This part of the Old Testament was the hardest part of the Bible for me to accept when I first came to Christ over 40 years ago. What I finally figured out was to put it in the perspective of Ephesians 6:10-17. Dr. Brown mentioned the child sacrifice that was common in Canan and all the other gross rebellion and sin practiced at that time. In the Spiritual Warfare perspective, the Cananites were completely given over to sin (Satan), worshipping Baal and Mollech and who knows what other false gods. Consider that those false gods were actually demons, and the culture was completely given over to them, all the way down to the babies that they routinely placed alive in the fire, so they killed them themselves anyway. Add into that the possibility of the seed of the Nephtalim flowing thru their veins and Israel faced a mix at least as volitile as Noah faced. Then compare that to the demoniac that Jesus encountered at Garasene. That legion of demons begged Jesus to send them into the nearby herd of pigs so that they could avoid having to go back into the abyss. Why? Maybe because those demons could not stay in this world or dimension if they did not inhabit a physical body? If that is the case, then the reason returning Israel was to destroy every living thing was to eliminate demonic activity in the Promised Land. Simple as that.
And Psalm 106 describes the end result of that failure.
I just take the Bible for what it says. God may explain to me this and all the other questions I have some day in eternity, or He may not. His ways are higher than mine, and I am good with that. I just trust in Jesus.

I did a little bible study/reading/examination on Mark 5, the demoniac about 3 years ago. I'd love to know your thoughts on it if you feel interested in checking it out.
Now, for this passage in scripture that Dr. Brown is handling, yeah its a tough one, but God didn't hide it from us.

Bro,you can't take the Bible for what it say..Because than literal lamb saved you..and many symbolic meaning you need to take for granted..
The whole Scripture is to show you something..And 1st thing is that man didn't know God. They all believed that there is higher power, but they mind's made images of God that they than have worshiped..
And man, because of his fallen state portrait God that want to be obeyed,or he would not give rain,or bring some catastrophe, if they don't do..
They in fact made God in their own image..
While True God didn't even commanded burnt offerings or sacrifices, but jews saw from others, and thought, well we need to do it also..
And if you just think about it,you have others ,like Mayan,Inca, they had no knowledge of other civilisations, they did it also..
Same today...Man believe again that God will burn people in hell...Same as those before. Even after He came and show who torture, kill, and who rise to life..They again believe in baal, not God of the Bible..Christians my man...Do you really think if you worship someone who will burn his children is Jesus Christ?
God of the Bible made peace with man, they still believe in religious manipulation
God made peace by cross...Cross will never be removed,so peace will never end... people just blaspheme God,and are enemies of the cross..
      Isa 54:10
      For the mountains shall depart
      And the hills be removed,
But My kindness shall not depart from you,
NOR SHALL My covenant of peace BE REMOVED,”
Says the LORD, who has mercy on you.
What happened in Isaiah 53 that cause peace to come?
      Col 1:20
and by Him TO RECONCILE ALL things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

God has freewill to think & do good or evil ... but .... God chose to be Holy ... forever & ever.
There is only God ... and God does not procreate God.
But God decided He wanted to become a Father of actual Children ( flesh of my flesh, blood of my blood) ... and so ..... the Angel of God created Heaven, Hell, Universe & Earth, billions of Angels and Adam & Eve ... with a body & soul ... and freewill ... to go forth & MULTIPLY ... and live with God forever.
Are you starting to see how God .... will become an actual Father of Children ( with the same flesh & blood)?
The Angel of God .... knew it would take 7 x 1000 years ... to save the Children of God ... from the Children of Man (Adam) ... and ... God remaking Hiim ... the first Child of God ... with a body & soul ... becoming the Son of God.
When you accept Jesus as Lord & Savior ... your sins are forgiven ... and you give God (FAther, Spirit) permission ... to remake you ... and Child of God ( Jesus) ... as they remade the Angel of God ... into the Son of God.
Only God creates Life, and He gave Mankind the ability to procreate God's Children.
And the Angels in Heaven ... do not marry or have sex .. and definitely can not make life.
There is marriage or sex in Heaven as everybody will be Holy just like God.
God's Children ... will come from Mankind procreating over 7 x 1000 years.
And the current year is 5994. Jesus returns in 6 years time ... to rule over sinful Mankind for the last 1000 years.
The Sons of God are simply Angels & Men. And only Men would marry and procreate with woman. Demons would rape, Men, woman & children .. not want to get married and raise a family. lol.
The Children of God ... call the Son of God ... my Father & God.
The Son of God ... who was originally the Angel of God ... calls God ... my Father & God.
This is how God became an actual Father of Children ( flesh of my flesh, blood of my blood).

