“IF” the NCAA was actually a competent organization they should be the ones dictating when a player warrants game suspensions for off the field legalities. Putting head coaches in that role could, especially in the day of NIL lead to personal lawsuits and unnecessary scrutiny about their decisions.
In the day where the education aspect of being a bulldog is being superceded by NIL money etc, lets let the judges handle the legal stuff and demand the players behave when they are in your presence. College kids gonna let off steam

it definitely looks like all the conference teams are clearing a 2026 non-conference schedule slot - I'd guess they're waiting to see if any of the non-conference opponents raise a stink about the cancellation before they make any announcement about the move to 9 conference games.
