- Yooperlites were just discovered recently back in 2017 by Erik Rintamaki. Took him a year or so to figure out what they were but come to find out they are fluorescent sodalite along with some other properties. Being that he is the founder of this special mix of minerals he named them "yooperlites Yooper because that what the people call themselves in the region, and lite, because they light up.
You can find his site at yooperlites.com if you would like to join on his expeditions! Very highly recommended for sure!!!
This is one of the expeditions we took one night and had a blast!!! whaaaaaat! - Развлечения

Eeeek! That whole beach is a rockhound's dream!!!!
Most definitely! Just the "LSA's" alone are enough reason for me to go. (Lake superior agates)
For sure!!! I want them all!!!
Yeah and plus there’s tons of Petoskey stones
Got that damn straight
I would have a truckload of non-glowing rocks too before the night was over!
Yooperlites are fabulous. But some of those baby pink stones. Wow!!
Congrats to Erik Rintamaki for finding such an exciting rock and getting to name it! Wow. Thanks for taking us on the expedition to find some of your own ... that was fun. Thanks for sharing. .... I shared it too.
Thank you!
That’s insane how they light up like that. It’s almost like they’re from another world. This earth gives us the most beautiful things. Thanks Brian and Matrix!
Better still, where do they come from? What's down the bottom of that lake?
Forgive the pessimism a second; -10 bucks says whatever mystical and almost supernatural amazing life, growth, or formations are long destroyed by this disgustingly greedy race... well, not the whole human race, but you get my point. The altruistic of us are far to few, and the egoistic far to many. Now that's out of the way... lol
I too would love to see what wonders lurk beneath that mysterious lake. Wouldn't it be amazing to take a sub down there to find and investigate some old lava tubes or caves that link it to an ocean? The type of wildlife would be unimaginable.
Really cool.

Bryan!!! What a great video!!!!! Thank you for coming out with me and sharing my love of Yooperlites with the world!
They are amazing!! Can they be found in other locations or just that area??? I NEED ONE!!
@@sandiscuriousthings257 anywhere in the great lakes region that glaciers took stones.
Hmmm, I live in southeast Texas but I am near the big thicket which is where a glacier came through and melted. Maybe they are there as well?
@@sandiscuriousthings257 I doubt they would be in Texas but there are tons of fluorescent minerals in the United States. Get a light and go look. Ya never know until you try. I sell lights at www.yooperlites.com
It's so fun seeing yooperlites featured on one of my favorite youtube channels!
It's funny how I'm a Yooper and just found out about these last week. I need to take my kids for a ride now and get some uv lights.
This randomly showed up in my recommendations and it's making me want to start collecting again. So beautiful. Happily subscribed!

Michigan is the place to be for some beautiful rocks. Just another reason to plan a rock hunting trip😉. I would have been picking up rocks left and right. Awesome find
These are simply amazing! There is so much beauty on our planet if people would only take the time like you do to look for it. Because most of the time it's right in front of our face. Thank you so very much for sharing these are simply out of this world 🌍

as a native of Michigan, I never knew!! those are awesome!!
As a Minnesota native I never knew either! I wonder how many are on the beach in Duluth?

I remember swimming in Little Prescisle frequently as a kid🤗. And after one day complaining about the rocky beaches realizing how beautiful and awesome most the rocks were. My mom finally got an answer as to why i kept insisting to go out a little further/deeper than she liked. She was *not* used to that. As in the red river, much warmer water, i was spooked from a fish nibbling my toe. And she had no problems with me staying near😅. I told her there was a peaceful feeling out there, farther out. I asked about it being from the water and she said it sounded like i was speaking of the earth. She explained things to me about the surface and beneath. Probably the first time i made a "metaphysical" connection about stones. Or one that had actually became pesonal to me based on my experience. My middle name is Jade, so i was familiar with the concept.
Thanks for sharing the video guys 🤗🤗
Wow what a great story!! Thanks for sharing 🙌⚒💎💜
That is an awesome and brilliant discovery! Great video and video subject.
I’ve never been crystal hunting or geode hunting but have always been fascinated with stones of any kind, 68 now and a little old to start but sure do love your videos!!

