Skywalker I think you are the first person I know to say that episode I is your favourite of the Star Wars films, and that makes me happy as I know many people who only find the film ok or don’t like it at all. While my personal favourite is episode III it’s great to know when someone can appreciate a film higher than most people and more importantly have their own opinion rather than follow the crowd.
Theory, I remember the feeling you obviously had after episode 1. I personally saw Starwars in 79, and went to the cinema over and over until watching all 3 in one sitting. Iam currently 49, and something about George Lucas as a story teller which has the passion to fulfil his dream. I just saw the start of episode 1. A LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY. AS SOON as I see that my head doesn't leave the screen and I am myself transported. No other movie has ever had the effect nor come close. Bless you from Australia ❤
42:20 "But I think everybody is in the right frame of mind" -cuts to the crew looking absolutely broken 😂Honestly this is one of my favourite documentaries, it has so many unintentionally funny moments, but its also so goddamn interesting and great to see how it all came about
This takes me back, I used to not only binge watch the movies but also the documentaries. My all time favorite has to be the documentary feature for Episode 3: Within a minute. It's insane the amount of work they put into the Mustafar battle.
It makes me cry a little watching george love creating what is essentially his children it’s so wholesome to see the man the god of this universe so into his world. It really is inspiring to me as someone who wants to create his own fantasy universe to see someone basically having this epic saga flowing through his head and watching him bring it to life.
When you said "got the chills man" I literally did at the same time, goosebumps. And we are the same age. My dad took me and my 2 best friends (still friends with them to this day), 4th grade, I will never forget seeing it.
God it was really hard to see what the actual sand storm did to the tatooine set, what a resilient crew to overcome and still complete George's vision! Well done to all!
I totally agree! For sure, Ray Park has serious kung fu and staff/sword skills! He had to be excited to play Maul in Episode 1. It's unfortunate isn't a big action star, with all that training. He did have a small role in Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever as a goverment agent and did a great fight scene with Lucy Lu's character. I know that sounds insane, but it's true.
I love the fighting style of maul. It's putting in extra energy but gets the opponent to really only do the one move he wants them to do and that is defend
That scene with the theater opening scene. That took me right back to when I was 9 years old. Man I remember the energy and how excited we all were. It was an amazing experience, so surreal. Very fond memory.
I feel really sad watching this documentary knowing that the actor who played Jar Jar was suicidal after the backlash for playing the character. He seems so excited and you can see that he tried his best and a lot of heart went into it.
As a child watching this back in the day, I've always wanted to make a Star Wars Film just like George. Edit: The props, original characters, and the overall creativity involved just seems so fun to me.
I remember the night I saw EP3 at century theaters, in Ventura California. We got the New Yorker pizza that had Newt gun Ray on the box and for a dollar you got Padme‘s starship, I remember I took my dad‘s flashlight put some electrical wires on it, put some red electrical tape around a broom handle and somehow attached it to the flashlight so that the light would shine on the red electrical tape replicating a red light saber. This was imagination, this was the magic we all felt. The nostalgia is still there for me and watching this documentary and looking at your face when they show the news archive footage, I was right there with you because I felt the same way.
