- Jesus taught such a comforting, hope-filled message of His return to rescue His Church before the Tribulation, that His disciples went everywhere teaching this same truth.
When Paul had only a month in a pagan city where he planted a church, the Rapture was central to their doctrine.
The Rapture was First Taught by Jesus
The Rapture is a doctrine started and taught by Jesus, continued and spread by His disciples, and believed and passionately lived out by His Church. The early church heard and understood this doctrine of Christ’s any-moment return, and radiantly lived, looking for ways to please Him when He came to rescue them.
James in the first NT letter said that Christ was standing at the door (5:7). The second NT book was I Thessalonians and every chapter shines with Rapture-induced hope-filled expectancy (1:9-10; 2:19-20; 3:13; 4:13-18; 5:23).
Paul’s epistles start to finish, are seasoned with the flavor of a focused life awaiting Christ as in Philippians 3:20 where we as citizens of Heaven await Jesus eagerly, as Paul confesses in his last words of II Timothy 4 where he talks about His crown “at that day” when Jesus comes.
Peter says the same, going so far as asking what kind of lives should we live because we know the future (II Peter 3:11 ). John’s Epistles are the same, in I John 3:2-3 he says that this “hope” causes us to purify our daily life looking for Christ’s coming.
In Revelation 3:7, Jesus Christ identifies Himself to the Church at Philadelphia as the One who is True, Holy, and has the unstoppable Messianic Key of David. When Jesus speaks He tells the Truth. When we listen to Him and hear what He says we can have confident assurance that He knows what He is talking about.
Jesus Christ taught repeatedly (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21) that His 2nd Coming is to Judge the ungodly. That was the content of every sermon on the future that He ever preached. Each sermon was taught in the context of Israel, was focused upon the Jews, and involved the city of Jerusalem and the nation of Israel.
The Rapture is Not The 2nd Coming
But, when Jesus spoke to believers His emphasis was different. Jesus taught His own born-again children of the faith, three bedrock truths about the Rapture or His coming for His Church.
These truths are that: the Rapture will be a source of comfort; the Rapture will be similar to the Ascension; and that the Rapture will be an intentional rescue.
Those truths, taught by Jesus Christ Himself, constitute the Biblical, doctrinal basis for all that the early church was later taught by the Apostles and which extends to us throughout all the centuries since Christ’s ministry.

• THE RAPTURE--ACCORDING...
This is such a necessary teaching for today's church. From what I can tell, the great majority of the Body of Christ is sooooo distracted by popular culture, entertainment, politics, and temporal matters that they fail to anticipate the imminent return of the Bridegroom for His Bride. Far too few of His followers "love His appearing" (2 Timothy 4:8). Thank you, Pastor Barnett, for making such a clear, Biblical case for the "harpatdzo" (sp) of the church. Maranatha!
Respectfully, Jesus taught the principles of the Kingdom of God to Israel which have nothing to do with a rapture of the modern worldly carnal denominational immature selfish church or hell and damnation for most of mankind! Lots of words put into Jesus' holy mouth which He did not speak by carnal dead letter Pharisees who pour over that dead letter and see what is not there and read between the lines which is private interpretation and is out of bounds. An imminent rapture has been preached and taught for almost 200 years with all of the accompanying window dressing, but, no one has been snatched up and those who preached it are dead in their graves for the most part. And no one left on September 23! The pure truth always comes out in due time, and, one day out there in the future it will be evident that....there were no rapture signs....there were no rapture scriptures.....there were no confirmations....there were no God told me or Jesus told me.....there were no real watch days....the so called mocking and scoffing were not that at all but just the truth of the matter.....the watchmen and youtube prophets and end times experts had no understanding of who God really is and how He moves and of His perfect plan for all of His Creation which He is forwarding by the counsel of His own will and were void of the leading of the Spirit concerning 'THE RAPTURE". The 6th and 7th seals' show not only that there is no pretribulation rapture, but also distinguishes between the tribulation and wrath Of God.
Can you give me one chapter or verse in scripture, showing a great multitude of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, being raptured before the 7 year tribulation begins, or after the wrath of God is complete?
I have been a rapture believing Christian for most of my life. However I have never heard it put forth as you have in this message. Beautiful, hope inspiring doctrine from the lips of my savior. May God bless this ministry.

You have quoted that verse out of context.
Jesus was specifically praying for his desciples who were with him at that time. That context ends in verse 19.
From verse 20 onwards he prayed for the rest of us.
Please read verse 20 twice with an open heart.
" My prayer is not for them alone. I pray [also] for those who will believe in me through their message."
Jump to verse 24.
" Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory... "
Of course this is heaven.

