The Story of Haiku, the Robot (with the Corrupt Mode & Obscure Information DLCs)

- The fall of a once great civilization is always an enticing story to hear - more so when you get to walk through the ruins of that civilization and piece together the story of its downfall. That's what makes these stories so compelling to tell in video games, and Haiku, the Robot is no exception. With its main story, along with additions to its lore from a couple of free DLCs called Corrupt Mode and Obscure Information, the game invites players to come and learn about a once great robot utopia named Arcadia - from its origins to its downfall to its restoration. This storytelling method comes with some risks though as sometimes, people can miss some important information or misinterpret something that makes it difficult to understand everything, so let's gather all of the information from the game, and put it here so we can see the story of Haiku, the Robot in full.

Wow, this is such a great summary! As the dev, you have no idea how satisfying it is to see it all laid out like this, so thank you!! Amazing work
Thanks for making a great game!
Been following Haiku development for awhile so I'm stoked to it get some recognition!
The thanks is all mine! If it wasn't for your time, dedication, and creativity, this would never have been made, so thank you, Jordan, for building such an enticing world and such a great game! It was a absolute pleasure to experience!
Can't wait to see what you do next!
dang only three comments
- Infectious virus spread by a god-like being that causes beings to become aggressive
- Three key bearing bosses for a central, circular vault where you fight a final boss
- Saws
We get it. It’s like Hollow Knight. We know.
You are now Haiku's equivalent of Mossbag.
What an honor! Thank you!
aAAAA Omg I love this!!! I feel so so seen, I named Atom when it was just the base game and had so much fun putting together these pieces and seeing them also seen and put into a video!!! (I'm Giovanni the Lore Helper!)
Atom means like, the literal world to me, and them and Haiku are some of the best characters I've seen in a while. Atom really said "Anyone gonna make a robot baby and raise them as their own?" and waited for no answer, 10/10 robot parenting.
My favorite part of Corrupt Mode was Atom's grief for their child, I'd love to see you go more into that! Not a criticism, I just think its an awesome part of these games. I remember going feral when I saw that connection in the first place and then it got confirmed in that mode.
I've always wondered "Does Haiku have actual physical biology in them to make them immune to the Virus, or are they immune because of Atom's love for them lingering in the mutation making them unable to harm them that severely." One's interesting physically the other's interesting emotionally.
Augh, I'm babbling. I babble so much abt the lore in the Haiku Discord, This video was amazing, great work fantastic!!!
As someone who played Haiku instantly when it released and was a Haiku speedrunner, I didn't fully put together the lore myself, but this all makes sense and makes me appreciate the great story of the game even more. Nice video!
I never realized but i have the same pfp as morris (i didnt know) but anyways, THIS IS INCREDIBLE great editing, and story telling. I love this video great job 10/10
I have been waiting so
long for someone to make a lore video about Haiku. Thank you.
This is freaking awesome! I’ve loved this game for so long now and this is such an amazing summary definitely subscribing
Happy to hear you enjoyed! Thanks so much for watching!
Not sure I'll be doing anymore Haiku content (until more content or a sequel comes out), but there's plenty of other stuff to watch if you it tickles your fancy!
Thanks again for the support! :)
@@SquatchGamingChannelunfortunately Morris revealed that the lost information update or whatever is the last one :( well last MAJOR update to the game
Amazing video, thank you so much :)
Nice to see you again
Might be a while until the next one, but hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
i gotta play this game i still haven’t since u mentioned it. so awesome you got this video out tho, i’ll have to check it out.
I definitely recommend it! It's super fun and, in my opinion, great value for the price!
Thanks for watching, man!
I recommend this game a lot, great art, story, gameplay, soundtrack, and more! It is honestly my favorite/2nd favorite game of all time
Hey ya did it! I never expected ya to get it done this year, 🎉, GL with your next cover
I was going to give you a special shoutout for recommending the game, but my internet has been out all morning, so I'll just have to do it here!
