    If you experience pain when speaking your throat feels strained when talking or if you are looking for muscle tension dysphonia treatment, watch this video. People who are dealing with MTD, often do muscle tension dysphonia exercises or even muscle tension dysphonia massage, but they do not consider this one important factor affecting their voice. This is especially important if you are dealing with muscle tension dysphonia pain. The muscle tension dysphonia recovery time may be different for each person but MTD voice disorder is not a life sentence. It is important to address dysphonia symptoms but it is equally important to address the emotions that come up during MTD voice therapy. MTD voice exercises are only a partial answer.

    After a year of vocal issues, I discovered that an asthma inhaler that I had started just prior to my issues was behind my voice problems.(It has an "after market" side effect of hoarseness.) Unfortunately, it was not associated, and thus overlooked because I also had a respiratory virus at about the same time. My voice is WAY better. I'm so thankful to have discovered this.

      I am sorry to hear that it took a year to figure out what was causing your voice issues. But I am happy to hear that you are doing better.

      I am so very sorry to hear that your voice issues are affecting your mental health. You are not alone! Our voice is a part of our identity and any issues with the voice can affect how we feel as people. Talk to your doctor, find a laryngologist and voice therapist who can support you on your healing journey.

    It feels like I have to push so much air through my throat to speak. I get tired easily, and have trouble speaking up and projecting my voice. It only makes it worse when people tell me they can't hear me and I need to speak up. It's so embarrassing.

    I've been a telephone customer service representative for 14 years, and I just started to have vocal issues. Ironically, it was shortly after I watched videos about vocal warm ups, to make sure I don't hurt my voice. It's been getting worse, and is now at the point where as soon as a call comes in at work, my throat tightens to the point of almost not being able to speak. As soon as I'm out of the call, it's much better. Every time. I've seen a doctor, an ENT and a speech therapist. My ENT said my vocal folds are fine and I was treated for silent reflux. It did nothing. My ENT said there's nothing he can do and recommended a psychiatrist. Any thoughts?

      I am not sure if you saw my videos on voice and pain (I made several videos on this topic). Pain is very complex and chronic pain does not necessarily reflect "damage" in the place where you feel pain. Perception of pain is affected by many factors, including our thoughts and emotions (plus many other factors). That is the reason why your ENT is sending you to speak to a psychiatrist or another professional in the realm of "the mind". Here is a resource, which explains how we perceive pain and what affects our perception of pain: www.vocalfreedomsystem.com/pain At the bottom of the page, you will also find a technique (somatic tracking) that is very helpful for many people. Of course, there are no quick cures, this is a process and takes time. Let me know if you have questions.

    I got these symptoms but instead of pain in my throat it’s pain in my stomach, like my muscles in my stomach get super tight and I gotta prepare to talk with it and for that reason when people talk to me sometimes I delay before I speak bc my muscles in my stomach are tightening up trying to get prepared to speak, also it stops me from speaking louder a lot of times and makes me run out of breath quick from talking, what do I do? This has been happening since I was little and it keep getting worse, not really pain when swallowing tho, do u think I have this? I have the symptoms that I said super severe, ppl always say “put some base in ur voice” but I literally can’t, the muscles in my stomach won’t let me at times, please help!

      Different people process stress differently. Some people have tightness in their throat, some in their stomachs. The reality is that anxiety and stress manifests in the body. There are many approaches you can try to remedy that. I would ask your doctor to send you to speak to a psychologist or find a similar specialist. They have the skills and knowledge to deal with this kind of issue. I wish you all the best.

    But what is the solution? Could you help me, please?
    After having tough days full of stress and tension and losing my voice because of the nodule and two weeks of not speaking, now I'm even more stressed to use my voice. I am a teacher and have to use my voice every day. It used to be okay before since. I am a singer too, I know some vocal techniques for singing and having warm-ups but now I think because of the tension, nothing works. would you help me please how to get rid of this tension?

      you have nodules where ?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Год назад

      I am sorry to hear that your voice is causing you troubles. Vocal nodules respond really well to voice therapy. A voice therapist can also help you manage your emotions around your voice (of course, you are worried about your voice!). So I highly suggest that you contact you ENT and ask for a referral to see a voice therapist.

      If your emotions and thoughts are affecting the functioning of your voice, you can speak to a voice therapist who has special training in this area. Some people find help when working with a psychotherapist. Knowing how to deal with your negative thoughts is part of a healing journey for voice problems (of course, together with some voice therapy or exercises that help eliminate tension).