❤I truly appreciate your honesty and sober understanding of the Scriptures... I would like to share my honest 'opinion' about '''a possibility''' of our existence,, with the intent of expanding your understanding of what may be so.... I came to realize at some point, not to long ago,,, that it is impossible for myself to understand or know how 'Intelligent', God the Almighty Creator and Sustainer of everything Is... It was then that I realized that God being the Knower of all,, of both past and 'future',,, that I began to connect the dots of 'possibility'... First one would have to believe that He has a plan... Secondly one could then speculate a 'possible' objective... My speculation is God's Loving and '''Just''' Nature,,, has been 'challenged' by the prideful 'angelic being(s),, within the safeguard of 'taking for granted ' the loving nature of God,,, and possibly the Justice of capability to bring an '''end''' to such a '''being'''... Thirdly,,, I could only conclude that Eve's deception in the garden of eden,,, played right into God's Plan,,, in 'Allowing' everything to be 'Intelligently' and predictably carried out, until the 'Objective' is complete,,, and Justice can then ''Be'''.…..... Now I hesitate to share this view with anyone,, as I am still in personal, spiritual and mental warfare with the 'adversary',,, and cannot know wether my thoughts are for good, or not so good results with 'sharing' them... In the name of Jesus Christ our True Lord and Savior, may anyone who may read this realize it only to be human thought, and not from Scripture,, where the real Truth can be found, Amen?,,, Amen, amen...❤

Edom is the final enemy against Israel, and edomites rule the world today. They are also pretending to be jews because history clearly states they have assimilated into jews. so now jews are the scapegoat even tho they are the biggest enemy of the elites

    1 Samuel 15
    Saul Defeats the Amalekites
1One day Samuel said to Saul, “It was the LORD who told me to anoint you as king of his people, Israel. Now listen to this message from the LORD! 2This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies has declared: I have decided to settle accounts with the nation of Amalek for opposing Israel when they came from Egypt. 3Now go and completely destroya the entire Amalekite nation-men, women, children, babies, cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and donkeys.”
4So Saul mobilized his army at Telaim. There were 200,000 soldiers from Israel and 10,000 men from Judah. 5Then Saul and his army went to a town of the Amalekites and lay in wait in the valley. 6Saul sent this warning to the Kenites: “Move away from where the Amalekites live, or you will die with them. For you showed kindness to all the people of Israel when they came up from Egypt.” So the Kenites packed up and left.
7Then Saul slaughtered the Amalekites from Havilah all the way to Shur, east of Egypt. 8He captured Agag, the Amalekite king, but completely destroyed everyone else. 9Saul and his men spared Agag’s life and kept the best of the sheep and goats, the cattle, the fat calves, and the lambs-everything, in fact, that appealed to them. They destroyed only what was worthless or of poor quality

You seem to suggest the Psalms were sometimes written in the persons own hand suggesting their feels are coming through. That would make those Psalms man’s word and not God’s. Holy men if God spake as their were move by the Holy Spirit. If one changes one part if scripture one has to think what else is he changing. Here is the LORD commanding Saul regarding the Amalekites:
1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord.
2 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
    -1 SAMUEL 15:1-3
Saul disobeyed the LORD by not carrying out the full wrath of God. This displeased the LORD:
9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
10 Then came the word of the Lord unto Samuel, saying,
11 It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the Lord all night.
    -1 SAMUEL 15:9-11
Later on, Samuel carried out the will of God by killing Agag in front of the LORD:
32 Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.
33 And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.
    -1 SAMUEL 15:32-33
When the LORD directs His people to kill anyone and everyone of a certain tribe or whatever, the people of God need to obey utterly what God commands. Unlike men, God has access to everyone’s thoughts and motives, so God has perfect judgment. While the LORD bestows His love upon thousands of generations, He executes His wrath upon the guilty to the third and fourth generation:
“Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.”
    -EXODUS 34:7
During the tribulation period, God will open up the place where His weapons are stored and says to utterly destroy those in Babylon (see JER 50:25-26). Remember Saul's disobedience! Jesus spoke a parable that occurs during the tribulation period when He said to bring before Him someone who didn’t want Jesus as their King and slay that person in the presence of Jesus (see LUKE 19:27). During the tribulation period, the bodies will be piled up in the streets so much so that people will stumble over them (see NAHUM 3:3).
Like it or not, God is a God of love, but He is also a God of wrath. His love is the fiercest love and His wrath is the fiercest wrath. The modern so-called church is totally unprepared for what's coming down the pike. But ready or not, here comes the end of the age. Without apology, the LORD will execute all that He has planned:
13 The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.
14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.
15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.
16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
    -Isaiah 42

God created Mankind ... with freewill ... to think & do good or evil ... and ... to follow & obey God (Father, Son, Spirit) or Man.
And God knew before He created Adam & Eve ... every thought & action ... of every Human Being ... over the next 7 x 1000 years .... which is why God had a 6 day creation and the 7th Day belongs to HIm.
The punishment for sin is death (body & soul). You sin, you must die (body & soul).
Adam & Eve were created perfect ... with freewill ... to procreate Mankind live forever with God ... but if they sin ( break God's law) then they and Mankind will die (body & soul). They freely chose to sin, knowing God is real and the punishment is death .... and they gave all of their descendants corrupted bodies & souls ... where everybody will freely sin ... and must die (body & soul).
But God from the very beginning ... has only wanted Man ... to follow & obey God (Father, Son & Spirit) ... fight your evil nature and do good not evil .... and if you have the faith of Abraham .... you sins will be forgiven through the Messiah (God's only Son) ... and you will be remade perfect just like Adam & Eve ... but this time you will be given a Holy natue ... just like God (Jesus).

