- The most recent DLC for Dead Cells takes the Beheaded to the medieval environments of the Castlevania series in a crossover event with the game series that inspired the creation of Motion Twin's own game. Let's take the time to go through the Beheaded's journey as they team up with Alucard and Richter Belmont to defeat Dracula once and for all!

Dracula must be very annoyed being killed every 100 years right after being revived
Would you say that he sucks?
I love how you linked the 2 ''everyone is here'' updates with this DLC to make sense of why all of these different world got mixed up in the island. Good stuff man! ❤
Thanks a lot! I liked that too. It seemed a natural way to introduce the events of the DLC. Plus, it was a little way I could advertise some of the other games I've done videos on. Lol.

Never thought i would see the day the beheaded working alongside a Belmont and Alucard
All we need now is for him to work with a certain bounty hunter, but that's basically impossible
Yeah Nintendo would never let that ip go
@@nihilistlemon1995 of course not but maybe we could get a sequel of sorts like Cadence of Hyrule. It’d have to be exclusive sadly.
What bounty hunter are we talking about? Metroidvania?
@@Gumpinn Samus. And the term comes from Synphony of the Night which incorporated many elements from Metroid.
@@supershadowfan2000 Ah sweet, i totaly agree that it would be an amazing crossover. Emeditly thought about the skin having the ball roll as dodge and Samus canon integrated and maybe combo with bombs? Like Alucards sword and shield combo 🤔 Oh dont forget that you have to be able to charge the weapon.
Metroidvanias really have come full circle, huh? Great video!
The Old blending with the New to make something unique! I wonder if Motion Twin and Evil Empire can get Nintendo to do a Metroid Crossover to complete the Metroidvania Ritual! Guess we'll have to keep our eyes out!
That would be amazing!
@@SquatchGamingChannel What will Metroidvania Ritual being completed do
The Legend says upon the Ritual being completed, the Ultimate Metroidvania game will finally come into existence. It will stand, unparalleled, in its genre, and even gaming as a whole - its majesty stretching across physical, cultural, and generational boundaries, resonating with People across the world. People will revere it, talking circles will be consumed with conversation about it, and no one will EVER get sick of seeing it, hearing about it, or playing it. Eventually, the title will be considered not only the best Metroidvania of all time, but the best piece of media of all time: the pinnacle of human achievement in the field of entertainment, remembered for generations to come.
To anyone - after completing this DLC, give Vampire Killer a go. My boy, this weapon wrecks stuff hard, even without critical hit.
Few notes about DLC:
-As noted in last seconds of the video, costume affects the dialogue with Dracula. Outside Belmont, Death and Alucard are into consideration, wonder what about outfits from main game.
-Dracula's trolling not mentioned in the video - make shop vanish and instead leave some gold. Does not affect shop locked behind BC door, but may only the one outside.
-Belmont skin affects the look of Valmont Whip, which then looks like whip from Castlevania (Morning Star in DLC)
Part of me is kind of surprised how yo did not go over the fact that, instead of meeting with the Collector when the Beheaded made his attempts, he would run into Shanoa instead.
You know it's actually nice to see the bee headed being a good guy honestly I thought When he beat Dracula he was going to betray Alejandro and Richter and gain dracula's power
Damn, dropping the lore video on the same day that the DLC releases. I'm downloading it right now but I'll be sure to come back when I'm done.
I was lucky and was able to get it early. That or I made this in the 30 minutes it was out. Whichever one you want to believe more. Lol.

@@SquatchGamingChannel An interesting line of dialouge from dracula is that he made the beheaded, what are your thoughts on this?
What line was that?
I'm pretty sure most of his spoken lines are references to things he's said in Castlevania games (that or joke dialogue, like with the Knight costume), so I wouldn't put too much weight on it.

Yeah, it looks like he's wearing the Death outfit there, so it's not so much Dracula talking to the Beheaded, but to Death.
Dracula has a bunch of different dialogue depending on the outfits that you wear when you confront him.
When wearing the Richter and Alucard outfits, the dialogue is straight from Symphony of the Night, and there is other dialogue specific to other outfits too, but they're all meant to be easter eggs to Castlevania, nothing giving depth to the story of Dead Cells. At least, not that I know of. Lol.
I love the dialogue you get when you confront dracula in the show's character costumes
Thank you so much for putting subtitles, its def apreciated.

Thanks for watching (and reading, to an extent)!
Something important was missed. Legion in Dracula's Castle, when interacted with, would drop meat, meat that was infected with the Malaise, no matter what difficulty the game is on.
Its a strange choice of the developers to include this, and while it could be simply a throw away that "You are literally eating meat from a corpse, of course you are going to get sick", it could also be hinting the Malaise comes from another world entirely.

