I want to try building a "Downtown Deco" kit as they look really cool. I've built Tichy flatcar kits, Walthers kits and scratch built my own buildings as well as 3 card stock models. After fitting the windows and doors I would airbrush them before assembly. I just purchased a brand new A-proxo knife set. I never use X-acto knives as nothing is ever exact, only approximate. I also make my own rust powder out of 0000 steel wool soaked in vinegar. Cheers from eastern TN
Did I miss thickness/size of L beam you used for bracing. Thanks, informative build. Working on my first downtown deco hydro cal, first time bar. Second one is Lou’s Liquor store.
Well, you're like me then. I think a lot of videos spend too much time on intros. I try to keep my videos really fast paced but it is difficult to find the perfect balance and you can't please everyone.
I agree with you. I tried several early on and I really don't like them. Although I do think Fat Lou's Liquor (another video) had some charm. I prefer wood. If something has to be cast, I prefer resin.
The onscreen instructions are a great way to display.
Wonderful kit. Wonderful music.
Very atmospheric! It has tempted me to have a go at this kit.

Great video. I am giving these type of buildings a shot in N scale. Wish me luck!
Very good job on this one. Thanks for making this very informative video. 👍
yours came out quite nicely. I've been kind of frustrated with hydrocal. I appreciate all your tips.
Thank you. Glad I could be helpful.
I've always dreamed about Downtown Deco kits but never been able to pull the trigger on it.
they do have simple "first-timers" kits. Give them a try.
Great music and nice tutorial on building Downtown Deco kit ... could you building Luci's Tattoo (if you haven't already)?
Thanks again for reply
Thank you :)

3/16 inch L beams I think.
Haha, Overlook Hotel, J. Torrance!
Very impressive. Well done, but what about interior lighting and people?
Thanks for the positive comments. I have not gotten around to learning how to do lighting yet. Some people may be appearing in future projects.
@asd asx Where did you find the little carpenters square. I would love to have one like that!!
I think I have had that since college, so probably Ace hardware or Sears. You should check out Micromark.com. They have some nice squares.
I appreciate the video, always like to see a preview if kits. Maybe next time don't show us the unwrapping. I almost turned it off at that point.

Do you build for others?
I can’t stand Hydrocal models…they are too fragile and don’t even come close to wood models…to me ..,they are a solution…looking for a problem..

Lovely work, but if I may suggest, streaks of wash from the years of being rained on...