You took a couple examples and then excused them off as a matter of interpretation and hyperbolic language.
There are so many more examples and to excuse them all as such is removing the obvious and plain truth right there in plain sight.
    A bit disappointing.
If we can't trust the Word as accurate without having to change all its meaning, it doesn't do much for the confidence and Faith we have in the Word of God.
If the Word offends people, it's not God's fault and He doesn't need anyone to rewrite His Word .
The Goodness of God is not subject to our humanistic and quite selfish understanding of what is good, and that's the main issue here.
We want to think that God thinks and believes like us when we still hold on to so many selfish mindsets.
Good, bad, right, wrong, positive, negative. This is all subjective to one's own understanding and when we feel uncomfortable with God's righteousness not meeting our own selfish definition of edification, we have to twist the Word or enter into doctrines that redefine God as if He changed from the Old to New Testament.
If God commanded to wipe out a wicked people, and not mix with them, then what we see today is clearly the result of them disobeying what God told them, and the Bible clearly explains that.

You can not, but I can show you everything God created in the 6s days of creation. Adam Was a son of God. we are to be sons of Gad the scriptures we can call God Abba Father. The men that is the mature sons are the sons of God . That is not every Christian just like a believer is not a disciple but they can be a disciple, not a saint but a saint can be a son of God. Or is a son am not sure. Paul says to the children I write to you to the sons i write to you but to the fathers I also write to them too. These are all grown-up people. in another scripture, he says you should be teachers but you're still on the milk. of the word . meaning children on mommy's milk. he also says to some to drink of the sincere milk of the word meaning we do not throw out any of God's word. What I am sharing is bread, not milk but it's not meat either. I can share the meat of God's word here. This has already choked them that are not called to the sonship realm the 100-fold ream. Let's go back to angels. Sons of God are the messengers of God the demons are messengers of satan. . When we all die and we all will die one way or the other. we will be messengers of God in the spiritual realm or messengers of satan in the spiritual realm.. So whom will we serve now or later God said we are nothing but a beast of the field like satan their father, without God We will end up with who we serve in this life or the next? Those that chose satan God will turn the mover to a reprobate mind. Meaning they will no longer have the restrainer on them to stop them from manifesting all the evil God stops us from doing in this life. So I explained the present truth that I understand I left a lot up in the air. but I do have answers to any argument people can come up with i just dont want to text any more its too long now.

The Canaanites had Nephilim blood, the spawn of the watchers, they had to be utterly wiped out. It's very simple they weren't fully human. Read Genesis 6.

...but it may be what the Bible teaches us.
Came back to add this because I figured it would get challenged. Genesis 6:1-4 almost comes right out and says that, depending who the "Sons of God" were. That is that Michael Heiser (and others) thing Dr. Brown mentioned.

For Certain. During the ten plagues of Egypt, the magicians of Egypt were able to mimic the miracles up until life was created out of dust: plague number three - when Aaron smote his staff upon the dust of the earth, lice formed upon all the earth and upon man and beast. When the magicians attempted this, they were unable to produce life. For this, they said: This is the finger of YHWH!

In egypt here, alot of children are being demonic i know a 14 year old kid in a neighborhood that stabbed his friend in his neck with a knife for a spliff of weed, i kinda get it, that back then if they where truly demonic and there consciousness of love not developed they could be 1000× worst than what I'm witnessing in here

@@JimSkees1955 The sons of God were those who served God. The very same Hebrew word for sons in Genesis 6:2 is also translated as children in Deuteronomy 14:1 where Moses told the Israelites that they were the children of the LORD their God.
There's no way God would allow a group of creatures to be born part demon and part human who would be doomed from conception without any chance of salvation. God doesn't work that way. That's not what the Bible teaches. We are told not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. The Israelites were warned about mixing with the wicked. We are warned over and over throughout the Bible what is the usual consequences of God's people mixing with the world.

God has power over everything including your life.
God who gives life, is God who can take it.
I don't know why are you laughing about it.
If Egyptian mourned because of the death of their first born, how much more God feel about Israelite that were enslaved.
God feel our suffering, either you believe in Him or Not.
Here is for you, God is sad to see your life too. God wants to save you.
But if you refuse to repent and reject Him, then you will also face the judgement.
Are you gonna say that when you face the judgement is unfair? Yet you have been given a chance to repent, so make use of the time you have.
Do you think God really want to see people die in vain? In suffering?
Why people complain when God conduct the judgment, but refuse to listen when God gives the warning?
We can't fully understand the mind of God. But I believe that God is in control.
If God gives life, then God can also take it.
So make use of the life God has given you.
