- This was an INCREDIBLE day and NIGHT of rockhounding all through the mine spoils and beaches of Michigan. We found SUCH a variety of things including chlorite replaced garnets, celestine crystals with calcite, pyrite (or chalcopyrite), staurolite, black tourmaline, serpentine, yooperlites (fluorescent sodalite), a few fossils and a ton of other incredible things. I have to say, just because of the sheer variety of things found and the intensity of this adventure, it has to be one of my favorites yet.

Hit that thumbs up button if you liked this video! Love you guys and hope you're all staying safe and healthy.
i am sorry dude but u should leave enough for other people to find some
You might wanna rename this series "look at what Bree found" ;) Loving it!
*Bri 😉
@@-Slinger- lol, and here I went "I wonder how that name might be spelled in English?" and then it turns out I could have just spelled it as it sounds in Swedish instead... darn you languages! * gestures angrily at that language gods *
Yep bri carried tbh
Hi! At 24:30 you were wondering what the blue glowing Rock is and my wife loves collecting those on our Sodalite hunts. That mineral is called Feldspar and you've probably seen some that glow purplish as well as blue, very cool! When you were at the creek and right before you found the unakite, that red velvet glow on the stones was algae, it's weird but algae glows red under UV light
Cool!
I don't know a lot about the matrix, crystals, garnets, chlorite, etc, but I do understand passion and you two have passion for what you do. Great job!!!
@16:23, is that aquamarine? Nah, I watched the rest of the video, but it IS lovely! LOL, those spiders are guarding those Yooperlites for you.
My father who was watching you believes the blue crystals are aquamarines
It does look like aquamarine! Lucky
Yeah, looks like aquamarine. I've been watching a series on RUclips about Mt. Antero aquamarine mining and it looks the same.
those arent aquamarines. ive rockhounded in northern Michigan. If there were aquamarine laying around like that, the place would be swamped with prospectors staking claims.
Love how Brie plays to the camera. She missed her calling as an actress. Always great to see you teamed up with friends. Oh man, I have been missing so much on my treks. Thanks for sharing and inspiring us to “hunt” too.
My daughter & I just love watching you & Bri in your adventures! Love the way you identify & photograph different things in nature and how you respect all creatures! Your photography is just beautiful! We've even made our own "pizza sandwiches"! Keep on hunting!
I believe the crystals are aquamarine crystals. For the Blue Rock get in touch with Michigan rocks. He's awesome and knows a ton of information. I love watching his videos also.
Rob (Michigan Rocks) was just down here doing some fossil hunting with us in Florida! Super nice guy. Thanks for watching the vid.
Wow. the blue crystal can be Aquamarines. That's the jackpot if so. Several hundreds of Dollars.
Lol you didn’t even finish the video
I love the yooperlites
Aquamarine is what the little blue crystals are they awesome
That shore looks like an alien planet with uv light🐚...amazing!!!!💜💜💜
If you’re wanting to find more Staurolite crosses you should check out Fairy Stone park in Stuart VA. You just pick them off the ground. Lots of fun😁
Bri is a great rock hunter! She's always outdoing you, Chris! You must be proud. 😊 This was a very interesting & fun video! 👍💌
OBSESSED with the Yooperlites
First part of the video is Serpentinite. Serpentine is one of the minerals that make up Serpentinite. The light green waxy mineral is probably lizardite ( serpentine group mineral).
Did you ever think about proposing a show to the History Channel or Discovery with you, Wildkyle, the Crystal Collector, Jake Dallmdy and Jiggin with Jordan? You could do something similar to Josh Gates but based on Geology, Fossils both on land and in the water.
I just discovered, my Lapis Lazuli glows just like these stones.
That's what she said
Yeah.. it's because of pyrite🥰💙💙
Great finding I love the Crystals and the glowing in the dark rocks those are beautiful I joined the video this was a incredible Jornrey with views of the places too
those little blue crystals are amazing.. everything is! thanks for sharing yet again!