I remember being aged 9 and seeing Qui Gonn on the front of a cereal box and thought he looked so cool. & i won a star wars gift in that very same box of cereal. I unfortunately can't remember what it was, but i distinctively remember Qui Gon on that box, finding the toy and being really excited about going to cinema to see it. And 9 year old me loved it. But honestly seeing the behind the scenes stuff and all that goes into it has made me respect the prequels so much more, & respect George so so much more. Seeing how integral he is to literally all parts of the saga is crazy. Everything all the way down to every little ship design, creature design etc. It's such a shame that he writes such bad dialogue as everything about his passion for the galaxy really shows in these documentaries. And after all his work/ideas That he put his soul into for decades, it juat ended up getting huge backlash juat for the script. Resulting in him selling the hole thing and now it just doesn't feel like star wars, it might look like it but something clearly is missing, & after watching these it obvious that something is Mr Lucas!!!! If only someone could have helped sort the script out back in the. 90s, & let Grorge do his thing with everything else, just imagine where Star Wars would be now. A 40 year sage ruined by Rian Johnson for.no reason and poor Georhe Lucas getting such utter diarespect. Lets he him, Filoni and Favreu get Kk out thr dood and get back to where we wanna be. It's such a shame that the skywalker sage (palpatine saga now) has forever been ruoned by RJ and Kk. Poor poor George. He hot like 4 Billion, yet i still feel sorry for him. That's how bad Disney disrespected him. Such a shame. If someone juat said that the dialogue needa sorting, the entire galaxy qould be different. Now we'll never see the otoginal 3 on screen together agaib, & luke.can mever been seen in se light again... Literally. FUCK KATHLEEN KENNEDY AND FUCK ROUNDHEAD JOHNSON.
Thank you Theory for going through these films. Even though my brother introduced me to the OG trilogy, the prequels are my Star Wars films. I was 12 when I went to the midnight premier of Phantom Menace and have fond memories of it. I love all three prequels and still enjoy watching the entire saga (1-6) as well as clone wars, rebels and Mando. Love the work you do for the fandom. Thanks from Toronto 🇨🇦 🤙🏻
@ittai aronson the older fans are the luckier ones since they got to experience star wars the proper way, and sadly the trilogy of our time was made by our buddies Disney. Was born 2001so I was just a young man when Revenge came out.
Many fans didn't like the prequels, but as an old Star Wars fan, I loved them all. Episode one was so awesome, we were in line for almost 2 hours to get into the theater to see it, and i was on cloud nine the entire time. I saw this movie like 50 times. Saw it in the theaters at least 3 times as well. My favorite character is Ewan McGregor's Obi Wan, he did such a terrific job. I cannot wait to see him in his own movie, been waiting a long time for one. As for the last three movies, the best scene out of the 3 combined was at the very end of 9 when Rey says "And I am all the Jedi", and crosses the two sabres and kills Palpatine. Other than that, the last 3 were okay, not nearly as good as the original three, or the prequels. George Lucas is the true master and it shows across all 9 movies.
The video has only just come out; do obviously I haven't had the chance to watch it; but the image of Maul in a t-shirt cracks me up for some reason! XD
Love your videos man. I'm a huge prequel fan as well. You and I are the same age so we grew up with the prequels and they were so awe-inspiring to us at that age. Shame for the older generations who didnt appreciate all the hard work that went into them. I'm very thankful to have experienced Star Wars the way I did.
as much as episode 1 gets hated on.. you have to admit we probably wouldnt have all these marvels films looking as good as they do now without episode 1.
even attacks of the clones had a big impact. it was the first movie shot on digital cameras so it basically influenced almost every movie shot today including marvel
i watched this when it came out in the cinema when i was 7 years old. i had no idea what star wars. my family couldn’t afford to go to the cinema more than once a year but i am forever grateful to my parents for showing me the world of ‘A galaxy far, far away’ and it bred a whole love for all things sci-fi and generally good story telling. I’ll do the same for my future kids one day :)
Just finished watching this video and absolutely loved it! Your reaction added to the enjoyment, and I will definitely be checking out more of these behind the scenes reactions.