A Castlevania setting seems perfect for a procedurally generated rogue like considering that in-lore, Castlevania (the building) itself takes a different form and layout every time it reappears.

fun fact, the island is called Skullig island
Would be nice to see a new castlevania
It'd be cool to see it reference other games like dead cells. I mean in past castlevanias we did see subtle references, but dead cells put alot of heart in this one.
I would say the resurrection projects happen and assuming the Silent Hill 2 remake does well both critically and financially for them to do a go ahead and everything but I think I to move on anything Konami related for now aside from Yu-Gi-Oh that can stay
yeah although Castlevania has been surprisingly still doing well mostly outside of Gaming

Always love your dead cells vids, just wanted to ask, would you ever consider making a vid on Starsector?, game might not be finished yet but the lore there is already could make for a good video, not to mention the main quest.
I may be wrong but i do belive some parts of the lore are in the games blog, but it does say in the blog some chunks are showed in the special missions.
I've never heard of Starsector, but I just looked into it a bit, and it does seem like something that could make for an interesting video!

Lol. This isn't the norm! I was fortunate enough to get early access to the DLC, so I've had this ready for a while waiting for release (only the second time ever I've had early access to something). It's normally *weeks* after release that I get a video up. Don't expect uploads like this in the future! Lol.

I think i was able to get them. My favorites are Alucards Sword And Shield. But the other stuff idk what to choose.
Hey could you do the Bank Lore if there is enough to explain.
I can have jacket beat the hell out of Dracula. I am satisfied.
They? Is there another beheaded I don't know about?
I don't believe the bloody eye is a reference to carmilla, but Simon, and his curse. It gave him bleeding tears.
It also unlock simon outfit
I would like to say I'm quite surprised obviously and yeah I kind of makes sense to be honest yes with that the timekeeper probably had to use time so hard that space kind of gave up that day and just thought why not do something like this
yeah I always feel like most of the Random Encounters feels like it's mostly in the quarters ( we're a lot more interesting stuff happens) I kind of wish it was brother a bit more to other places but still
it does feel like a standalone Adventure
I do enjoy the Easter eggs and references although it was more towards Symphony of the Night references but at least it's understandable
there I know anyways I can't wait for those Resurrection projects to happen with Konami ( is assuming Silent Hill 2 remake does well) and what probably help with printing about Konami going ahead with bringing back some more projects and getting themselves back together but I want to move on for now aside from Yu-Gi-Oh
Hey, do you take many cursed Chests and do you have any tips to get more scrolls. I have the feeling I am to weak when I get to the bosses.
I`m at 2 Boss Cells after 50 hours so I think I am on the right way. Nice Video
You mean for the Castlevania DLC in general or are you trying to get more Boss Cells?
@@SquatchGamingChannel Ah soory, I mean in general. I love Dead Cells and was watching a few of your Videos. I saw you had 38 purple scrolls in the end fight in your Dead Cells Lore Video and I was like "Holy!"
No worries!
Yeah, on the higher difficulties, you have more scroll options. Not only do they just give out more scrolls, but you get "Scroll Fragments" which are like one-fourth of a scroll and when you get all four pieces, you get another scroll. And yes, I opened every Cursed Chest I came across. Also, keep an eye out for those challenge rifts. They always give out a scroll when you go through those.
There's some other tips I could give for getting through the higher difficulties if you're interested!
Lastly, thanks for watching, man! Appreciate it!

Someone requested/recommended that a while ago. Is there a lot to the story?
@Squatch Gaming Official its not too too much story, but it's a damn trip, and it has character bios for almost all the major characters and also no one else as made a story explained video about it
Im surprised the belmonts didnt just attack the beheaded on sight

whos the guys sworn enemy and who is the guy who reed dracula
And yet not one character mentioned that the beheaded has no head
What happened to Maria?
How do I get to it 😊
Is it not on mobile?
Dead cells became the center universe
I'm really surprised they put a circle of the moon reference, usually it's seen as a black sheep in the franchise, koji even excluded it from the canon.
Good job on finding the reference
How do you do 18k + damage per hit
I'm sure there are some better explanations out there, but the best way to utilize scrolls in the game is to put all of the Scrolls towards one stat - either Brutality, Tactics, or Survival. The reason being that every Scroll in that stat will *always* give you a 15% damage buff with weapons of that type, which will eventually add up to a crazy amount of damage.
There are other things that you can do to make the game easier for you (use Custom Mode, lock to a specific seed, use Mutations and such), but using Scrolls in the way I outline above is the best.
If you want some more tips, I'm happy to give some more advice!
Thanks for watching!
Any suggestions for good Android games
Thoery the king is a belmont
I really dont like that richter, maria and alucard are brought up as characters, only to get tossed to the side cause they couldnt find a way to tie them in the draculas fight
You can use them as outfits
I will forever be running as the commando from risk of rain 2 I just want the guns not the laser glaive from huntress
does this mean the malaise spread into castlevania
What happend to the gal
CasCELLvania!
Why am I’m late?
Destroyed dracula once and for all ????????
So is he free from the cycle the beheaded
In my mind, the Beheaded only breaks free from the cycle in the true ending of the game (where he takes the Panacea, gets sent to another timeline by the Time Keeper, etc, etc). This "story arc" is a sort of side quest that the Beheaded can take before he takes the path of the true ending.
Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Will he ever gett off the island after his fight with another version of himself, since the world might be infected why not
@@SquatchGamingChannel thanks for the info by the way 🙂

