- President Bola Tinubu has sworn in eight newly appointed federal permanent secretaries.
The ceremony was held at the State House in Abuja shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting.
The permanent secretaries were selected to fill existing and impending vacancies in some states and geo-political zones within the top administrative cadre of the Civil Service of the Federation.
So, you've probably heard the big news - President Tinubu has launched a brand new Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, along with a special committee to help get it up and running.
The goal we hear is to tackle those stubborn food security issues and finally bring some peace to the longstanding farmers-herders crisis.
But, as you can imagine, not everyone is thrilled about this move. There are questions, concerns, and even some controversy swirling around it.

As a loyal supporter of Tinubu, I express my concern: is a separate Ministry of Livestock truly necessary? Wouldn't a Directorate of Livestock under the Ministry of Agriculture be more efficient, streamlining resources and efforts? I believe the President's decision stems from misguided advice. It's a shame and an embarrassment. The Ministry of Agriculture is capable of managing livestock. Let's address the real issue - land grabbing by Fulani herders who disrespect fellow citizens. I urge the government to enact laws protecting farmers' and herders' rights, resolving their disputes.
New ministry is not needed. I can't believe that he is saying Tinubu duplicated Buhari initiative on livestock instead of just retooling it. These people eh. Wicked heartless individuals.
This is nuisance in it's criminalities, a clueless set of people.
I WANT TO UNDERSTAND HOW THIS PROGRAM WILL IMPACT IMMIADIATELY ON THE ONGOING CRISIS BETWEEN FARMERS AND HERDERS. THERE IS A NEED TO PRECRIBE SERIOUS PENALTIES ON OPEN GRAZING FOR ALL LIVE STOCKS. I BELEIVE THIS IS A LONG TIME PROGRAM TO BRING VALUE TO THE SECTOR. BUT TO LOCAL HELPLESS FARMERS THIS WILL NOT DELIVER IMMIDIATE IMPACT.
At the end of Tinubu's 8 years in office Nigeria will be left with more than 100 ministries.
It is the way to go, criminality can be dealt it and earness what the sector can offer the nation
