- On this episode of Rock Rods Tech Jake Burkey and special guest Kris Vangilder from ISP Seats give us a class in Racing Harness Safety. First they go over the different types of racing harness systems from the minimum of 5 points all the way up to the 7 point that Kris reccomends. Secondly the materials to look for when buying yours from the type of webbing material to whether the clasps are forged or stamped. Then they talk about the correct type of hardware to use and how important it is for the racing seat belts to be able to move freely at the mountin points, Lasty they discuss how to correctly install and maintain a race harness so it will function properly and last a long time. These are not only great tips for off road users but they also pertain to just about any type of racing vehicle where racing seat belts are required. Jake knows his stuff for sure
Guys remember the best seatbelt will do no good if your not wearing it
TRUTH!
Many thanks for the informative and to the point video about racing harness belts! I wish all youtube videos can be held at the same standards!
We plan on doing many more so stay tuned!

Is the white board a self portrait ?
He leaned against there an drew his outline so yes
Great video!! That guy new his stuff.
thanks, he does no doubt
He knew how to spell knew too.......................Are you new to the business of spelling words?
Excellent video Jake and Kris. You've convinced me to go with a latch not a cam. They're about half the price anyway. I'm still confused about the differences in the 6 and 7 point harnesses over the five. It appeared that you said the extra belts wrap around the thighs of both legs? Is that correct? How are they attached? Thanks.
Outstanding informationl vid! Tyty
👊

Very informative ! Need to replace my expired seat belts in the Race Truck ..
thanks, hopefully it helps
good stuff
glad it helped
You guys are awesome, think I contacted you on your website busted knuckle films
Thanks!
hello, great video! i was wondering what would be my best bet? since my truck has no air bags at all and ive heard a lot of negative things about harnesses so would i be better off with a oem seat belt or a 5 point harness?
For a daily driver, seatbelts and air bags are probably safer
Busted Knuckle Films I don’t have any airbags since my truck was in a collision and i can’t afford to replace the airbags and the seat belt tensioners were deployed so would a 3 point seat belt be use less? I currently have a 4 point harness but I heard a lot of bad things about them
Greetings, what is the function of crossing the belts in the back of the seat?
we don't cross belts, some are made to attache to a single point
Someone was saying that if I don’t wear a Hans device, my neck could snap forward and break with a harness system. Is that true? He was saying you’re better off to have the shoulder straps loose so that you can come forward and have the airbag stop you. Street car. Is he correct? Thank you.
I wouldn’t worry about it for the street
1:10 *Why does it hurt, to wear a harness??* I wear my harness the same way the figure on the left side of whiteboard shows & it hurts real real bad....why?? I have the 2 harness straps over my shoulders, the 2 across my waist & the last harness strap comes up between my legs, it is ran in between my two testicles, so one testicle is on the left side of the harness strap & my other testicle is on the right side of the harness, just as the diagram drawing shows on the whiteboard......so why does it hurt down below while driving??
Seriously, your doing a great job & I'm grateful for all the knowledge you put out, I'm just joking around.....lets just say I'm busting your balls a little, lol. THANKS for vids & plz, keep em coming.
lol, sounds like you are doing it wrong
Can I put 6 point harness in prp bench seat
I believe you can.
Thank u
Best harness with a full cage but no hans?
Here is our HANS video- ruclips.net/video/WiJgFlQrYhE/видео.html
Im interested on if safety harnesses actually expire or is it a sales ploy. Why is that there is no expiration date on passenger car seat belts because passenger car crashes can be just as brutal as a race car crash.
the only reason that would matter is for racing
Never never get 4 point harness
better than a normal seatbelt but 5 or 6 point is way better
This may be a dumb question, but why not?
@@chelsea7336 because if you get in a crash you (can) slide under the harness, also called the submarine effect.
Never say never 💩
I think for crawling they work just fine to hold you in safely when you flop or roll... this comes from watching folks flop and roll while wearing a 4 points on our runs . The stock 3 point held me in just fine the couple times I went over onto my roof . A 5 point and 6 point are...NOT...realistic for a trail rig where you are driving in a group going from obstacle to obstacle and get in and out of the rig multiple times ... it's not like a race car where the driver is strapped into the car and only exits when done . A 5 or 6 point probably wouldn't even get used due to the inconvenience ...lol... it only works if you wear it .
first like and comment
but did you watch it? lol
BustedKnuckleVideo yup watchin it now
BustedKnuckleVideo it's like I'm in mechanic school again
It was informative. I've got to get Jake moved closer so I can help the production value of these.
BustedKnuckleVideo yeah you can tell it wasn't the camera you use to record the trucks and rock crawlers
