Thanks so much, I had the Rear AC Blower running all the time and it would not switch off (Toyota Sequoia 2014), by doing the reset steps in the this video the problem is solved.... 🤩🤩🤩.
A friend gave this a shot and not only did it reset the system as expected, his blinker fluid was also refreshed. Apparently there was also an extra muffler bearing in the exhaust system, because after resetting the entire system, including blinker fluid, a muffler bearing rolled out the tailpipe. Now it only makes 3/4 the noise it made before. Amazing!
I just used this method on my 2005 Honda CR-V it worked like magic. I tried a Milwaukee impact, a Dewalt impact, my air impact, a long cheater on a breaker bar using the Honda tool (I broke the harmonic balancer doing this). First try using this method it came loose. Hooray!😅 Thank You.🎉
Why did the harmonic dampener break? I'm confused at what method you used and all the impact talk. Aren't we talking about discharging the systems after disconnecting the battery? I'm just trying to understand what you're talking about. I'm dealing with knock sensor code on 08 turbo acura rdx. You having an 05 crv I'm trying to figure out if this can help me with my problem.
@ The harmonic balancer is bolted in the end of the crankshaft. It helps mechanically balance the engine. It has no relationship to the electronic components of the engine (ECU).

Always check if you can do this with your year/make/model. This has been a common thing to clear the KeepAlive memory, except for '96 Fords. '96 was their first year of OBDII. Doing this on that year, maybe '97 and '98 as I can't remember when they implemented the fix, will instantly fry the KeepAlive circuit thus needing an ECU replacement. They fixed the issue eventually in later years. As always, proceed at your own risk.
Okay I was driving with a bad camshaft position sensor and the signal was so weak that the ECU turn off the fuel and spark. But once I replace the camshaft position sensor the fuel and spark is still off and my car still won't start. I did this and still won't start. You can't turn the fuel and spark back on once it has been turned off. I'm just going to have to replace the spark plugs again and I'm gonna have to replace the fuel pump. Bad camshaft sensor really messed up my car. Now that I have the new camshaft sensor my car still won't start.
@@BryanG830You might have got a bad sensor. I'd take it back and have it replaced. Before I put a new fuel pump in it. Because fuel and spark are both controlled by the computer. Sounds like the computer still isn't getting signal from the cam shaft sensor. And getting bad electronic parts happens all the time. Just a suggestion because I had the same issue with a Toyota Corolla. Replaced the cam sensor a second time and fixed it.
I took my car in garage after ignition switch and starter. David W.- just sent my ECM back to Flagship One for reprogramming. How did they work out for you. Seemed like the BCM issues never reset. Your thoughts please....
On a modern car this could possible cause power spike in the capacitor causing more issue or even new issues including a fried ecu. You should always use a resistor inline between the negative and positive cables. 1ohm 10w resistor should take roughly 15min . You can use higher resistor but Higher resistors wil need to be connected longer

Awesome video 🙏🏽 I’ve ordered a remanufactured BMC flashed to my vin twice, and both times got a no start. I’ll probably have to perform this process to get it going, but now I’m wondering what will happen if I reset my original BCM 🤔 I’ve had my truck for 2 years and the horn never worked, and the same with the A/C. Recently the third brake light stopped working Since last summer my CEL would flash after about 3K rpms, it started idling rough, and had all types of codes. Replaced everything, cleaned all grounds, and now I’m down to the BCM, but I’m really wondering if this step will cure it of the random codes, cel flashing and everything else. THANKS!!!
Thanks for the great video!! I did exactly what you said, but I left them connected with the cables for a few hours. It didn't reset anything in the car. Any idea why, or how I can do it? Thanks for the help I appreciate it.

Why did you remove/ isolate the positive from the battery in this video but left the positive connected to the battery in the other video with the Ford Explorer?? Is it different with the Chevy or does it matter?
I had a similar issue are the Dodge ram that the gas gauge and gauge is went nuts and it has a process to apparently these new cars have process is built into the ignition switch and they’re probably like Dealer fix all the items that they don’t give out those secrets, but this is obviously one of them because I followed another videos instructions for the Save guy to take and I was shocked that things were resetting everything was fine then. My friends car just blew this out of the eve vapp sensor and now it’s not going in and out and I think her problem was the main ground strap from the engine into the frame broke so this is how these things start bad connections you always want to make sure you clean everything anytime you’re working on any electrical stuff use the electrical connection grease if you have to to get a good ground. A broken ground out of gas take wire could really affect the gauge on Fords. I’ve had several that were the ground breaks it reads 3/4 of a tank of gas.