I love seeing your reactions to these discoveries! The small flat blue crystals kind of look like Barite, and the purple stuff looks like Lepidolite to me.
Love this! I’m learning so much!
Ooooooo all black chlorite garnets actually sound pretty cool. All the reactive rocks are also gorgeous.
Great finds in this one. What a wide variety of rocks you guys got (the purple looked like amethyst to me). Beautiful scenery, too. Thanks for sharing!
It's nice you came to our great state of Michigan! What a fun adventure! Beautiful rocks and crystals. Thanks for sharing! Hopefully I can visit the UP one day soon.
I love rockhounding, thanks for showing me beautiful stauff
Sure enjoyed your day in the creeks of Kentucky...
Loved the agates....the color was amazing..thanks for taking us....
Amazing! I have lived most of my life up here in da Yoop & I'm just discovering these cool things at 43 years old.
Love your Michigan camping hunts!
We just got back from da UP and we also found some Yooperlites. Awesome time!
Love the rock hounding, amazing, want more!!!!❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️
What is the brand name of the UV light you're using?
Thanks for sharing. You found a lot of crazy gems. Take care of your finger...🤣🤩🍀
So many finds so little time! Love tourmaline, its my birth stone. Im glad you didn't step on mr. Frog. He was so cute😁
Cris, awesome finds. Stay safe. ✌❤☺🙏
Purple stuff (especially around 17:40) looks like Lepidolite to me. Definitely has that platy/micaceous habit.
Bri has such a beautiful smile :)
Ты пришел на камни смотреть или на Бри??😂😂😂
Congratulations to both !!
Very beautiful video my friend !!
Good luck and keep it up !!
Greetings from Greece !!
Another great video Chris, those Celestites are amazing
Another thank you
Nice finds! I enjoy your videos bro, keep up the great work!
Bree killing it.
Those blue crystals are gorgeous, whatever they may be! And those Yooper lights are amazing! I couldn't live near there...I'd have to buy a dump truck for my finds!😄💖
Awesome finds ⛏️😎👌
Blue crystals are aquamarine. Very cool. Awesome way to spend the time.
1:59 I believe you found banded chert. It’s really pretty when they are polished.
You guys are doing great! What a fun and lucrative job you have! I would like to receive one of those beautied!
Your videos are amazing! Would love suggestions for crystal hunting in NY or PA!
That’s a cool light, would you mind sharing where you got it
Nice rocks. Do the Yooperlite sand down as nicely as Petoskey stones? Thank you for sharing ♥♥♥
My son and my family are in lockdown ATM due to him having a cough. So we have to (understandably) stay in until we get the results of the test. So thank you for sharing another interesting video for us to watch to help pass the time! Take care xx
For a cough . Omg they are going over board
Fun collab with Bri! Yellow stones like that here in Washington State usually mean sulfur, did you ever find out what it was? :-)
Thank you for showing how beautiful my home is! When you grow up in the places like you have filmed in this video, you can understand why the city is barely tolerated. You can also see how our way of life is contributing to going green lol 😂 you always know when you’re back in Michigan when all you can see is trees off the interstate
The purple glowing rock is feldspar.
I painted my Attic with Feldspar from Home Depot. Thatch It's expensive
That first green rock looks like Peridotite. Or Olivine.
The blue crystals are called Celestine (suh-LESS-teen). It's amazing how sodalite glows in ultra violet light. Very beautiful.
It's a great video
aquamarines or maybe lepidolite? I guess not! either way sooo awesome!
Are these places anyone can go that are public lands? It sounds so cool!
Purple looks like Lepidolite, but it could be prehnite in rhyolite (usually green but can be purple). So cool about the celestine!
Hey so I'm only 16 but I'm really interested in gems and minerals, so how would I go about learning about this stuff? It just really amazes me
UP has copper points made by the Indians. I'd love to find an ancient copper spear point .
Nice chris
Hey I got a way you can do this during the day. You get a bucket preferably black or just paint it. Create a hole on the side for the flashlight and a view window on the lid.