There's a catching up from 1Thess 4 but going to heaven for 7 years? Hardly. There's no scripture for that. Are these raptured saints just going to dangle in mid air in freeze frame!!!!? Hardly!!! When the raptured saints ascend meeting the Lord in the air they just as quickly descend with Him to establish a new heaven and new earth and Ps.110!!!!! The only saints coming back from heaven with Jesus are the John 14 crowd. And they have nothing to do with those caught up!!!!!!

With all due respect; Where in Matt 24 it says Jesus will come before the tribulation? It's clear from scripture Jesus will come after the tribulation.
Yes and tribulation is not wrath. Jesus will come after the sixth seal, after Tribulation. After will come the wrath of the lamb.

It says there, *"what time of the night."* Doesn't it mean, the night must have fallen first before it's imminent?

But do you think that Jesus added the *"what time of the night"* just to complete the Olivet discourse, or he wanted to tell us something about the timing of his coming for the believers.

Pastor Barnett, you have "connected the dots" beautifully and elegantly. I am always impressed on how you do that! I hope that one day you will include the commandment to "love one another" ( the one that supercedes the Ten Commandments - and every other covenant) so that this very necessary "dot" will also be included. It's something not too many are doing these days....
Beautiful sermon of truth.
(Amos 5:18) and (Hebrews 9:28) edifies this teaching that the day of the LORD-second coming and the coming again for the saints are two different events. One we desire and long for and another a day of darkness the second coming that we are not to wait for.

In Amos 5:18, written 800 years before Christ, God wasn't speaking to us Christians. He was warning the _idolatrous people of Israel_ , _for whom_ , he said, the day of the Lord (which to them meant the coming of Yahweh in judgement) would be dark.

I had an encounter with the arch angel Gabriel just before September 11-01 . I have also bowed at Jesus feet he has clear brown eyes. I know angels are real and Jesus is alive.AMEN

I am 62 years old and have enjoyed listening to your sermons and teachings on Facebook and I agree with you I was a young teenager when we started studying Hal Lindsey's The late Great Planet Earth at my church! I have a question and I've read it many times that Jesus would keep us from the hour of trial, how much is an hour in God's timing? I don't know why I thought it important to ask until it just struck me that I really want to know or have it defined in light that my brother was a pretribber and is now a prewrath! I'm trying to get him back to pre-trib view and have shared this sermon with him as well as Robert Breaker's teachings! So thank you I hope you can enlighten me!
How long is an hour in God’s timing? The Bible never really says definitively. Just take heart that that hour, that period of time, is what He is protecting us from.
Have you ever prayerfully considered Ephesians 2:11-12?
With respect to your question as to how much is an hour in God's timing.
In Rev 3:10 of the KJV the text reads “...I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.”
Let's look closely at the expression ‘keep you from the hour of temptation’ The idea that this means that the righteous will be taken out of the earth to heaven in a pre-tribulation rapture does not square with the use of the identical expression found elsewhere in the Scriptures.
Notice when Jesus prayed for His disciples and those who would believe in Him in John 17:15, He did not pray that we would be taken out of the world, but that we would be kept from evil. Likewise, the same idea is supplied in 1 Corinthians 10:13, where we will not be tested above that which we can endure.
The hour of temptation that God’s people will go through will be short because Jesus promised to come quickly. In Matthew 24:22 we are told that this time of trial will be shortened because if it were not, no flesh would remain alive. The prophet Isaiah, looking forward in time to these days said: "Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain." Isaiah 26:20-21
This text confirms 1 Thessalonians 4:16, for it says here that the earth will no more cover her slain: This is speaking of the resurrection of the dead at His second coming, and that is when those who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

"These are known as the tribulation saints." After the wrath of God is complete the tribulation saints are caught-up by the angels to heaven where the marriage supper of the Lamb is in progress. The 6th and 7th seals' show not only that there is no pretribulation rapture, but also distinguishes between the tribulation and wrath Of God.

I’m really struggling with this. Pre trib and post trib both make compelling arguments. Of course, I want to believe pre trib, but I don’t want to believe it just because it sounds nice. I want to believe the truth. But both sides believe that they believe the truth. It’s tough.
Trust in God’s Word, and pray for guidance to understand. I myself believe that Jesus will do as He tells us, and that Tribulation cannot begin until the restrainer, or Holy Spirit that is within us, the Church, is removed. Tribulation is not for true believers for Jesus bought our salvation by His blood upon the cross. People sometimes, oftentimes, harden their hearts in their arguments as to pre or mid or three-quarters or post trib rapture, but I believe in scripture. However people choose for themselves to believe, so long as they are true believers then they will also be caught up with the Church when Jesus appears in the clouds. No one who doesn’t believe will see Him, only us. Dr. Andy Woods is someone that teaches the rapture, the gathering up of the Church. You might gain more insight there, if you choose. @@joedhall3424 The secret of learning God's word, as presented by Jesus, is to accept it as absolute truth and as we search that truth we find it is exposing a wonderful science which directs our thinking in a wonderful way. The science is huge and outside our normal understanding but Jesus directs us clearly by taking it past our limitations and showing us that resurrection or rebirth on Planet Earth is within our scope if we believe him.

