I've had the same cross bow for 12 years and have taken numerous deer with it. 20 inch carbons and 100grain spitfire broadheads deadly combination. Anything past 35 yards it loses its punch .
Great review and thanks for the brilliant safety advice... as one dad to another.. you've got it well sorted... my youngest son is 27 now so I do miss the early teen years... it's on to grandchildren for me now.... keep up the good work.. and thanks again regards Dave..
Hilarious! Even as a safety conscious former archer I never thought about it like this. You sir are absolutely correct. Dont get your digits inside the death-triangle. I have not fired my new crossbow yet, but if I still have all my digits in ten years time, well, that is in large part due to your safety advice. Thank you immensely. I wish you and your family the absolute best.
I have bought 4 or5 Jaguar Recurce Crossbows for my kids and a friend. They are a great bow for the price. My 14 year old daughter can put 5 bolts in a 2" circle at 40 yards.
That moment with your son is what makes this crazy ride worth it for you i bet! )) You looked so proud of him. )) Just keep you eyes on god, the ultimate prep!
good shooting wee man . This is priceless to watch pure father , son bonding which I could only dream of having with my son . I'd love to be able to bond with my boy like this . Great video guys and thanks for sharing this with us .
Thanks for the videos these gave me confidence I wasn't doing anything wrong, also thanks for not dry firing it when stringing like all the other videos seem to do lol
You brought back a lot of memories from when I was a kid with my dad and my grandpa that's awesome it was my great-uncle that taught me how to shoot a recurve and my dad taking the time to show me how to make our own arrows because they were hard to come by cuz we had to use wooden arrows at the time and I'm 61 now and it's just really awesome to see what you're doing and I hope like heck you get a deer this year young man that would be just the cat's meow
#BurningRiverBushcraft thanks buddy you've helped me so much I've only got one an was a bit overwhelmed although I knew I'd get there but was worried about safety So Massive Thanks and hope you an you're Son have a great time , I'm a target shooting only guy my self but what others like 👍 is up too them 👍 🎉🎉🎉
Just got one of these today. Red dot didn't come with a battery, but I had a proper size on hand. Out in the sun it completely vanished so I took it off and used the "iron" sights. Still grouped pretty good at 20 yards offhand. Didn't expect to get the stated 245 fps, but was hoping for about 230 fps. Supplied bolts over the chrony only hit 217 fps. Got a cheap scope ordered off ebay and I'll go from there. For $89 and free shipping, I'm not complaining.
I have just bought the jaguar 175lb crossbow I am waiting in it arriving in the post. This will be my first bow I am also considering buying either a compound bow or a recieve bow too. Those little hogs everyone uses for target practice are expensive . Nice video.
thanks for showing how to use the cable properly on the ends. mine didn't show or say to. I figured it out with some trial and error. I should have watched this. having the Barnett version 175lb identical basically so I probably wouldn't have found this.
Today, after a long search, I also received a Jaguar1. I thought that if a Crossbow is already well over 10 years old and still on the market, then it simply can't be bad. The price wasn't even the deciding factor. I'm almost surprised that there is such a good crossbow for very little money that isn't a mini toy. The only thing I had to rework was the cut-out for the throwing arm, because there was still a burr in there that was in the way. Assembly was very easy, and to be honest, the crossbow is surprisingly quiet for its power. The only thing I will change is the RedDot, I just can't get used to the 3 red dots. Ok, it's my (old) eyes, so I'll swap it for a scope I still have left. I'll give it a try and see if it works better with a scope. I use 20‘’ carbon arrows with a total weight of 400 grain. It seems to me that these arrows fly more accurately than the slightly shorter 16 inch ones. When I change the string for the first time, I will see if other end caps fit on the limb so that it is easier to remove the auxiliary string. A better hit pattern than with the upgrade kit of the Adder RX130 to 160lbs at a distance of 40 metres. So I am almost perfectly happy. Your two videos about the Jaguar have really helped me a lot, thank you for that.
you think this is better than the Adder? I suppose they are totally different in every aspect apart from a string powers them. I'm considering an Adder or the R9 or RX. But also thought a simple bow like the Jaguar would be just as good in reality