Hi, absolutely loving your videos! Could you tell me what torch you are using as was very intrigued by the comparison you did on the video! Thank you!!
I’m using a 365nm UV light with a visible light filter. The Convoy UV lights are pretty good.
@@PaleoCris thank you so much for coming back to me - I will look in to the Convoy :)
Ahh that looks amazing.... I’m jealous dude
The serpentine could be that but the larger sample in specific looks very similar to my sample of chysocolla with a slicknside
Hey what’s up man cool video and quick question I live in Massachusetts and we don’t have anything cool like those yooperites and I would like to purchase some are you selling any or do you know of anyone ok thank you enjoy n be safe
Cool video
The blue minerals are Celestite it is native in Michigan...awesome finds
Could be the chitin in the spider's exoskeleton causing it to glow under UV light. In fact, that's one of the easiest ways of finding hornworms on tomato plants before they get too big to do too much damage - go out in the garden after dark with a UV light and the caterpillars on the plants fluoresce a bright green. Edit to add: Chlorophyll definitely does fluoresce red under UV light. That's why the moss and lichen on the rock looked red when you shone the light on it them! (I'm a botanist and used UV light in my research student.)
Interesting stuff
Are you willing to share the location of the beach you were on where you found the celestite crystals? I'd like to take my mom rockhounding for mother's day. We live in Michigan.
I think the frog you saw when you were looking for yooperlites was pretty cool
What uv flash lite do you suggest for beginners
What kind of light are you using?
Purple mineral looks like lepidolite to me. It's actually a type of mica. Blue crystals, best guess, could be barite. The golden crystals near it look like calcite or another form of barite. Blue crystal could also be celestite.
The glowing rocks look like the meteor rocks from Smallville
Black silvery shiny stony is Iron ore as far as I remember when I lived up there!! Most beautiful place to live is the UP. Oh, there is an abandond iron mine ghost towns up there west towards the penninsula
Those tiny blue Crystals are Aquamarines and they fetch a high price, definitely send them to me to make sure they aren't fake!
big plus...
What wave length UV light are you using?
What are the wavelength specs of your flashlight. I’m looking to pick one up for myself for my adventures.
365nm with a UVA bandpass filter. There’s a link in the description to a website selling lights. Amazon also has some good ones.
great greetings from bijih alam
Which UV light you use to find this rocks ?
I think all spiders should be glow in the dark, so I can see them hovering over my bed at night instead of just having to imagine them there.
True. I have the same problem with spiders inside. I just don't know how they get in. It gives me the shivers.
What kind of light do you use?
I concur with lepidolite too
Your little blue crystals look like they might be beryl⁉️
💜💙💚💛🧡❤
Well then! I admit i was wring and would love a blue crystal!
Serpentine. Soapstone ... just feel it
What do y'all do with therocks
What beach in mi are you guys at in this video?
Go check out Mount Ontario Colorado I think it's aquamarine I watch them all the time that's what they find in rocks.
I meant on line.
@Common Logic Or know someone who does
The blue one could be barite or Celestine but you should check it by a density and a scratch test
I think they are barite. Known from the U.P. of Michigan. The small terminated ones resemble those found in Colorado.
The blue crystal could be blue celestite, this would explain the light blue colour and tabular shape. The stone you where mining in looks like a dolostone/ maybe limestone. It looks like you found calcite in the same local which makes sense as it can be found with blue tabular celestite in certain locals in dolostone. I collect up north in Canada in the Niagara region and there are some places that I have been to that are know to have these types of minerals together. Even though it is most likely not aquamarine as some people are saying it is still quite rare and you are lucky to have found some.
100% Aquamarine. The host rock is almost identical to Mt. Antero and they find them in small pockets in and around the host rock.
I'm not sure, but the long blue crystals at16:10 might by Kyanite.
Those blues look like little aquas !
That light green might be a uranium mineral, I think autunite or something like that
