In the second bar I sometimes I play an E triad underneath the Bb melody. Across hands would be LH: Bb Ab RH: B E Ab Something like a b9 b5 but I think of it as an E triad over a Bb7
Just found your channel. Pure Imagination has been on my list for some time (probably the whole time, just started 2 years ago hahaha) - this is PERFECT! I'm just getting into lead sheets/7th chords and something I am very familiar with (Willy Wonka) makes it a lot easier to learn I find! Your breakdown of the chords is very helpful!!!!
Great break down of the tune, awesome to see all the options and how you're thinking! One of my favourite tunes, thanks for taking the time out and posting
Tony!!! I always loved this song and always wanted to play it w simple lead sheet and put my flavor on it… thank you for featuring it. I’m so glad I stumbled into it ❤️
Thanks Tony! It’s always a pleasure learning from you. I know you are a great pianist tho’ but you always try to reduce every piece into a more simplified chords for us learners to catch up. You are the best and my favorite teacher! 😊😊😊
5:31 Gm and C7 sounds good too before the Fm9. The C makes a Gm7sus 4 sound and the Eb melody makes a C7#9 sound. Can also tri tone sub that C7#9 to make a Gb13 sound
Well I must be doing something write if I'm playing similar chord voicings as the Master himself! Thanks for posting this. I wasn't happy with some of my voicings, I'll just borrow yours if you don't mind
7:58 did you play the Abmaj7 chord different here than when you repeated it a few seconds later. Something sounded slightly different to my ears the first time. I preferred its sound
Try Bbm7 and E7 in place of the Db7 and D7 near the end. Not sure if that’s true to the original, but I like it better than the real book chords. Also those last three melody notes should be down an octave, I think. Great video!
Gracias maestro, saludos desde Antigua Guatemala.
To be honest you've got such a huge amount of past videos that I delve into that I didn't even realize you were gone.
What you mean he gone?
Willy Wonka definitely
BTW ' nobody owns them ' RE regarding like Kenny Barrin voices. I love the dry humor and subtle reference shot at globalism
This is one of your best, Tony -- some great voicings. Really improved my version!
Wow, thanks!
Nailed the impression.
Thanks from the Netherlands Tony for your tutorials, especially this one. And all your sheetmusic afcourse. I've bought you the coffees🙂.

Tony my best Frend👍 ...very good
0:46 on the Bb9sus4 did you play the G natural there? The 13th
I can hear an extra note that makes it sound richer. so basically Abmaj7/Bb or Fm9/Bb?

I think he added a natural nine the first time for a slightly denser sound
@@michael-solomon sounds legit. I love major 9th chords lol