Such a crazy feeling when you get a new Star Wars film, everyone is in the theatres, everyone has costumes and lightsabers and everyone is cheering and then… STARWARS! And everyone starts cheering. It’s the best feeling in the world, it really makes you smile, and when you are actually there, all the cheering, everyone is genuinely super happy. ☺️
All the fans in the theater...and you said, 'my people.' Yeah, that's exactly it. The fun and happiness of geekdom. I attended Celebration III, just about a month before Revenge of the Sith came out. 40,000+ people the day George Lucas was there. Cosplayers galore. People from all over the world. Amazing. Best moment was walking into a nearby store with my friend, both of us in costume, to get some bottled water and a little kid, maybe five or six tugging on his mom's sleeve: "Mom, look! Real Jedi!" Made me grin the rest of the day. ;)
I just watched the documentary again today. When I saw the fans cheer at the premier, I had to come back to this older video to see your reaction. You had the same smile I did. Back when Star Wars was still a fun spectacle. I still love this franchise. What it was before Disney's acquisition. Through Star Wars I made two great friends, and through Star Wars I met the best friend in my life, who's as good as a brother to me. That's what Star Wars has always been about for me. The shared passion of millions. I'd love to see you go back and commentate on the OT documentary, Empire of Dreams.

That moment, like how are u gonna top the podrace. And you're like "u mean when 6 year old me peed my pants a little in the theatre when maul buzzed out double sabers?" Edit: so adorable when Anakin says spice pirates lmfao, they grow up so fast
You were only 6 when Episode 1 came out?! You are very young. 22 year old me was very stoked to see young Obi-Wan and his master Qui-Gon lightsaber fight Maul. I though Maul's double bladed lightsaber was quite cool. With two blades, it was so bad ass.

There’s so many reasons why I love Phantom Menace..
Yh its a good movie only bad side was somevouce acting issues, writing and some jar jar scences
i loved all, episode 1 to 3... i think hayden played anakin brilliantly, i loved the politics of the story, the battles, the actors....
yes, the CGI of episode 2 didn't age that well, but for back then it was amazing...
if George never had the balls to make Episode 1,2 and 3, i couldn't be the proud Seperatist that i am today...
DOWN WITH THE CORRUPT REPUBLIC! DEPLOY THE BATTLEDROIDS!!!
**CIS MARCH**
@@tyrionlannister4920 nice 1 and yh i can never see another actor play anakin other than hayden, hope he gets a show or is in obi awns series

Perfect way to start a Sunday, kicking it back with some Theory and Star Wars, love the content
42:20 "But I think everybody is in the right frame of mind" -cuts to the crew looking absolutely broken 😂Honestly this is one of my favourite documentaries, it has so many unintentionally funny moments, but its also so goddamn interesting and great to see how it all came about
When anakin started playing with the sand😂😂😂
" I like sand. It's smooth, fine, soothing, and it gets nowhere"
Cursed moment
Honestly watching the choreography getting trained is superb. Makes the sequels look like child’s play. These actors mastered a very difficult style.
"Jar Jar is the key to all this"-George Lucas
Darth Jar Jar comfirmed
This takes me back, I used to not only binge watch the movies but also the documentaries. My all time favorite has to be the documentary feature for Episode 3: Within a minute.
It's insane the amount of work they put into the Mustafar battle.
It makes me cry a little watching george love creating what is essentially his children it’s so wholesome to see the man the god of this universe so into his world. It really is inspiring to me as someone who wants to create his own fantasy universe to see someone basically having this epic saga flowing through his head and watching him bring it to life.
I had no idea the set in Tunisia was destroyed by a storm, gives me a whole new respect for the crew.
It’s so depressing that the actor of jar jar almost committed suicide. He’s literally my favorite character
I love Jar Jar
Oh really? Did he have personal problems or was it because of him acting in SW?
Cain Cawkwell due to the abuse he got from playing jar jar
HE DID?! *in darth vader* NoOOooOOOoOoOoOoooOOOoOoooOOoO
:,(
Ray Park's dedication to his character is UNRIVALED
He was fighting for his life. He was hoping to make it into the next one. LOL
I totally agree! For sure, Ray Park has serious kung fu and staff/sword skills! He had to be excited to play Maul in Episode 1. It's unfortunate isn't a big action star, with
all that training. He did have a small role in Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever as a goverment agent and did a great fight scene with Lucy Lu's character. I know that sounds insane, but it's true.
Darth Maul wearing a white t-shirt is now the strangest thing I've seen in Star Wars. It's awesome.
