drop the mag, rack the slide, clear the chamber, load another mag(EDC is best to carry a spare mag just in case this happens) I wouldn’t recommend tapping and racking simply because you don’t know if the malfunction is the round, weapon, or mag. Dropping the mag will clear 2/3 of those. While putting in the fresh, operational mag will determine the effectiveness of the weapon.
Dumb question I’m still new to these but will they damage your magazine if you load them into one and leave them loaded in your gun for a long period of time or is that not something to worry about?
Maybe make the final round a fake bullet with a dense rubber blasting cap end to lesson the impact of dry fire while plinking. Guns with internal hammers should benefit by putting less shock on their firing mechanisms during practice.
for some reason i pictures the gun exploding with the dummy barrel after forgetting you put a live round in it and the firing pin fires it... but im not sure..
Yup, he flinched. Probably should work on that. Someone suggested how dummy rounds can be used for that purpose and he responded with "Thank you for taking the time to comment." Maybe in return he should take the time to take the advice.

The plastic ones broke in my 1911 and jammed up my pistol to where I had to take it to our armorer. The extractor broke the lip off the dummy round.
I have not encountered this issue.
Maybe its the heavy built nature of the 1911. Sounds like the metal ones are all around better anyway.

Yes these are excellent for learning about your weapon and do it safely! Gotta get me a few!
Your entire video had/has purpose. 🧡
Excellent video and excellent explanation. This city boy thanks ya!!

Very useful info. Thank you

TLDW; They are good for training.

My dummy rounds only eject when my glock is at a gravitational angle
Aluminum ouch RIP to whatever gun that went in
(Jk just thought I would be snobby like most rude people on the Internet)

Reshpeck I wasn’t commenting that timestamp on the basis that he flinched, I only commented that just to replay it over and over again.
@@user-xw4zt9gc7l Well it is indeed an excellent example of why this exercise is useful as it exposes a fundamental flaw in this guy's technique.

Dummy rounds or dummy bullets dangerous?actor Brandon Lee died a dummy rounds shot.accident
Wow a Glock what a surpsise amercians with there Glocks. I like 1911 better
lliw lxas I am American. I hate glocks. I own a beretta 92fs
Nothing wrong with the glock just not an elegant gun.
Lmao shut the fuck up. The 1911 isn't that good of a gun.
The word you're looking for is "their", idiot.
Based on how you spelled "their", I'm guessing you're too young to have experienced either a Glock or a 1911