Matthew 13 parable of the weeds Jesus Himself says He will tell the angels to gather the weeds first. Rapture is of wicked first as Paul concurs Then we who are alive, who are left behind, will be caught up together
Yes, the weeds will be removed before the harvest (Mt 13:30), but you are missing two pieces:
1) the "Wrath of God" descends from heaven upon many wicked, as soon as the "Righteous" have been safely rescued, just like in the days of Noah and Lot (Lk 17:27-30). Accordingly, the "Wrath of God" will descend upon the wicked as soon as the Righteous have been safely raptured with imperishable bodies.
2) "one taken one left" (Mt 23:40-41) The Greek text would more properly be rendered, "One taken-close-beside. One sent-away/rejected"

A person can’t read Matthew 24 and ever come up with a pre tribulation rapture. Jesus himself tells us when it would be in verse 29. “Immediately after the tribulation” What is it about “after” that so many Christians just don’t understand. It doesn’t mean before and it doesn’t mean in the middle it simply means after.
Jesus was talking to four of his disciples and was answering their question of what will be the sign and when will it happen.
Did they understand what Jesus was saying, go and check with marks account and lukes account and read what they said. They have no doubt as to what Jesus had said so here we have two witnesses testifying of what was said.
I believed in a pre trib rapture for over 70 years until I thought I would do my own research as to whether it was pre trib or post trib. It finally hit me as though it was hidden there all the time in plain sight. I still wonder to this day how on earth did I not see this earlier on.
What is it about Matthew 24 was written to ISRAEL don't you get ? In that chapter the ones taken are the ones with the mark. The angels take them to the lake of fire.

Scripture reveals that the Rapture/gathering occurs on "The Day of the LORD" (1Th 4:17-5:2, 2Th 2:1-2), which day, Jesus called "The Last Day" (Jn 6:39-40,44,54), because it is the day when the present heavens and earth will be burned-up with intense heat (2Pet 3:10-12).
Moreover, Scripture also reports: "The living will NEVER precede the fallen asleep [dead]" (1Th 4:15). Accordingly, the living can't possibly be raptured before "The Last Day" when Jesus resurrects His people at the one and only "Resurrection of the Justified" (Lk 14:14), when He comes to keep His promises to His people (Jn 6:38-40,44,54).
Furthermore, the Rapture occurs at "The Last Trumpet" (1Cor 15:51-52), which to be "The Last Trumpet", must occur AFTER the Last-Ever full moon (Ps 81:3), as well as AFTER the Last-Ever annual "Feast of Trumpets" (Num 29:1, Lev 23:23).

Hope is in salvation, not escape from tribulation. We are promised tribulation in this life.
Revelation 20: 4 - 5 “…They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection.” If there is a rapture of the dead rising and then going up into the clouds then it makes this verse untrue…and God cannot lie. First means first ie no prior dead being raised. The idea of the rapture has gone down through the generations of pastors and now it’s preached as being true and biblical without question. Be bereans and research whether what these pastors are saying is true.
Jesus absolutely did not teach a rapture, nor did Paul. They both taught the resurrection of the dead, the reincarnation of souls. Origin needs to be studied.

Jesus never says the church will be kept out of tribulation. The bible does say:
Matthew 24:21-22: "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until now, and never will be again. And if those days had not been cut short, no one would be saved, but for the sake of the elect they will be cut short."
John 16:33: "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."
Revelation 7:14: "Then I said to him, 'Sir, you know.' And he said to me, 'These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.'"
Jude does not say one way or the other regarding when the saints join Jesus. Jude does not say they were already with him when he appears in the clouds and it does not say they rise to meet him right then. 1 Thessalonians clarifies:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

I honestly don’t like when people are quick to scream out “false teacher”. 2 Peter 2 when I read it talks about a teacher whose ways are ways of sin. If a pastor does not understand everything there is to know but he genuinely thinks he knows is that a false teacher or is he just confused?
If a teacher say homosexuality is okay with God that is a false teacher.

I don’t know. What happen to all the Apostel? Did they get raptured? Remember what happen to Christian’s through all the ages. Amen. We need to be prepared for persecution and suffering. If we go early, what a blessing. Humbleness is a fruit of the spirit. Many debate and cause discord which is always against the Holy Spirit of Jesus.
