I literally just got done doing the same thing to my 07 trx450er and I went with OEM honda crank and OEM piston and cylinder because I didn't hear good things about the hot rods cranks but never the less awesome video
Nice dude! The best way is OEM 100%. I did this build for someone else. I hear best way to bring reliable power is OEM bottom, stock piston size, hotcam, port job, and a JD jet kit. Should be golden.
Nope! You may need to remove the brake so you can remove the case though. Go to my channel and look for a video called "HONDA TRX450ER COMPLETE RESTORATION! FIRST START- PART 3" and go to minute 8 of the video..dont forget to subscribe if you haven't already ;) Thanks!
Left case is $327 on Rocky Mountain. Since the engine will split I would replace at least the crank bearings while you’re in there. Personally I would also replace the tranny bearings, all new seals and gasket throughout the engine, and new timing chain, valve seals...maybe even a fresh piston and rings. Shop can charge anywhere $450 and up for the labor…probably more depending who you go to plus parts. So I’d say this could be $800-$1200 project

hotrods dont last. i had one, only ran 25 hrs before it snaped
Had a hotrod in mine for the last 4 years.
Rev limiter all the time, well over 80 hours on it.

Everyone forgets recording splitting the case part
Do I need to pull the engine out just to replace the clutch side case. I picked up an 05 and it’s cracked by the kick starter