Ok and not Jar Jar Binks in the bed of a Toyota?
Seeing young Jake like this warms my heart... I hope he is in a good place today, what happened to him is horrible. Look out for yourself Jake 😥
Little Anakin didn't deserve the hate :(
Wow, I had no idea all that went into these movies. All the dedication and talent poured into these films are insane.

Yeah, and people wonder why it sucked. LOL

I love the fighting style of maul. It's putting in extra energy but gets the opponent to really only do the one move he wants them to do and that is defend
31:15 I like sand it’s nice and not rough and it never gets anywhere
That scene with the theater opening scene. That took me right back to when I was 9 years old. Man I remember the energy and how excited we all were. It was an amazing experience, so surreal. Very fond memory.
Wonder what a Disney documentary of star wars would be............
nevermind i dont want to see it
Confusion chaos and pain I'd bet
I love you. Keep fighting the good fight!
It would be an endless parade of people praising each other. “He/She has such talent, it was wonderful to work with...bla bla”
2 days before rise of skywalker release..
JJ: Hey rey...ur grandads the Emporer now.
they released one for rise of skywalker.
it was just 2 hours of "we're just glad to be working"
I feel really sad watching this documentary knowing that the actor who played Jar Jar was suicidal after the backlash for playing the character. He seems so excited and you can see that he tried his best and a lot of heart went into it.
As a child watching this back in the day, I've always wanted to make a Star Wars Film just like George.
Edit: The props, original characters, and the overall creativity involved just seems so fun to me.
Love seeing everyone fangasm when STAR WARS shows on the big screen, it's an amazing feeling
Holy shit that menu... The nostalgia. I used to watch the movie then the behind the scenes every single day when i was little just holy shit...
I remember the night I saw EP3 at century theaters, in Ventura California. We got the New Yorker pizza that had Newt gun Ray on the box and for a dollar you got Padme‘s starship,
I remember I took my dad‘s flashlight put some electrical wires on it, put some red electrical tape around a broom handle and somehow attached it to the flashlight so that the light would shine on the red electrical tape replicating a red light saber.
This was imagination, this was the magic we all felt.
The nostalgia is still there for me and watching this documentary and looking at your face when they show the news archive footage, I was right there with you because I felt the same way.
i can't wait for revenge of the sith! please stream that one
Such great memories from the 90's. That entire decade. Nothing today will ever replicate them.
One of my all time favourite movies. The Phantom Menace game was the beginning of my love to star wars
Good old PS1 times. That game was excellent
@ittai aronson the older fans are the luckier ones since they got to experience star wars the proper way, and sadly the trilogy of our time was made by our buddies Disney. Was born 2001so I was just a young man when Revenge came out.
I love the phantom menace
XD
I love watching how the movies are made. It is incredible the amount of hours of work goes into making just minutes of film.
"Jar Jar is the key to all of this"
Theory can't hold back the laughter. XD
when you realize natalie portman was just 16 years old when filming this impresses me the most
The scene starting right around 1:04:30 is what Disney has forgotten. This is what Star Wars meant to fans once upon a time.
Thank you George, thank you for great childhood memories that reverberate into adulthood
Thank you so much for not talking every 30 seconds like most RUclipsrs. Could actually watch it and enjoy it.
as much as episode 1 gets hated on.. you have to admit we probably wouldnt have all these marvels films looking as good as they do now without episode 1.
This is Star Wars not marvel they have nothing to do with each other
@@artdrenaline3293 no shit...i talking in relation to special effects. eg: green/blue screens and cgi
@@artdrenaline3293 The last big battle sequence in Endgame is 99% cgi
even attacks of the clones had a big impact. it was the first movie shot on digital cameras so it basically influenced almost every movie shot today including marvel
@virtue you believe Wikipedia? You know that everyone can write an article on Wikipedia I can write also things about a person and say stupid things
i watched this when it came out in the cinema when i was 7 years old. i had no idea what star wars. my family couldn’t afford to go to the cinema more than once a year but i am forever grateful to my parents for showing me the world of ‘A galaxy far, far away’ and it bred a whole love for all things sci-fi and generally good story telling. I’ll do the same for my future kids one day :)
It’s sad seeing how excited the actors and George and everyone was about this movie and how it ended up getting received publicly
Just finished watching this video and absolutely loved it! Your reaction added to the enjoyment, and I will definitely be checking out more of these behind the scenes reactions.