After replacing the fuel pump in my Jeep grand cherokee laredo 3.7 WK- Im now having a problem with a vapor lock and my new pump is making a ringing/humming noise off and on-is there a way to fix it with a inline check valve or inline filter of some sort. I have to release pressure on the fuel rail to re-crank it after it runs for more than 20 minutes/ which is a possible fire risk.
Would It be safe for me to do and get the stock/original tune back if the previous owner of my truck (2003 Sierra 1500 5.3l) took it to a shop and paid to have a custom "gas saver" tune put on it? and if so it would just revert my truck's tune back to stock right? Because that's the goal here since the tune on it now doesnt allow it to rev past 3k rpm in any gear when on a stock tune 1st and 2nd gear shift out at 52-5600rpm.. so the truck just feels gutless and I to revert back

Almost all the calibrations in the Engine Control Module are written to the EEPROM meaning it has to be electronically erased. This is done with a scan tool. Clean the battery terminals with a small wire brush, a mix or paste of baking soda & water and use an old tooth brush. It is a chemical reaction between an acid and alkaline. Even a cola has citric acid so it can works on Cooper oxide, the part the turns green. Have the battery tested at you parts store. If you have / buy a digital volt ohm meter, then when running check the voltage level at the alt and move ground around to the fender, frame, block and battery negative. You are looking for a loss. Loss means a dirty, loose or corroded connection or broken. Remember that alternators produce the negative current off the back housing. 99% of the times, there is a threaded shallow hole on the back that allows a 10 gage or larger 6 gage wire & eyelets the from the alternator to the block, cylinder head or intake lowering resistance to the battery. Using "Star Washers" sold at home improvement stores sell internal & internal star washer that are effective on rusty, galvanized, painted or undercoating. But checking for voltage drop is alway done with engine on, lights, heater on high, wipers, stereo, just current flowing thru an active circuit to check. It works every time. An Engine Control Modular's had to sent out for basic reprogramming be it used or update to a restoration. Visit LT1Swap website because Brendan has a lot of offer as extremely reasonable prices. Took it out and drove it, 45MPH on cruise without any stuttering; 70 MPH, no stuttering; 55 MPH no stuttering and fuel economy is back to normal. Problem seems to be gone! If it is, saved me buying another ECU and having it programmed, probably $800 or more. Thank you!!!!
Very cool. Congrats! And what a headache!
Amazing!
😂😂😂
Those muffler bearings are a bitch
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on this yet thank you. You may have just saved my friend having her 2008 GMC towed to the dealership.
My 2006 Ford focus PATS systems activated and would not turn over. I did this and it reset the system and started right up. Saved me from having to have a locksmith reprogram my system.
R u serious? My 2010 f150 went into Pat's lock 18 months ago and it sat in my backyard for 17 months I was fidlling around with some wiring under the dash and alligator clips and somehow magically got it too start drove it for a month perfect no problems at all then it goes back into security lockout mode once again and now I cannot get it going I'm going to try this in just a second and I'll let you know if it works I'm really optimistic after your comment fingers crossed
I have had a hard time with my F150 replaced alot of stuff and it would keep going in limpbmode. . I saw your video today and tried it .Happy to report that it is working so far. Thank you.

Ssangyong Rexton 290 2002 automatic, would not shift to 4th gear and would usually shift very ruffly otherwise.
After doing the reset, as shown in the video, shifting to 4th is no longer an issue. Also it shifts like a dream between all the gears now.
Thank you very much good Sir!
Thank you very much young man if it wasn't for your video I wouldn't know what to do when my car wouldn't start, much appreciated.
Did this fix your no start issue?
@@vasilybk1760 only if you fix that actual issue at hand. Meaning whatever was causing the no start originally.
Interesting video. I just disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and then turn on the lights to clear out residual power.
Thanks for clearing that up 👍

@@BryanG830 Try replacing your MAF sensor with a known good one.
I followed your instructions and got my car inspected 😅 thanks alot

I took my car in garage after ignition switch and starter. I bought the reconditioned and programmed ECM from Flagstaff -- a company from New York ( priced at $176, but with exchange and shipping = $384)!!!
I'm a dyi'er beyond my skill set.
I took it to my mechanic who had a scanner, diagnostic technical knowhow, etc.
David W.- just sent my ECM back to Flagship One for reprogramming. How did they work out for you. Seemed like the BCM issues never reset. Your thoughts please....

