  • Hello everyone and welcome to a very special video. Today was the first time a class 777 ran on the Merseyrail network while the class 507/508s were still running up and down the network. The train left Kirkdale deopt at 18:38 and arrived at Bootle New Strand around 18:57. The trains feature very advanced systems such as a sliding step that is level with the platforms at every station making boarding for passengers a lot more accessible, especially for those with disabilities and wheelchairs. They also feature more audible announcements which are a lot easier to understand compared to the current fleet of 43 year old 507s and 42 year old 508s. This was a very lucky sight to see indeed so I hope you all enjoy the video. Take care and stay safe!

    This is a great video of the 777. You are so lucky to see it on test, I’m hoping to see one on test for myself at some point in the future. It’s nice to see some peps in the video too! 👍😃

      Thank you very much Ned! Maybe we might be lucky to see them out and about on our travels at some point in the near future, very glad you enjoyed the video mate! Take care and stay safe! 😀👍

    Cool that’s my local stop. I can’t wait for these new trains. The old trains are a nightmare to get off and on when it’s busy so hopefully these new trains will but more suitable.

      The new trains will be a major improvement to what currently runs on the network. With regard to boarding and leaving the new trains, they have a sliding step which is level with the platforms so boarding will be easier for passengers and people in wheelchairs and other disabilities. Another bonus is the trains are fully air conditioned to so you won't have to open windows anymore to allow ventilation into the train

      @@harrystrains3227 and another thing I like is separate sections for bikes and wheelchair users. It’s really annoys me when I see cyclist dumping their bikes in wheelchair spaces when a person in a wheelchair or a parent with a child in a pram needs the space.

      Oh I know. Its such a bug bare for passengers, thankfully the new trains also feature wider spaces for passengers to walk down the train and certain spaces are wider so passengers with prams can fit into that space and prevent the aisles been blocked.

      @@harrystrains3227 yes I noticed that. When the old trains get busy I never really felt comfortable or safe standing in them skinny aisles.

      @@harrystrains3227 Ur welcome. ☺️ One question, are the Class 507 and Class 508 trains coupled together to make a 6 car train because every train apart from the Class 777 that I've seen in this video has two different liveries on each coupled up unit?

    • @harrystrains3227
      @harrystrains3227  3 года назад +1

      @@joshuahalla.k.a.controlla6333 yes class 507/508 units are completely coupling compatible. 507s were originally built for Merseyside between 1978 and 1980. They have always been 3 car sets and they replaced the 502s on northern line services. Between 1979 and 1980 the 508s were built but originally had 4 coaches due to them having an additional compressor in the trailer car. However they had loads of problems operating out of London Waterloo on southern reigon commuter services so they were replaced by the class 455s in the 1980s. When Merseyrail took the 508s into their hands, they had to remove a trailer car so they could also be 3 car sets. The 455/7 units took the 508 trailer cars and they can still be seen today. When merseyrail got the 508 fleet they had to undergo minor changes so they could be coupled to the sister fleet of 507s. The 508s also feature an additional compressor in the middle car (TSO) as well in the driving car (DMSO) A end only. The B car (BDMSO) however contains the motor alternators. The same applies to the 507s but as they were built as 3 car sets originally, they only need the 1 compressor in the DMSO car. The other reason the 508s have the additional compressor is because they are of an older design and much more weaker compared to the 507 compressors which are more modern, hence why 508 interior lights go out when the train sparks and enters 3rd rail section gaps. I hope this is really helpful for you bud! 😀👍

      @@harrystrains3227 That was really helpful. Didn't expect all that information about the Class 507 and the Class 508 trains. 😂 Thanks. ☺️ From the platforms, how can u tell the difference between the Class 507 and the Class 508 trains? This is very similar to the 1995 Stock on the Northern Line is never than the 1996 Stock on the Jubilee Line even tho the ones on the Northern line seem older than the ones on the Jubilee line, the Jubilee line trains were actually built in 1997 and the Northern line trains were built in 1998 with the slightly newer traction equipment in London on the London Underground. ☺️

      @harrystrains3227  3 года назад +1

      @@joshuahalla.k.a.controlla6333 with regards to the difference of the way they look, they are identical, the only differences are the specifications of the train and equipment they have. And about the 1995/1996 stock you are correct. The 1995 stock trains feature the same motors as a juniper such as the class 458, 460 and 334s. However the motors on the 1996 are an older traction system from Metro Cammel and the same motors are used on the class 466 and 465/2 and 465/9

      I was unsure about the front at first as well but I've grown to like it now. In terms of guards though, I am not 100% sure on that sorry. I have been told they are staying and then there not staying so its not completely finalized yet. However I am up for the guards staying on trains because it will be much safer for passengers rather than CCTV overlooking stuff on the trains. Thanks for watching!
