full time filmmaker 5 tips for making better music videos music video tips yc imaging
Bro is 100 percent right about talent wanting to switch up IN EVERY SHOT! This is very frustrating!
support please!!!
That "capitalize on your mistakes" is a trick used in every form of art lol. Be it music, painting, drawing, writing, etc. It's a good tip.
100%! I always keep this in mind
Amen!🙏🏼 💯
Bro, definitely u should make a tutorial on how to make that, rocky messy vintage look!! Decrease the size of the frame, and zoom into that, trying to equilze ?
I didnt realize it until you said it but showing all of my clips within the first 30 seconds is whats making my footage feel stagnant. Im 1000% gonna move away from doing this!
Love the vintage aspect. I did that a long time ago. I do it on tons of album/song covers I do when the artist sends me cell phone pics to use lol. Such a useful way to turn low res into dope project.
I love how u always share from you perspective as an indi artist I not only right, produce, engineer and sing my songs I also shoot my own music video and this is very helpful so thank you!!!😊😊😊
Shades being on and off is not small 😂😂😂 … these artists always on a mission to mess up our shots 😂
I was around for those early 80s days of crazy music videos (watching, not shooting) so I'd say combine #2 and #1 - talent wants to wear a different jacket in the close-up vs. the wide? Lean into it and change up the entire outfit! Light the wide with green and yellow, and the close with magenta and blue. Just because you're in one location doesn't mean some trippy alternate reality stuff didn't happen between the shots. It's a music video. Lean all the way into some crazy style changes. Also, that fire shot at 4:02 is... well... fire.
I think in music videos continuity isnt a big issue unless it’s a narrative style music video…. Usually that matters for shortfilms etc
promotion please
@@Tiin3m huh?
@@Deedzproductionz support please
I’m just getting started learning to do this stuff, I’m 78 years young.
I got no excuses then 😊
Too late
@@Lon727 not too late to delete your comment
While I agree with you re: continuity, I don’t know that your examples are really indicative of what you’re saying. Hood up in a close shot but down in a medium comes off as a stylistic choice IMO, not necessarily a continuity error. And really, if the video is more performance based than narrative, then those small gaffes aren’t too much of a big deal. Just my thoughts. Great video as always. Thanks for sharing. ✊🏾
When you’re shooting for a different perspective of the same scene, making sure everything is the same is important. The viewer shouldn’t know that it was recorded x amount of times. Continuity is very important in film making. He explained it perfectly
@@xaviermichel9452 In a narrative film or video, sure. In a music video, especially one that’s performance based, not so much. Viewers aren’t idiots. Unless it looks like a oner, viewers know that several takes are required. This is a medium in which a lack of continuity can be forgiven as it can be seen as (like I said before) a stylistic choice. Look at classic videos by Hype Williams, Francis Lawrence, and Paul Hunter and tell me their “continuity errors” detracted from viewers’ enjoyment and appreciation of them.
Putting the videos into sections is something I never really thought about great vid
I am pleased with the info that you share about video. I've been a videographer for about 12 years and just now getting into doing independent projects thank you for taking the time One love brother.

Capitalize on your mistakes, such a good tip! 💯
ACCURATE!!! WE AS FILM MAKERS WE LOVE TO PERFECT!!! I MYSELF DID AOT OF THESE MISTAKES!!! BUT YOU LEARN AS YOU GO!!!
I’m always grateful to be here watching these videos. Thank you bro 🙏🏾💫
Continuity for sure is a problem, i try to have photos taken during or between takes for reference, makes the process a lot easier!
Chopping the song into sections to keep the viewer glued to the last bit.
I have always being a victim of the fourth mistake. Just learnt something new. Thanks boss
I agree there's mistakes that just compromise shots... Kind hard to control a mistake when the artist(s) wants it though.... But with practice I guess everything works
I do have to say there has been more mental contemplation for my video projects and with that being said, maybe I over think that I have space for areas where the idea doesn't quite come together the way that I've envisioned but I have space to mold a fairly decent idea but great points! I think the first 2 points is something that I took notice in review and always mindful of going forward. I'm not sure if the real excitement is actually coming up with the idea, shooting it or getting back to editing!!!!
On point 💯💯
Thank you for tips in this video, really brought light to a lot of the things I do when I shoot my own music videos which I know now to correct and avoid

What you do at 0:30 is actually a jump cut. We gotta see u put those bad boys on for it not to be. Continuity has to do more w set/scene consistency.
