I've stayed up hours. Trying to find the isopod videos I used to watch a few years ago. I'm so glad I found this channel again. Now that I'm older I finally got the courage to go and collect my own isopods from my yard. And try to keep them as pets 💙.
Woah... That's not a great price... I got a colony from a reptile expo this February in Mississauga Ontario for $80 for a colony of 12+, it might have just been my luck. I hope you're able to find a colony for a good price!
I love the isopod videos. One topic I seldom seem to find covered in the isopod community is a guide to safe shipping, laws about shipping live animals and isopods in specifics, and what is isopod shipping courtesy. I would love to hear what you have to say on the matter!
These videos are very interesting and well put together. Have humans discovered most of the isopods that exist already or is it possible there are a lot of different variations that people have never found?
@@Aquarimax That's so cool! "Science" seemed kinda boring in a way because they make it seem like we know most of what we'll ever know already so there's less mystery and wonder I guess. This is super interesting.
Hiya Rus! Wonderful video and the video of these guys looked great. I'd love to have a group of these guys one day, but with the price, and larger demands, it's something I'd have to set a goal for one day. I also cannot express how happy I was to NOT hear you say "carmel" like most people say, and instead you said it with properly with 3 syllables. This is a pet peeve of mine, haha. Go easy. Me
@@Aquarimax My other pet peeve is people who say comfortable with three syllables, as if it's spelled Comfterbal. I've only comforted people, I've never comfterted anyone!
Hey Russ I've got 2tubs of orange expansus. . Ive had these now for aprox 2 months. They were a mix of young and adults. In one tub only I think I'm seeing mancae? I'm seeing tiny white isopods in that container. Are these baby expansus that have yet to color up or could they be dwarf whites that were hitch hikers from when I 1st got the expansus? I sure haven't noticed them before and I check on them 2ce daily. I did order dwarf whites a few months ago separate from the expansus but every one was DOA. I made absolute certain that all the dwarf whites were all accounted for by literally taking a pinch of substrate pinch by pinch transferring to another container from the deli cup they arrived in.
The pics I took are very blurry and are the same color as grains of rice and just a tad bigger with a dark stripe in the middle of their back. I'm thinking the "stripe" just might be their innards? Do babies typically have no color then as they molt then gain more and more color as they grow?

Glad you found us again!
Good luck with your isopods 😁
Saw some in person and they're so amazing. The price per isopod was somewhere between 10 and 20 CAD though. Maybe I will work up to these!

I need this
I have a feeling if trilobites were still around keeping them would be a hobby as well.😊
Absolutely! Hopefully some of the conglobating ones among them 😁
@@Aquarimax Well that sent me into a rabbit hole I didn't expect. Turns out there were some conglobating trilobites!
Who knew?!
Russ knew
@joejoelesh1197 Right? That’s why I suggested it…I have seen fossils of conglobating trilobites!
This is so informative! Great job, fantastic reporting!🌻🌼🐝 Keep it up 🙌

Thank you! People have been looking a lot more closely in the past few years, and they are still discovering new ones!

I will have to try that!

Hoping I can work my way up Hoffs and these!
You can do it!! 👍
This is really cool but next time can you make the best food for isopods

Also, 7:01 - 7:05 what is that, a small corn husk the isopod is on?
That is a tropical plant pod, but I can’t quite remember which plant it goes to. I think Paul of Frog Yeah sent it to me!
@@Aquarimax Thank you. I'll be on the lookout!
What is written on your T shirt?) 10 reasons: ..?
It says “10 Reasons I ❤️ Isopods”
@@Aquarimax what are the reasons?)
My colony just crashed i hope i can regrow it back.