I live in the Granite Belt, a fantastic rock hounding area in south east Queensland in Australia. You can find tons of cool rocks including clear and blue topaz, low quality agates and enormous smoky quartz (up to a foot long in some places, no joke). I have even been fossicking for sapphires and opals away a few hours away from my place. But if I lived in America anywhere near Lake Superior, I would drop everything and go to look for these incredible yooperlites! I love these so much!
I reckon they should be given the nickname "night opal", because they looks so much like the orange glows you can get from opals.
Lachlan Smith I LOVE that as a trade name

Oh the tabletops I could make with those! What an amazing artist Mother Nature is!
This inspired me so much that I wrote a poem! What should the title be??
I found a galaxy on the beach and had to take it home!
It was beautiful and speckled, and I swear to you it shone!
Under the autumn-moonlight I tried counting all its stars,
As I held it tightly in my hand, and climbed into the car...
I raised it to the window and I squinted both my eyes,
Because I’ve heard the poets say that galaxies are planets in disguise...
I held my breath as a shooting star flew right under my nose...
This galaxy inside my hands is living, I suppose!
And as the sky above me darkened and my own stars came into view,
I closed my eyes, wondering, if someone’s holding my galaxy too
That was Great, man! 👍👍👍
My young son loves hearing poems, I read yours aloud and he clapped very eagerly and giggled.

So cool! And Matrix is getting big! My dog always thinks Lake Superior is playing with her when the waves splash up. 😉
These are crazy beautiful!
Us government: *dumps radioactive waste in the lake*
RUclipsr 50 years later: *wow glowing rocks*
Wow.
So sad. Don't eat em or sleep with em!
I seen a video a while back, where a woman picked up a what she thought was a pretty rock at one of the beaches she went with her family. And she put it in her pocket. A little while later she felt this awful pain where she put the rock in her pocket. It ended up burning her so badly that she ended up in the ER. And she had 3 degree burns on her leg and need surgery. FOLKS, be careful what you pick up.
🤣 🤣 🤣
I was thinking about that because uranium ore glows under uv light. It would be nice to test it with a geiger counter
Wow! They are some beautiful rocks. Who would ever have guessed they existed
Absolutely beautiful!
Those yooperlites are so cool. Good find!
I have never seen so many gorgeous rocks on one shore in my life!!!
Whaaaat about all that green , and Chalcedony andxagates, and jasper laying there too! Lol. I would, have more, than i could, carry in 10 minutes. Here in NC you have to dig deep and long to find anything worth keeping.
Vermont is tough, too. I've spent years with little to show. But, I do have a few nice pieces. Some of the world's best garnet nearby, but not allowed in the area to look for it.😒
Teresa Salmon walking the beach during the day is a trap! I could stay for hours! You can only pick 25 pounds a year, so you have to be selective. Anything round or egg shaped catches my eye too. I’m sunk!
my pockets would be full!
You said it.
SuperKasper333 rr
Those are really neat. About the 3rd or 4th one from last one that you picked up there was a smaller glowing purple rock about, and I'm guessing, 8 to 10 inches above the one you took. I was hoping you'd see it and get it but that didn't happen. 😥
Alright I went back and looked again. It was at like 10:19 in the video. If you're looking on a phone you need to go fullscreen to see it.
I have to re-look, oh my goodness
You should try cracking one of them open to see if it's more clear in the middle and make a glowing geode.
Same on the inside as they are on the outside. Pattern runs all the way through.
So the Green glowing rocks at Fukashima should be called Fukalites?😂👍
LOL
LOL, How funny.
🤣
LOL 😂
They are amazing...great video thanks for sharing! ✌️
A floor made of that in the garage would be so cool 😘

Somewhere along the shores of Lake superior is a Cliffside that fluoresces at night and we have not yet discovered it.Fabulous! My father, grand and great grandparents worked the copper mines of the UP, after immigrating from tin country in Cornwall GB. The Lake Superior round stones are fascinating! Congratulations on your discovery!

I was thinking along those lines myself. The landscaping possibilities are intriguing. I wonder if the site of the source rock is known?
@@charleskunkle7029 I'm sure they are along a big part of the North shore. Those glaciers spread stuff out far and wide a long with the ice on the lake every year then breaks up and carries rocks all over.
Uv may interfere with flowering cycle😝 infact