Hi could you tell me what problems you had before resetting? Thanks
This was a big help for my 07 Expedition. TCM was acting up and a reset did the trick. Thank you for the video!
Thanks so much for sharing this method. I will perform thess same steps after replacing my throttle body.
Did it work, I cleaned my throttle body and now my Chevy idle is to high after I step on the gas ,

My Mazda 5 2010 diesel have suddenly lost the Bluetooth - option does mot appeare when pushing on the phone knob. - mute - appeares instead
Anyone know procedure for resetting?
where do you pick one of them up at?

After disconnecting the battery, turn on the headlight to dissipate the capacitors.
as you said that more complicated cars you cannot dissconnect the battery, my question is don't they always dissconnet the battery on every vehicle when they weld the car to protect the battery, I am no pro at this but I am wondering how this works.

I've done this before and I think it really works,I have a 2001 vw Jetta by the way 👍👍
you are not sure if it works ??
I tried this, but it didn’t work. What happened instead was a message popped up on the display that said using jumper, cables, connect one end of cables to battery terminals. Place both clamps of other end to tongue for five seconds. I tried that and guess what. Everything reset as expected! You should try it. I’ll bet you’ll save yourself a little time.
A little advice please 08 Chevy express 2500 w/4.8 V8, cleaned the throttle body, I didn't realize what was gonna happen, ya think your method will get my idle back where it belongs?? Hello what were the problems in the first place before you reset?
@@philjagdon6774 I am not sure what trigger the immo. I recall jacking the front of the car, quite high, for some maintenance, maybe disconnecting the battery, and afterwards the car did not start.
Hi and thanks for this detailed, informational, tutorial video. Do you think this will restore an 05 Chevy Silverado LS 1500 5.3 bad instrument cluster that works from time to time? TIA
This really works. But, it is only meant to reset the ECU only after the problem has been rectified.
Awesome video 🙏🏽
I’ve ordered a remanufactured BMC flashed to my vin twice, and both times got a no start. I’ll probably have to perform this process to get it going, but now I’m wondering what will happen if I reset my original BCM 🤔
I’ve had my truck for 2 years and the horn never worked, and the same with the A/C. Recently the third brake light stopped working
Since last summer my CEL would flash after about 3K rpms, it started idling rough, and had all types of codes.
Replaced everything, cleaned all grounds, and now I’m down to the BCM, but I’m really wondering if this step will cure it of the random codes, cel flashing and everything else.
THANKS!!!
Thanks so mucho for greate information...i fixed a Ford escape 2012 with this process.
Thanks for the great video!! I did exactly what you said, but I left them connected with the cables for a few hours. It didn't reset anything in the car. Any idea why, or how I can do it? Thanks for the help I appreciate it.
If you want to go a step further, with both battery terminals DISCONNECTED, turn the key on and then off once.
What does that step do for you?
That's a good 1, open the circuits. Like a 2 way switch.
You mean turn it on then disconnect the battery and turn off the key ? Thanks

My 1999 456M GTA Ferrari has several separate ECUs. Will your method of resetting them work on my car or is the engine management system too complicated?
Thank you for your video. Unfortunately by truck didn’t start.
You can simply apply the brake pedal and accomplish the same voltage drain

Check coil it was fine so replace fuel filter just recently found out that it may have the brain box. I've heard of disconnecting the cable watch the video and liked it my question is the tipm the same as the ECU is that the same as brain box? And what's the difference between a hard reset and a soft reset? Again the van is always drove by and it was our church van always had a tank of gas right now I run on here a lot and even ran out a couple times should I check the new fuel filter it's only been 2 weeks should I drop the gas tank and clean it? Not sure where to start and I know nothing about computers thank you

Does this reprogram the body control module???
Everything
Ford refers (or used to) to this as an “adaptive stratagy.” Discharges capacitors in computer control systems.
Does it work with regular cable boost? With the 2 negative and 2 positive? Thank you
When you connect the jumper cables is it to the cables that were connected to the battery?
Thanks good video. I was told to start the truck put the transmission in low or 1st gear for 3 minutes and 2nd then drive and reverse. Does it make a difference ?
Yeah. There’s a ridiculous number of relearn processes out there. Some work. Some don’t. It is highly dependent on the year and if it has an electronic throttle body or cable.
Sir, my car has already started manufacturing,1,2,3 ignition coil is working fine, but ignition coil 4 is not supplying current, will the help of your teaching, solve my car problem.

Because that's the goal here since the tune on it now doesnt allow it to rev past 3k rpm in any gear when on a stock tune 1st and 2nd gear shift out at 52-5600rpm.. so the truck just feels gutless and I to revert back
Question? Can I use any jumper cable because I see the one you are using in the video does not have a negative end? My car is a 2010 Chevy traverse.

And to prime the fuel pump.
Does this affect Recalibration done on the ECU?
DK, Omaha.
