  • Emanuel (Manny) Mandel: The Eyewitness to History video library was created to enable audiences everywhere to hear firsthand testimony from Holocaust survivors. This video was recorded on February 11, 2021. It features Holocaust survivor Manny Mandel, who was born in 1936 in Riga, Latvia, and grew up in Budapest, Hungary. Manny was chosen for a special exchange in which the Nazis traded his life and those of other Hungarian Jews for money and war supplies (the “Kasztner Train”). He survived internment at Bergen-Belsen before finding refuge in Switzerland and immigrating to Mandatory Palestine.

What a journey to end up in Silver Spring Maryland...my home town.i remember as a small child a woman cashier at the langley Park Delicatessen. i never forgot her because she had a number tattooed on her arm. i did not understand why only.those numbers meant something tragic in her life. my Grandmother never explained why she cried so much and lost her family in Lithuania. She couldnt talk about it. so i grew up never understanding the horrors of The war...the prejudice that existed. only knew that woman at the deli was somehow different and those numbers stuck in my mind.
thankyou for your testimony. we must keep this alive. for the youth like me who saw the numbers and saw and heard tears and crying but did not understand what was behind it all..

Excellent sir. I also watch Yad Veshem and Shoal USC...I am a Christian that believes in Israel and not repeating history with the horror. George Santayana quote is my favorite!!!

Mr. Mandel, thank you so much for sharing with me an infamous fragment of the Hitler's Nazi horrendous regimen.
It must have been a painful odyssey to recollect such memories and to recount them; they only echo the evilness of Hitler and his followers.
The crimes and cruelties committed against my sons and daughters, my fathers and mothers, my brothers and sisters hurt me deeply, regardless their ethnicity and nationality.
In Isaiah 2: 4, Jehovah God, the Creator and Source of life, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, promises:
"He will be judge among the nations and will settle matters in relation to many peoples. They will turn their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. The nations will no longer raise their swords against each other and learn no more to wage war."
My immediate neighbors are Jews and I am a Jehovah's Witness.
Their hearts are superior than pure gold by far. They are extremely kind.
The gentleman takes care of my trash can every Wednesday without my asking him to do so. They are lovely human beings, and they are not in need of the smallest improvement.

      Mr. Mandel,
You will truly value this promise recorded in Psalm 37:9-11:
"For evil men will be done away with, but those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth. Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; you will look at where they were, and they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace."
      For how long?
The answer in recorded in verse 29:
"The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it."
Would you not like to live for ever on Earth, made a paradise, with no evil doer hurting our neighbors?
Please take good care of yourself.

It is important to remember the past but it is more important to live in harmony with people around you. People who live around us are far more important than our own culture. Like the proverb says "When in Rome, do as the Romans".

@@pennyulsenberg5931 People manifested on Jan 6 are American Patriots and there is nothing wrong to love, respect, and contribute to the greatness of our own or even adopted country. The term should be reserved for groups as ANTIFA and BLM ... because these groups just want to bully, burn, destroy and harm middle-class working people.
