Lyin eyes was the second song I learned to play on the guitar. My first song on guitar was tequila sunrise. Last week, 45 years later, I finally sang and played it at open mic and I nail it. I
I bought that album when it came out in the 70s and the guitar work on lyin eyes is still fantastic. I still listen to this song all these decades later. I've watched other people playing this song but you nailed it.
I would just like to say here this is a perfect example of a song that was created for the singing voice; who'sever voice that may be. Beautiful rendering!
I trust your videos because you nail the songs, and they are so easy on the eyes. Nice and clear. It's great that you run through the song before breaking it down.
Bernie Leadon had a crucial impact of the "sound carpet" of Eagles first 4 records. Incredible guitar fills, solos and backing vocals. Multiinstrumentalist (guitar, mandolin, banjo and steel guitar) that deserves more credit. He was guitarist on 4 out of 6 records by Eagles (He quit and was replaced by Joe Walsh on the 2 last records, Hotel California and The long run).
You're obviously a perfect guitar teacher and well skilled to the very your accuracy is hard-fought and impeccable and tested by you. What you showed me is this song is about this guitar licks
I believe he had done another video of Lyin Eyes. As the lesson progressed he have each guitar part added to the video. So by the time the video ended all the parts were added together and played all at the same time. I forgot to save it and realized the video was taken off of RUclips. It wasn't to hard to figure out why it was taken off and by whom. Even Don Felder who did a video on Hotel California it was removed because of copywrite. He's the guy who wrote most of the musice for Hotel and it was removed. Gotta Love Henley and Frey they wouldn't share any so called glory with anyone. But know I see it was put back on RUclips.
I too struggled with holding picks. I tried sanding, slicing ridges with a box cutter, finally settled on a slight burning pass with a lighter to rough up the surface a bit. It also helps to keep your hands immaculately clean of all oils before even picking up the guitar! That helps my strings stay alive a lot longer too not to mention the neck surface stays cleaner. Great video! Thanks for putting this together.
Double-stick cellophane tape works wonders for me. I wrap a small piece around the flat side of the pick and it sticks great. You;ll have to change the tape when it wears off, but it last a long time
Another great tutorial! I solved my pick dropping problems with "Guitar Moose" picks. A really good solution if you've had an issue with holding onto picks, which I had. A bit pricey but I will use nothing else.
very good playing. When you use 3rd and 4th finger for pickin it would be perfect chickin picking used by most country guitar players, so you dont have to move the pick (plectron) so much in the hand).
I would like to learn the whole pick tuck away move and back again, please Kelly. I have tried to figure it out for a while. I know it's not a song but it is an act to make steps to and from easier. Thank you sir!!
Love early eagles guitar riffs especially lyin eyes and life in the fast lane.I would like to request a song that is very over looked on the tube and haven’t found any accurate tutorials, my request is for keep your hands to yourself by Georgia Satellites. Thanks
Excellent. Perfect. Unfortunately I dont have a #2 guitarist so I've found I can do better by capoing the 5th fret and playing the riffs off of those chords.
Great vid I’ve been working on these fills a long time and the ones I can’t get are the mandolin fills Felder does live in 77 any help would be greatly appreciated . Ur the best Thanks
This is probably what the Eagles played note-for-note, but I just noticed that there's a non-diatonic note (not in the G major scale) played over Bm. Since Bm is the iii-chord in G, the first 3 notes of a scale built on B (phrygian mode) would be B, C, and D. However, it's common to hear musicians play B, C#, D, or a typical 1, 2, b3 phrase in this situation. I'm not saying it's wrong for musicians to do this. I'm just pointing it out as something "interesting" that happens in composition.
Is there anything unique about the pickups or wiring of you Les Paul? You mentioned a compressor and you obviously have great finesse in picking technique but this isn't your only tutorial where you seem to be able to extract both Tele and Strat tones from that Les Paul. My LP seems to mellow/ flatten any pick or nail attack, making convincing single coil sounds impossible to approximate.
Why are the songs you do like Lyin Eyes played differently then what the sheet music shows? I'm sure your correct, i was just wondering. Even when I watch them playing they play it different then what the sheet music shows. A lot of the book say guitar recorded versions but are different. Is it because of copy write ownership.
Sometimes, the original songwriter will insist on inaccurate tabs to keep the actual licks a "mystery" . Different tuning account for some of the different sounding parts, too.

Here before Don Henley has the video removed... Excellent video! very helpful
As long as Andy didn't play the actual track he will be fine
Yah Henley thinks it will steal 2 cents of royalties from his greedy, slimy hands.
He really single-handedly ruined the Eagles sound for me.
You been watching rick beato? Lol
Good thing he didn’t write the song, green fry doesn’t care

You are a masterful teacher! Everything you teach is spot on with the respective recording!
Love all the fills on this song.

16:20 I think the word you are looking for is "universal" This stuff is gold! Thanks for posting this valuable lesson.
I dont care when I know the songs. I love your playing and also the fills I may not have had right. Thanks again for sharing! 😊
Bernie Leadon the unsung hero of the Eagles golden years. Great musician !

You guys heard of Monster Grips?
Great lesson. Nobody seems to cover the low licks after "Hands cold as ice" and other verses. Loved the fills lessons. Thanks.
I hear a good, if gentle, singing voice in the background.
Excellent instructional videos. My go to teacher now. 👍
Man you are a great teacher and one of the best note for note guitarist on you. THANK YOU! Hope your health issues are under control.

Maybe Don’s mellowed some.Give the man his props.Glenn deserves most of the credit for this incredible ballad.
I was wondering what happened to this lesson! You are a great teacher and I hope that you are feeling well. All the best!
Love the tip on sanding your pick! Wish I’d thought of that!
Wow... What a great guitar player !!!
as well teacher. But such a talent, brilliant

Always perfection in your videos. You’re a great musician
Amazing as always! It would be great if you make a tutorial of the song “tequila sunrise” by the Eagles 🙏🏻 Greetings from Italy!
Beautiful authentic work! thank you so much for your videos!!!!
Another fantastic tutorial. Thank you!
Wonderful fills/harmony…thanks.

Andy If you can do Chico and the man by Joe Feliciano. Thanks
Great song but man it goes on forever. I flat wore out dancers one time playing it.
Great 🎉🎉🎉
Yess
Maravilhaaaa Rio de Janeiro Ipanema Brasil 😂
What model Taylor are you playing. Just curious, that's a nice Taylor..
There's a link to my gear page in the description box below each video. I list everything I use there. Cheers

He’s got specifications on most of his gear on his website. The Les Paul is described in detail. You could start there.
What guitar are you using?

Am i right, its sounds like you have medium strings on that taylor, woww its loud
Gut 5:50
Yeah, he’s known to do that
Small niggling point: Although it was spelled "fray" he pronounced it "fry."
Funny great minds think alike 😂
Great vid...as everyone says Don Henley will probably take it down....what an asshole! But thanks for this!
Why hasn't Don Henley blocked this video?
You would be better off making a tutorial of Don Felder's electric. It's FAR superior and more well known than Bernie Leadon's.