@@wad6216 The Adder R9 or RX ist easier to cock, ist very quick to reload. The Jaguar ist for strong men, you musst pull 175 lbs with your hands. The cocking-rope halft this weight in ~80-85 kg
On the right side of the red dot there is a dial at the bottom of the sight mount. Left side top to bottom 8,7,6 right side top to bottom 2,3,4. Can you tell me what these are for?
At 76 years old, I have lost a bit of muscle mass and I am unable to cock the crossbow. Normally, one can get a cocking mechanism to assist with cocking the crossbow but the crossbow has no way to attach any cocking device. So one will have to alter the stock in order to use a cocking device. Anyway, I figured out a much easier way to install the bowstring that does not require the stringer cable. To do this, I removed the top off a small work table made with 2 x 6" boards and 4 x 4" legs. The distance between the sides was a bit less than the length of the bow. I clamped the table legs down to the floor, set the bow between the sides with the sock pointing up, and put a 2 x 4 in the stirrup. I then pried up on the other end of the 2 x 4 which pulled the crossbow down and bowed the bow enough to easily attach the bowstring. This crossbow is totally useless for a youth because he will have to run to his dad for help cocking the bow.
Good to see you getting your son into shooting (I have many fond memories of the times I spent out shooting with my own father) With proper training it can teach many things useful in life such as discipline, concentration, respect for safety and hopefully also respect for nature and the creatures you hunt. 'Must admit I "hunt" targets these days :-), with practice the humble Jaguar can be very accurate over pretty respectable distances. One thing though, will you be loading the bow for your son? A very high draw-weight for a youngster. Thanks for sharing.
Hi sorry to pester you on a 7 year old video lol. I have just followed your vid after some terrible boxed instructions and they helped a lot but when I pressed the trigger to set the string, it hasnt rested on both sides of one of the plastic bits on the limb if that makes sense. Its so tense so I am struggling to sort it out. Any advice? I don't know what to do, this is my first crossbow. Thanks by the way for an informative vid! This bit seems to be my own fault entirely
Hey got one of theese my bolt sits a bit high off the rail at the field tip end when fully knocked into the string this normal? Coz I been shooting it a little forward if the string with no problems and seems more accurate
Make sure your fletching is in the groove. The bolt must be in contact with the string. If there is a gap between the bolt and the string it is similar to dry firing.
Dude I jusr opened mine..am I a sissy or what?? I cant pull the string back far enough to cook it. Look im a smaller guy but ive been a lineman and ive worked paving for 20 some years..im not exactly weak at least I didnt think so. What the heck am I doing wrong???
Michael Birolin The target was only about 15 yards away. We found the distance that the dot on top of a deers back drop into the kill zone and that is our max range. Thanks for watching
I don't wax the string that often. If the portion of the string that rides in the rail looks different than rest of the string, I will wax it. The more important maintenance item is the keep the rail lubed. I add lube any time the the rail is no longer slick. A dry rail will drastically reduce string life.
The main thing I wanted to see was how to cock it and you didnt even film that! The instructions manual is utter horseshit and was hoping to see how it's done. I'm afraid to cock it since when I pull back, the bow starts bending like crazy and I'm afraid that I'll break it.
first video was amazing and helpful, this one is useless, you do not show how magically the cocking string went from 2 notches to 1 and the other string is applied, i now have a string permanent on the gun and cannot release at all, and gun is useless, wtf??>
@@BurningRiverBushcraft my friend fixed it, the second video was confusing, you did not show in detail the string placement is all i meant, no ill will, thank you, the first video was amazing, thank you..it is all perfect now, the trigger assembly was just jammed, thank you!

Probably

Without seeing it, I wouldn't be much help. Are you dealing with a lot of stored energy. If in doubt, try to get ahold of the manufacturer.

The 20 inch one's will work good to just like 16inch. In your crssbow. Trust me
I use both

Not sure, try the manufacturer. You can make one it's not hard