Thanks for requesting it, man! If you hadn't, I don't think I would ever have taken the plunge and made this! Sorry it took so long! Lol.
@@SquatchGamingChannel Appreciated M8, can't wait to see the dredge video, btw more dlc just got announced
Edit: it wasn't even announced formally yet, it just showed up on the steam store!
Great Summary. I always thought this game's artstyle was too cute for me, but I'll have to check it out after this.
I enjoyed this game so much!! ❤
I like how the story kind of resembles the hollow knight background. As in HK an infection spread greatly and made those infected more erratic. With how much I love the HK story just shows that this game is quality
This game was most definitely inspired by hollow knight
Another squatch gaming video ❤
Have you ever played or thought about doing a video on iconoclast?
I actually have a script typed out for it! It's suuuuuuuper long (the finished audio would likely be an hour and a half long - there is a ton of dialogue in that game) and actually recorded audio to make a video on the game earlier this year, but the audio messed up and it sounded horrible, and I just couldn't motivate myself to sit down and record it again (partly because the recording session was over 2 hours which is exhausting and partly because Darkest Dungeon II was coming out soon). I'll eventually get around to making it, but don't have a timetable as of right now.
Super fun game, but so much talking. Lol.
@@SquatchGamingChannel indeed, I’m glad to hear it exists somewhere in the pipeline, it’s one of my top indies and super underrated imo. I will patiently wait for the day your video hits my subscriptions, in the meantime, keep knocking it out of the park with what you do!
Are you going to do a Story of Lies of P. And what is you're next video.
I hadn't thought it, but I feel like a lot of the other Souls-borne content creators are going to cover it, so I'll probably get drowned out. Not to mention that it'll take me FOREVER to make anything on the game since I work alone and have a day job and whatnot (I'm not even sure my PC can run the game, to be honest), so I'll probably be drowned out even further.
Plus, doesn't the game/story have a bunch of branching paths that change depending on your choices? Not really sure how I would deliver nuances like that in video form. I guess a "Here's what each ending means" kind of thing. What do you think?
Lastly, Big Budget games like that don't tend to do too well on my channel, but I guess that could change with one video...
Thanks for asking! I might consider it, but no promises! And thanks for watching!
@@SquatchGamingChannelhey can you do a game called "Dark Devotion" I tried to understand its story through the fandom wiki but its lore is pretty scarce but the overall story seems to be good and there isn't any story summary of it on yt
👏
Haiku Miami
i would like to suggest you make a video on crosscode since i wonned to know thestory but i didnt like the gameplay
Someone else requested that ages ago. I haven't had time to play it yet, but I thought I read that the gameplay was pretty good? Was there a particular reason you didn't like it?
Not sure if I'll ever have time to get to it, but I'll add it to the list! Thanks for the recommendation!
@@SquatchGamingChannel it was actuly alright, i just didnt feel like playing it becose i got cought up in other games i wanned to play more.
@@SquatchGamingChannel If you ever cover it, a warning: the game is long. Like, proper JRPG levels of long.
looks like hollow knight
As a HK player, This is really good due to how similar it is.
Personally, I think it’s too much similar to Hollow Knight. I don’t see much originality.
Ideas get thrown out and repeated all the time, Hollow Knight itself took ideas from Many games.
@@N_Tertainment7 I'm sorry, I respect your opinion. However, no matter what way I look at this project. It looks unoriginal. I've played it & it felt far too much like ripping off Hollow Knight. It copied a lot of things. The artwork is the only reason this project had any audience in the first place. The story itself is a carbon copy of Hollow Knight with slight differences. I'm not defending an "artist" who steals from other games & makes it obvious... There's no innovation whatsoever...
@@Luke-zj6ge *Wasn't Hollow Knight directly based off of metrovanias itself. Hell I'm pretty sure one of the devs even said they took some inspirations from Shovel Knight which too is based off of many gams. I'm saying it's not really fair to discredit a game for a lack of originality when most games take inspiration from their predecessors*
I’ve never seen such a bad game in all my life XD