Hello
Might be a strange question, but why refer to the headless as “them”? It’s not like King is an ambiguous character or even a self insert, there’s plenty of lore and direct quotes that relate to him being a male. Namely a wife in an old civilization which probably at least to some degree followed laws reflective of reality (we can see that the royals and seemingly the common folk adhere to similar traits as reality) and the fact that he assumed the role of a King and not simply a royal or aristocrat. Seems strange for scripting’s sake imo so I guess from the perspective of someone who gives a shit about how things are worded I’m curious.
Great Question! I would say it's a two part answer:
1. When writing the original Story Summary, I used they/them to sort of hide that the Beheaded was the King so that the reveal had more impact (even though most people probably already knew). I guess it carried over from that in case others didn't know the plot point yet. For a bit of justification, look at how the Devs *still* hide the identity of the 5BC Boss despite the game and the Boss being out for years at this point - I think continuing to hide the King plot point is pretty on brand for the series.
2. I would personally make the argument that the Beheaded itself isn't the same entity as the King, if that makes sense. Upon undergoing the Homunculus transformation, the King lost all his memories and purpose, and thus ceased to be "the King," adopting another identity that doesn't necessarily have a gender (what do you call an amorphous blob if not an it?); that is, until he reclaims his body and becomes the King once again. Contrast that against the Queen, who, upon undergoing her own transformation, retains all her memories and takes on a purpose that can be argued reflects her status/station. Thus, she keeps her identity and justifying the use of female pronouns when referring to her.
Would I make the same decision today if I was rewriting a Summary that included all the additional information that came out in the subsequent DLCs? I'm not sure. I didn't do it for the Queen when I told her story, so probably not, but I can't say one way or the other just yet!
You have any thoughts of your own?
Thanks for asking, man. Always love to chat with people about the videos! :)
And thanks for watching!
@@SquatchGamingChannel Oh shit he’s chill, wasn’t expecting such a well thought out answer.
In all fairness I wasn’t ever too interested in the idea of dead cells until I’d already read spoilers, matter of fact I still haven’t even beaten the hand of the King yet since I usually divert back to other Roguelike games if I can’t quite grasp the movement system of the one I’m currently playing. However I might point out that every body that the headless inherits are male bodies from what we can tell by their physique, least of all that the characters between each biome call him “Mr. Prisoner, Sir” when you walk through with full mutations. I feel it’s safer to refer to him as a male than to identify him as an “it” or “they” simply because the consciousness that inherits the bodies seems to have enough memories to recall his primary characteristics (such as personality and likes and dislikes) which leads me to believe that even through the process of becoming a homunculi, he still remembers enough to identify as himself to that extent.
Granted the points you made are solid, especially since I’d barely considered that he’s just a blob in all actuality, but it seems disingenuous to add ambiguity to a character that you learn the gender of through your first experience in the game if you make it to the intermittent spaces between levels. The developers wanted you to know that he was male, so I believe the scripting should match the dev’s overall vision of the character. You feel me?
I stay chill, man. It's the best way to live life. :)
Ah, you've totally got me with the "Mr. Prisoner" stuff! I guess I've always thought the since Beheaded was just an amorphous blob, those pronouns came about more because of the body that the Beheaded possessed, but didn't necessarily refer to the Beheaded itself. To support that idea, there are female outfits the Beheaded can wear (the Timekeeper, the Queen, and Mama Tick), so just assigning the blob's gender based on the body it possesses doesn't always work, but, of course, the game's dialogue doesn't change to fit those outfits, so that's another point for your argument.
I can totally see your side too, and you make a strong argument. I think, when the time comes, and I make a video with ALL the DLCs, the Beheaded will likely be referred to as "he" or "him" since I'll probably construct it in a way that we know the Beheaded is the King.
