The flowers are Alpinia zerumbet, or shell ginger. You actually do see them all the time living in florida. Leaves are often variegated. The flowers are often hidden beneath. Seriously, look around foundations of commercial buildings like banks and doctor offices.
Love your videos!! I'm an old fart now but you and Kyle remind me of my best friend in high school and college. The only difference is we were always out looking for snakes. Yall's banter brings back such awesome memories! Will be in Florida for a couple of weeks this summer. You guys have put the shark tooth bug in me. Thanks!
Definitely a love spell of sorts. Could be Lucumi/Santeria given the area. It's thrown into the water to release the energy/spell to do its job. Hopefully the writer's target likes them LOL
It's a wish / spell / written prayer it's someone's spiritual manifestation and you did well to leave it where you found it being respectful of these things is always the best idea
Great to be seeing fossil hunts again--I was having withdrawals! That strong smell at the beginning--a Bigfoot maybe? LOL, loved the owls, guys, and the Great Orange Hunt.
I’m soooo glad to see y’all looking for sharks teeth! I have found many over the years but did not know which shark they came from until I started watching you and Wild Kyle. I thoroughly enjoy your videos!!
The scroll is a vodoo spell of sorts. Sanitaria also do this. The Vodoo priest will have someone write their wishes on a scroll and tell them to bury it or throw it in the water. Many years ago I was visiting New Orleans. I was metal detecting and found one in a jar with a metal lid. It had a piece of paper wrapped in a silk scarf. It was written much the same way over and over again. As I unwrapped the scarf there were 7 coins from the Caribbean. I put it back.
What beautiful unusual 🦷 u all found ...beautiful colors..thanks for sharing and the beautiful 🦉 owls... u all have such fun together..fossil hunting is so interesting
Great video Cris! Beautiful owl, and only in Florida, can you find oranges growing any and everywhere! Makes me miss all the citrus trees my dad had in his yard in Gainesville.
Never realize that you could put them under UV light it’s just amazing I’m really glad I saw your post and it’s a lot of fun watching how excited you get over your rocks I’ve been a rock HONNE for absolutely years still never knew about UV thing
I really envy your knowledge of fossil beds in the South...my parents lived in FL for thirty years after they retired, and I had no idea. I've always loved fossils and rocks and minerals. I wish I had known there was such fossiliferous plenty near me when I visited with my parents, and I was 35-40 years younger. I'm 65 now and have some mild health problems that prevent me from walking far. Do you or any of your commenters know of those places where geode nodules just fall out of the banks of creeks? I think there are some in S. Indiana and Kentucky that are within range, and I can still wade up a creek. Thanks! Have a good day, all y'all.
I was watching you find Agates in KY. What you were finding were Indian sculpture. If you pay attention to detail you will find evidence of carving. They are story rocks and have a great amount of fine art completely covering most pieces. Some are not finished. The finished sculptures have directional artwork that is best viewed by firelight or around sunset. The multiple holes are eyes and many are drilled to a deeper layer for the color change or the crystal reflection. It is better known as Portable Rock Art.
I remember shark tooth hunting in central Florida over 40 years ago when I grew up there. Never to the extent that you guys do. I'm in Georgia now, but, will retire soon and get back after it. I'm so impressed with your personalities, knowledge and dedication to such a wonderful activity. Save a few for me :) Jim from Georgia. PS my profile pic is with a Mule Deer skull I found hiking in New Mexico.
Hey brother, I used to bounce around all over the place when I lived in G'ville as a young man. Quarries and springs were involved when not surfing. Found some cool teeth and stuff down there. I'm in N. Georgia now for last 30 yrs, I go metal detecting a lot, just found a men's shaving razor dated 1912 yesterday. Have you tried detecting?

Hope your doing well too and good luck on getting back to Florida. Might like one I've got up here at my place called hawk vs snake, a crazy scene I came across while detecting. Take good care.
Chris if you go to your Google search bar on your phone, to the right is a camera icon. Touch it and do as it prompts and your photo will identify plants for you. Great videos
You guys are awesome. Thank you for introducing me to a new hobby that I always dreamed of doing. I had no idea that I can find such beautiful things in Floridas rivers
Another great video. Are you guys not worried about alligators in creek? How do you know if safe when water becomes muddied while sifting. I’m from midwest, no experience there - just curious.
Practicing witch here, That scroll you found is a spell scroll. The person that made it basically made a binding love spell to keep his/her lover with him. Then took the scroll to mother nature to help bring the intentions to life amd let mother nature do the rest

That is ginger, but not awapuhi. There are several different kinds of ginger. The one in the video is called shell ginger. Awapuhi rarely grows over 3 feet tall, and the flowers are separate from the rest of the plant. The flower pops out of the ground on its own, and grows underneath the foliage. As far as I know, Hawaii is the only place awapuhi grows wild. It is farmed in other places as well, but only endemic to Hawaii. The flowers can be squeezed for their juice. You can use the juice as shampoo, or skin soap. It leaves hair and skin incredibly soft, smooth, and smelling fresh.
A very strange find in the creek! Maybe someone is trying to summon their heart's desire? Nice shark's teeth, Chris! Wild oranges are usually quite tart!💖

4:38 that smell is hydrogen sulfide gas or H2S gas. It is created by the decomposing organics in the mud.
That's why swaps stink at times
