In the month of May, @pwnisher hosted a 3D rendering challenge. Using an established animation and composition layout, artists from all around the world had to create their own unique interpretation.
For my entry I wanted to really dive into world building, I studied the artwork of Simon Stalenhag and his style of world building. The way it draws in the viewer to ask questions and provoke the feeling of exploring.
If you haven't seen the previous challenge, go check it out here:

This is my entry to the render challenge by Clinton Jones, of Corridor Digital. Had a blast coming up with this and look forward to seeing over 2000 artists submissions.
This is gorgeous. I want to see a movie based in this world.
Tales from the loop
@@Maxparata you hero
@@lonewalkerproductions Haha! Big fan of Simon Stalenhag here, so I got to know this :)
2x RTX 3090,
cries in the corner while boiling eggs with my laptop
xDD
wow, youre the only person who can get 3090s respectively
Got them back in Decemeber when they were only slightly marked up
Love the Simon Stalenhag vibe
The Electric State is my absolute favorite
@@MrKlayVFX Have you seen tales from the loop on Amazon I personally loved it and watched it after rediscovering Simon for myself
@@MrKlayVFX I knew it! I thought maybe I was crazy but no it is inspired by the electric state! Its my all time favorite book.
💪🏻
@@MrKlayVFX same, its nice to see someone make something like this I really in joyed it
Only 40h?! Waaat, that's crazy.. amazing job.
congratulations, i feel yours was one of only a few that really nailed the motion of strenuous steps the model was taking. Well done my dude
Dude.. the render is soo cool.. but especially, the story element.... it is so detailed and quite interesting... no wonder you won..
He should won over the Last plant entry. That one is way too unoriginal tbh. This one should be 1st place.
@@3enjamin Yea the plant one was bland af
please tell me how to add sound effects
I wish to be talented as this.
Okay Now I'm interested, make a full movie
>:)
the concept of that harvest thing in the background looks so cool, i wanna see a movie out of this.
This feels like an opening to a movie. So much story packed in 6 seconds. Love every small details. Congrats on winning! Very well deserved!
dang! two 3090? impressive! such as your work of course!
I’m so excited to see all the renders together tomorrow and man your render looks like it’s out of a movie
One of my favorite entries! Love it!
I seen this on another Channel and I came over just to say that this one was the most realistic one out of all of the others that I've seen it made me really want to jump in that world and see what happened what really made me say oh my God was seeing the man push that dead body or zombie body in the ambulance truck I had all types of scenarios going through my head like a zombie outbreak or them bringing a body in but yeah man really amazing
This is so insanely good. I cannot imagine making something like this in 40 hours. Great job!
Congrats for the win!! Amazing work!
Congrats man! Absolutely stunning!
I can't tell if this is Uptonian or dystopian, and I think thats a good thing.
dystopian
This is awesome, but the most impressive thing is that you found TWO 3090s!
Well deserved! Fantastic submission to the challenge!
I'm a firm believer of less is more. I saw tons of crazy mind-bending worlds that were submitted but this is the one that really sucked me in. At first it looks like a very basic animation of a paramedic pushing a body to an ambulance, however the longer you look the more subtle layers you discover. Who died, why did they die, why do they look like a zombie, what is that giant thing in the background that say Harvest Corp, etc. Phenomenal 10 second story telling.
Congratulations. You did amazing work!
Simply beautiful, congrats.
well deserved man! this one is crazy
Really cool to get a breakdown on this one, thanks for uploading, need to learn some more so I'm better prepared for the next challenge lol 😆
absolutely amazing one of my favourite😍😍
Good Job! Final came out looking amazing. Loved the breakdown also.
I would really love to see the actual process of you making this👌🔥
Having such a beautiful render is the sign of a really good artist, but making it in 40 hours is the sign of an exceptionally great one. I can’t imagine making something that good so fast.
This one was my favourite
Man what a phenomenal scene. Congrats on 2nd my guy!
Still think this man is so talented, definitely my favourite. Life the Simon stale bag vibe, mixed with your own touch. Always come back to this one.
I watched both the scp 096 video and the top 100 CGI renders video not knowing you made both This and the scp video. you have allot of talent your render was my favourite and the scp film was amazing
This is really impressive. The composition is amazing.
Congrats on the win
Congrats man you got 2nd place
This is truly amazingly made. 👌🏻
woah, this is awesome! This reminds me slightly of halflife and very much of INSIDE. The sphere really had that ominous INSIDE vibe to it. Mysterious, large, unreachable. This feels like it could be the very start of halflife.