George doing the jar jar walk is the best thing I’ve seen all day😂. 20:02
Lol true
It's awesome
Such a crazy feeling when you get a new Star Wars film, everyone is in the theatres, everyone has costumes and lightsabers and everyone is cheering and then… STARWARS! And everyone starts cheering. It’s the best feeling in the world, it really makes you smile, and when you are actually there, all the cheering, everyone is genuinely super happy. ☺️
So glad your doing this. I have this at my house but watching it along side you is very fun
Real Jedi!" Made me grin the rest of the day. ;)
I watched this documentary over 100x.
George: *sees Jake playing with sand* "hmmm...Jake likes sand, but does Anakin? I gotta look into that and see how his character feels about it."
godamn, this was so bringing to tears awesome, the tech, the way he thought about shots, the way the fans reacted in the beginning. It really was beautiful
Surprised this hasn't been taken down. And thankful.
I watch this video every few months. Have since it dropped.
His reaction to Jake playing with the sand was priceless 🤣
It's so great you are sharing these Theory, if anything this should really push the appreciation of the prequels even further. The duel of the fates still gives me such chills! Love it
What blows my mind from this is that Lucas already knew that Duel of the Fates would be used in ROTS.
Thanks for the upload, loved seeing all the work that went into making this. I’m sure more people would appreciate the film if they saw this. I honestly loved the film a lot.
“We still haven’t tracked down Liam’s beard”
“Check Algeria”
I'm really happy to see all of these bonus DVDs! To be honest, I've never been a huge fan of the prequels, but I still find all the behind the scenes stuff so interesting. Plus I always have had a lot respect for George and the work that goes into this and how he continues to change movie making
I love how everyone else ignored Jett the little kid and Ewan didn’t. He listened and acknowledged him like his equal. Kids pick up on stuff like that.
THATS how you treat people no matter WHAT AGE YOU SHOULD TREAT PEOPLE AS YOUR EQUAL !!

Episode 1 is a good starwars movie we got so much to see in it wat Darth vaders/Anakins child Hud was like . It's a fun movie !
Episode 2 is also a underrated movie
I would watch these all the time during summer vacation as a kid this and revenge of the siths behind the scenes. They made me appreciate the prequels even more and I already loved them

Watching this triggered so many emotions. I loved every star wars ever made by Lucas Films and man to see all the work that went into it made me appreciate it even more!
7:49 imagine driving by seeing this
Never thought I'd see Jar Jar in a Toyota
Seeing all the love put into this movie, makes me wish the final product made more fans happy
I love the prequels, the pod racing, the real light saber fights, and 2 or 3 of the best characters in the whole franchise
I was 9 years old too man. What a journey. These movies embody a child’s imagination takes me back in time to that feeling I had as a kid watching these movies. That feeling of hope and something greater.
That moment, like how are u gonna top the podrace. And you're like "u mean when 6 year old me peed my pants a little in the theatre when maul buzzed out double sabers?"
Edit: so adorable when Anakin says spice pirates lmfao, they grow up so fast
This isnt hayden Christiansen lol
Its a shame how Jake turned out. Will always remember him as that little boy on Tattooine
You were only 6 when Episode 1 came out?! You are very young. 22 year old me was very stoked to see young Obi-Wan and his master Qui-Gon lightsaber fight Maul.
I though Maul's double bladed lightsaber was quite cool. With two blades, it was so bad ass.
The amount of love that was put into these movies it’s just incredible thank you George Lucas no one can match you