Congratulations!!
congratsss mann, make sure you treat yourself after all of that workkk
My only critique is that he looks like he’s struggling to push the gurney, which shouldn’t be difficult, unless it was in sand or loose mud.
Then again, I am watching this on my phone, so I can’t really see how muddy the ground is.
True I didn't make it apparent enough, but it is in mud. There are some puddles along the path he's on.
@jevf4a2 the animation was made by Clinton himself with a mocap suit so the animation is intended to be like that
You ever get that shopping cart with the bad shaky wheel the at always pulls the cart one way or another? Well this one has two wheels like that LOL! :P
You can hear his steps squelching.
@@MrKlayVFX I have a theory as to how this universe works. Harvest Corp has made some kind of major technological advancement, making its executives incredibly wealthy and powerful. But as a consequence of this advancement, people start to die of a mysterious illness. I would even go so far as to say that those who die of this illness are 'harvested'. Perhaps the illness synthesizes a valuable chemical compound.
Good job
The english language doesn't have a word that can convey how incredible this is, bravo!
Incredible job!
Insane render! I love it!
Well deserved brother
This was the first render caught my attention
This is my favorite one!! . Wanna see tutorial of how to compose
This was my fav out of top 5.
Awesome artwork man
insane compositing. well done
Congrats Dude!!! I knew you gonna make it to the top
Beautiful
This Can touch our soul..
so good! bravo!
Congratulation on 2nd Position
Congrats Klay!
bro this is insane!! so cool.
This looks really amazing! Reminds me of The Electric State!
Wow this is really amazing ! How much time did it take for you to comeplete this , from the creative part till the render .
Dude, this was a fucking brilliant render. I watched clint's video and was blown away by the render. Decided to delve into the world of SCP, came across your short film (096) without realizing it was you. Brilliant stuff, man.
You got second, congratulations man!
Well made, good work
Love the Simon Stalenhag style :)
WOWOWOOWOWO!!!!! amazing work
Congratulations 😍😍
Simon would be proud
Awesome work
This is beautiful
Damn dude, love it
This definitely should have won.
this is it, for me this was the one
This is way too detailed👌🏾
Super cool
Wow! just Wow!
My computer : "Dont you even think about it."
No seriously, this is AMAZING. I want to know how many thousands of hours of work this took.
he took 40 hours which is really less for such a high quality project
This is amazing
Man you are talented
Mind kaboomed
Many of the entries, and also in general side scrollers, seem to be too harsh in the transition between foreground and background, as if you almost see a studio setup with a platform and a background set-piece behind it. It feels a bit too forced, especially between subject and camera, there is zero foreground stuff going on.
Your entry, however, has this really dynamic feel to it and actually feels like a slice out of a real environment. Not only that, but you also don't rely on overused tropes. The combo of futurism with a sense that not everything changed overnight, but many things still are the same as the world we know, also sparks even more interest in the story behind this scene. Really well done and a well deserved win!
Unreal man
that is a hell of a machine
wow
Insane
Really cool. Where can I get this project if i want to try it myself now?
Let’s go #2
Amazing job, absolutely love it. I would like to make it my desktop wallpaper with wallpaper engine. Is there any plan to add it wallpaper engine?
Congratulations sir
This is amazing! Can I ask how you made the background structure? Is it a matte painting? If so, how did you get the red rim of light to interact with the fog/ clouds? Or is it a textured model?
It was 3D stills for the sphere and clouds comp’d in after effects for the background.
Man, i hoped that you will take 1st place
Electric state, love it
esta hermoso hermano
Reminds me of electric state the graphic novel
Amazing
lovely
Amazing work, where are these characters from?
Did you model these characters too, or did you buy them online and where?
they were purchased, but I did alter the textures and made some adjustments. I added hair to the detective and to the EMT
Boys, here is the Harvest we spammed for!!!!
What is that ambulance model? That actually used to be a company based out of washington. Rural metro ambulance. AMR bought them.. I am an EMT, great job man, got chills from this!
Is there any explanation of the details I could read somewhere? I have so many questions trying to make sense of the scene.
What's the green light in the house?
What did the person die of?
What is the big Harvest sphere thingy?
This was inspired by "The Electric State" by Simon Stalenhag
@@MrKlayVFX thank you very much and beautiful work
